Didn't they mention there would also be an alternate sculpt released for the rest of us plebes?

Having now seen the model in question, I'm not that sad at all that I'll most likely never be able to get one.

Nothing horrible about, but nothing special either.

Stupid bloody tournament prize garbage. Blah.
I agree, but at least it's not the most amazing sculpt. It's 'good' by CB's standards, but it's not really a must-have. For all we know, the public release of Skorpio will be a better sculpt.

There is going to be both a general bounty hunter for sale and the tourny prize one.

This, I think, is for general sale.

Not an "alternate sculpt" so much as a "general release merc".

Namely:
This is the only Max Skorpio model that will exist. He is not technically a special character, but a named generic character.
There will be one made available for general sale later.

Maybe it's the second language thing, I fail to see the earth-shattering difference.

It's not really a language barrier or anything. It's simply that we do not have enough information right now regarding the implementation of Bounty Hunters.

For my own opinion? It's rushed. They're only made available to non-Sectorial armies because they know that Sectorials have far more attention grabbing ability than the vanilla lists do and are trying to shift the balance a bit.
Add to it that what they are doing is making this particular model (Max Skorpio) a limited edition and a tournament prize, while still having it actually take up a production slot and requiring the sculpting of a generic Bounty Hunter?
It reeks of poor prioritization and planning. It makes me think they needed something to put into the prize boxes and they decided on this. I would rather they have just ran off some more of the GoGo Marlenes and handed them out as prizes.

Von Skyfury why in Spoiler tags? Did you not want to ruin the surprise of Yojimbo riding a bike?

How damned cool is some of that concept art book though.. was lucky enough to have a look through a folder of the stuff that was travelling with two of the games design guys, would be amazing if they actually got around to selling it as a book one day!

What I personally find interesting is that Yojimbo's armor and undersuit?

It seems to be done in a mixture of the "Myrmidon" style and the typical Yu Jing style.

Are you referring to his deltoid region? To be fair, the Druze also have that Myrmidon-deltoid aesthetic.

Neko, on the other hand, seems to be running aroud with Aleph weaponry. Yojimbo may be, as well, but we've never seen an Aleph Contender; I guess they both have Aleph pistols, too. Silly Yu Jing taking our jerbs.

I don't really see much Metal Gear Rising. No opposable heel.

The concepts are pretty cool.

Its a Yu Jing contender, it seems Mercs go for Aleph weaponry and equipment, maybe going for the best their money can get?

Going by the Barid concept art of a palm sized 'hacking device', and the same on the Celestial Guard, I'm wondering why they're doing this.

Infinity has had a pretty strong hacker aesthetic - helmet and gloves interacting with a virtual world interface.

I wonder why they're moving to these palm devices?

Hey it's going back to orks using bolter guns right?

Seriously though, think it makes sense that factions have some crossover in terms of the weaponry they use - and certainly that Aleph would probably be at the top end of weapons technology (contrast with Ariadna and Hassiqlsam's far more conventional looking rifles).

That could be to differentiate the low tech factions from the high tech ones, or, since we have that to the CG, maybe people did not get the kaliptra (hacker visor) and ghostly typing and the need for a more mundane visual reference rise.

That been said all hackers do have a hacking device on them.

Low tech options wouldn't even make sense in the case of the Barid. Hassassin are some of the best equipped forces of Haqqislam. Ghulam, the standard line grunts, have the helmet and glove interface. There's no way Barids would have a lower tech tool.

The only hacker models I've seen without the helmet and glove interface are in the fireteam boxes, and I just assumed that was to keep the potential options higher (ie CB basically telling people to proxy the hacker with one of the models in the kit).

I get some people maybe not 'getting' the helmet and glove system, but it just feels jarring to change to something like this when there's so many hackers with the old style system. Just stick with it for range continuity.

This is what leads me to believe that the "hacking device" is the most important component of a hacker being a hacker, while the visor and jazz hands interface are one of the potential ways to operate the hacking device. A tablet PC could be a similar operational method.
