O.k here's something a bit different from me today! I attempted to record and edit a video for youtube showing how I do my Minotaurs armour it's my first video I've done so don't judge too harshly, it's about 20 mins on purpose since it's real time for how I do them, if I was doing a squad it would not take much longer as they would each dry as I worked on the next one.

Hope it's o.k and gives some people something to try!

The video is at a funny angle for the 1st 10 minutes or so otherwise great video.

Thanks guys, i'll hopefully get better at setting it up for video so I can still paint :-) i'm happy with it for a first attempt although getting it onto the internet from my phone was a bit of a struggle for someone not very technically minded!

make a call to your local tech priest just dial 1-800-HHE-RSEY to get the general answering machine. It constantly changes, so pay no mind to it. If you feel sick, do not worry about it. Lol so much to keep up with. Minos still looking great and that warhound looks fantastic too. I like the balance between metallics and the yellow.

Lol that was brilliant! I usually anoint my pict capture device with the blessed black Cafbrew so I hope that appeases the machine spirit in the SGS8, if not I shall call 1-800-HHE-RSEY and await for enlightenment.

Thanks Moltar, The Mino's are great for me! fast to paint and still look effective and brutal which means I can grow the force in the future if I so choose! and the Hound was really fast to paint too if I hadn't faffed around and left it so long, I originally primed it and washed it with the acrylic wash but wasn't sure how to proceed so I left it in the shed for weeks until I HAD to finish it, but once I got back itno it it took 2 days so I could have had it done a long time ago!

What I enjoyed about the video:

1. Sutry Aussie accent, I do miss living over there, so don't change that
2. Solid painting advice, god use of washes and weathering.
3. I'm not the only one who paints with slightly munted brushes!

Solid first effort mate!

Thanks Knightley, I toned down my usual lingo for the video in case I alienated anyone, maybe I should just let it flow? I thought it a good place to start since my mantra has always been to find and use techniques that are really easy and anyone can use to their benefit and my brushes are indeed pretty much all munted but they're family so I love them.

Great video! You make it look so easy, but your brush control on the scratches is really good.

Thanks Whaley, the trick with the scratches is to make sure you run it ever so lightly across some panels to give miniscule marks of silver in places, it gives a much more natural and appealing look I find. :-)

Mr Gitsplitta now has two more Dune Crawlers to add to his force of mechanicus lets hope they do well and kill the heretics....... or really just whoever just pisses off the forge worlds! I hope they match the previous ones I did and as a squad will look fan-bloody-tastic!

I also got some work done on the Minotaurs Terminators and Honour Guard and a base for another Contemptor Dreadnought, this time Hecaton Morbus to go with his friend (who's a bit of an angry Contemptor 'ol Aikios)

I cannot manage even to scratch the paint on the first two you painted and your wishing him luck on the two he doesn't already have. ~Sigh~

Dammit I wrote a massive lovely update and it disappeared so now it's time for bed and i'll have to talk to you tomorrow.

and a palette cleanser wanted to try and use their awkward poses and position to make something more dynamic as if they are charging through a battlefield debris using the metal sheets to bound off over and through.

Wow that is some grungy white! Yeah man I think you made the "awkward" poses really work for you. A good choice as a pallet cleanser from all that metallic bronze!

Crawlers are looking sharp- cant wait to see them on the tabletop come Adepticon

And that base is PERFECT! You really chose your colors well on that, and as always the execution is superb. Good touch with that little tuft of grass stuffed in the crack- really makes the base come alive.

First individual termi needs part of an imperial guardsman under that metal piece like he's stomping it shut on the dudes head. The forth termi needs a Titan foot coming down on him because he looks like he's about to get stomped . It is an amazing white you pulled off.

Cheers boys! I have to say the palette cleanser Red Butchers are indeed a nice change but they are very detailed with chains and spikes and the white really does take a while, it's a colour I've not really worked on much over the years and I have always preferred a dirtier white so I thought i'd give it a go I also wanted to give them a brutal feel with the blood and dirt without going over the top on them which I also think I did right on the more advanced guy.

and thanks for the compliments on that base too! I found the broken resin friezes in my bits box and thought they looked sorta old, what better way to use them than a Mino base! shame I couldn't use it for Aikios since he was already done and pinned so I got another one just for the base and I did also add a couple of small bits of the frieze to Aikios base to tie them together.

So really now I only have the World Eaters to play with and my Mino terminators, dread and command to finish up and I can just wait until I get Alpharius' models or work on my own stuff more

The Minos are all looking great. The contemptor especially has a great pose, very dynamic.

Butchers are looking great too. I'll have to give the WE a special spot on their own.

the world eater terminators are going well. I enjoy your minotars the most.

Thanks Whaley, hope you enjoy them but it'll probably inspire you to do a WE force. they WILL be that cool.

I finished up the Red Butchers sergeant and I think he looks perfectly suitable for them as a rampaging deranged squad of blood drenched maniacs I had a few things I wanted to convey when painting them, I wanted to still add the blood and spatter but I wanted to not go overboard and I also wanted it to look more realistic, like layers of gore and viscera dried on and then coated in fresh life blood.

The armour had to be white, but it had to be weathered and grimy, not dirty and decrepit like Death Guard but still battered and serviceable keeping in mind these guys don't ever leave it, and they just get hung up in the bowels of a ship frothing and straining to be unleashed again on the field of battle.

I also wanted to get his face to show the snarl and strain of the single mindedness he endures along with reddening around the chains in his head. the pose I like angled like this as if he's moving at speed through the debris using the terrain to force himself off towards you.

So there ya go, my first white armoured model, a challenge to be sure and a time consuming style for me but certainly something I can do again

Loving the progress since I last stopped by. The Dunecrawlers are top shelf and I love the purple weathering on the end of the guns.

Your Minotaur armour colour is really nice. Although personally I feel a little too much silver is showing through on the terminators. The Contemptor is looking beautiful already.

The World Eaters are really cool. I have been toying with an idea of doing a Bezerker army as a World Eater warband that is so bloodied they appear red over the original white armour. I think you have almost achieved what I am looking for with these guys. But I plan to coat them head to foot with only a little bit of the original colours showing through. Keen to see them finished to see if I can steal your work.....

The video was a good first start but that didnt sound like you Damo! You should put at least a little bit of your lively self on there next time.

Well thanks guys, i'll try and lively it up a bit next time Cracker and Archer I can see the silver being quite prominent but it does darken down a bit once I use black wash to line the model, it's a funny balancing act how they change with each little step and speaking of the Mino's I've some more work on them today, I silvered the Contemptor and the command guys

They're starting to take shape now and I should easily get them done in time.

I hadn't even noticed the contemptors base until now , very nice. The silver is definitely bringing out all sorts of details too.

Not sure about the purple claws, I'll have to let them grow on me for a while.
