Ah thanks for the heads-up mate, noticed that they are now in at Wayland Games in the UK as well (for some reason they didn't do a circular with this month's releases, which usually alerts me!)

I actually rate non-cube models slightly higher for that reason. Which is a bit mercenary, no matter how you look at it!

I like the idea of my little guys having cubes as... it means that they are not dead for ever when they die in a game, which I don't like the thought of..

I do what I can, Pacific.

I think I should start posting it in huge orange letters though.

For amusement's sake, of course.

Awesome! Is he a Bagh-Mari?

Redesign? I don't remember seeing a different version of him.

I definitely want a higher tech faction as my 2nd, a few more minis like this and it will be Pan-O instead of Nomads or Combined.

He is Akalis and he has the new type AD jumpsuit the crusaderer sported.

Ah, I see what you mean, a redesign of the Akalis look.

My only excuse is that the green helmet threw me off .

It's actually a turban.

With a power button.

Really nice, can't wait to see some better photos of it!

And possibly unique, can't think if I've seen a model of a sci-fi Sikh warrior before?

God forbid it ever was their religious symbol.

It doesn't look to be a khanda. If it is, we'll see in closer pictures.

I should also note that it does not resemble a chand tora, which is unfortunate because that would have been a great little Sikh acknowledgement there.

Not the turban, the helmet on his hip.

I actually had not originally noticed the helmet on his hip.

I'm hoping he gets a dual head option, just for aesthetic sake.

Doubtful, if there's a helmet molded on to him somewhere else...but maybe it isn't molded on?

That would be nice!

I looked at the unpainted shots (Angel hasn't put them up on his painting blog yet, just his FB page so it'll be a bit before I or someone else link those--unless someone wants to save/rehost them) and it looks like the helmet is attached to his leg.

So probably no helmeted variant.

Who was that guy (blogger?) who started spouting off about CB being anti-muslim before because of the Haqqislam faction? I wonder if any other nuggets will be forthcoming about this?

The Combi-Rifle. It might be the size change makes it look a bit different. I like it though. This is one of the few PanO that I really like.

don't take me wrong... I really hope that guy as a second head option.......

I'd hate to have to Cut off the head from his waist and try to fit it on his body...or kill a different model for a clean head. the pose and armor are really cool. that head wrap does not cut it for me.
who was Jonny Quests little buddy?

Haji… great, the derogatory term used by U.S. Marines in the current Mid-east McDonalds/Starbucks expansion campaign…
Na… personally I like Sci-fi as hardline Sci-fi… and I wouldn’t like a Yu-jing in a coolie either… but that’s just me. Wonder what the bits are

If you read the background in the book it makes sense - India becomes a large part of Pan Oceania in the future, and so some of the units have an Indian culture/heritage as part of their background (such as this guy and the Bagh Mari).

I can't remember the guys name unfortunately, other than he was a prominent (very competitive?) 40k blogger. Just remember laughing a lot when I read the comments because of the combination of lack of knowledge about a subject, and then taking offence at something in error because of it.

Not sure what garment you're referring to by "coolie", as Google and Wikipedia are only returning meanings for that word referring to people.

But keep in mind that many Sikh men still wear the turban today, often even as they perform very modern jobs. It's not a derogatory stereotype (of Sikhs), and it's not inconceivable that the practice would continue into the future.

This kind of thing is part of what makes Infinity so great, IMHO. They actually acknowledge (unlike certain other large, sci-fi miniature makers) that the world of the future might not entirely be populated by bland, nationality/culture-free whitish people.
