I was initially pretty down on these figures. Even though I've been pretty tolerant of CB's Masamune Shirrow-inspired aesthetic, these don't quite fit the direction I was hoping to see. Sure, cheesecake is part of the aesthetic, but I was hoping to see a little more coy playfulness and a little less stripper suits posed on metal. It probably sounds needlessly picky, but I associate poses like the Daktari catgirl with ordinary anime fan-service, and outfits like on the Nomads bootleg with the creepy otaku shut-in side of anime fandom.

But(t) most of these models I think can be salvaged with a little paint-the-skin-as-a-catsuit trick, which would happily bring them right back to where I think they should be. Except unfortunately for the Yu Jing bootleg, with her missing cyber-boot/stocking/garter. Which is unfortunate, because YJ is my first faction and the one I'd be most inclined to get one of these kits for.

So final verdict: They aren't bad, but they could have been a little, shall we say, "less specialized" and still got the job done. YJ would have been the clear winner for vignette posing were it not for the "I'm undressing the moment I get out of my robot"-vibe, so I'm instead awarding the prize to the Haqqislam bootleg - rarely have I seen such an excellent depiction of the female form that manages to balance dynamism, artistic appeal, sculpting quality, and conveying the sense that the woman depicted is powerful and competent.

"White Lions: They're Better Than Cancer!" is not exactly a compelling marketing slogan. - AlexHolker

I showed the Scarface bootleg to my friend who is big into painting who I also just got into Infinity, but still isn't really sold overall on Infinity.

"That's pretty damn cool". His reaction to the Oyori? "I so want that".

So mission accomplished there, I guess.

Yeah, but the Scarface model is fantastic. It is exactly what they claimed the Bootleg range would be:

Do you have something against the O-Yoroi pilot dynamically putting on her battlerobostockings? Can't you just imagine the dynamicity of the motion and the tense atmosphere of a pre-battle dressing?

You know, as a Haqq player, there's one scene from the Paradiso book I want them to do as a bootleg. Saladin, standing on a building, firing off a rifle, while a Hafza officer next to him peels an orange for him, with a Fiday lurking nearby.

Though I'd dig an unmasked Hawwa sniper as well. Go full cheesecake. I don't care.

So people whose mother language is Spanish posts more in a Spanish forum than in the English one. What a shocker, huh Kan?

Do you know who contacted with Spanish forums from GW, PP, Rackham, Battlefront, Soda Pop, Studio McVey and such companies? NOBODY. Does that mean anything about the quality of their products or how they treat their customers? No.

Do you think the rest of the world has an obligation to speak your language? Why don't you learn Spanish and use the Spanish forum? Because then you might know what it is being a gamer and having all the companies talking a language wich is not yours. You might know what it is to have a brand new exiciting game and not being able to play with anyone because the rules are in english and nobody wants to read them. You might know what it is to be dependant on small companies buying the rights of foreign games to have a translation published, and many times only for some products, while the rest of the range is never released in your country.

But yeah, CB is obviously mistreating you.

Okay, so I'mma show my lack of Infinity knowledge here... But I think it'd be cool to connect the Pan-O bootleg to the... Jotum (That's what it's supposed to be right?). I've got no interests in the line atm since the 1 nomads model doesn't really pull me in, but that would make me more interested in bootlegs

I love CB's stuff but I really wish they'd move away from the cheesecake stuff.

I am echoing Kanluwen, the only one of those I'd even vaguely consider getting would be Joe.

(3000+ Points)
Lizardmen (3000+ point 8th ed army)
GSC (1500ish points)
Cothique High Elves, Legio Astorum, Flesh Tearers, and plenty more on the go.

Love ya too Alphy! It was the gun that threw me off and the Jotum is the only TAG that I know of for Pan-O, I just didn't know what it looked like...

Also I didn't get the reference to the Pan-Am stewardess until late last night

You could very likely get the PanO Tech model and a Cutter and combine the two very easily. No doubt, people will be doing that.

Then again, you'll end up getting the Cutter only for the legs though, and that seems like a waste.

It's the same case with the O-Yoroi. The only thing the pilot model is missing is the legs.

Nah, I like her masked. Gives off the air of mystery, and I also like the fact that she's a cheesecake that's not a cheesecake. Needless to say it's also one of my favorite models.

With regards to why the YJ pilot has a very cheesecakey pose, it's pilot is literally based on the Shunya Yamashita Rei Ayanami figure, like how the O-Yoroi is based on EVA-01. And that Rei Ayanami figure looks like this: http://www.tentaclearmada.com/2009/06/rei-ayanami-from-neon-genesis-evangelion-creators-labo-version/

I'd be more surprised if that figure is not made to be cheesecake, based on their inspiration really.

I love that miniature too, just received it in the post in fact and really looking forward to painting her!

Infinity is losing me quick.

I’m really tired of not being able to make custom models right out of the box Or expensive T.A.G.s with 0 alternate parts…

Now instead of filling out the missing models or giving us a few more kits like the Spec-Op that allow for customization.

We get Dioramas with no bearing on the game??? I mean I have no issues with booty chicks or overly sexualized models what ever… but can I at least play with them… these aren’t even like full tags.

Scarface doesn’t even make sense… is his tag buried or legless? Because the guy he’s killing is at ground level.

Ok Corvus seems to be getting on the bad idea train more and more lately.

Being massively childish, looks like those chaps at the front are tremendously well endowed?

And I refuse to believe Angel uses normal paints like you and I, and not stuff mixed with the blood of Chupacabra and painted under the full moon in winter equinox.

Hey CB, here's a quick shout-out just in case any of your English-speaking support staff ever read the Dakka forums:

Great work, love the Bootleg line. Thanks for the interesting pieces to paint.

Ignore the haters, they're probably still learning to relax after years of being mistreated by Games Workshop.

That said, while 5deadly voiced his wishlist in a very negative fashion, he has a really good idea: TAGs with at least a couple of modular parts would be a really, really good idea. When you do the Gecko squads, that would be a great approach.

Keep up the good work!

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

I'm rather amused by this really ridiculous turn of events.

The bootleg minis? All awesome.

People complaining about not getting other models? Jesus. What other AAA Minis company releases models every single month, for a single game, for (almost) every faction? At this quality level? And really, complaining that a DIORAMA PIECE is semi-buried? It looks awesome.

Talk about looking for things to complain about. Are we STILL on this idiotic crusade by some very vocal people about how cheesecake is destroying their tiny metal soldiers experience?

Yeah, I'm not getting the complaint about Scarface. It's not a general wrecked Tag marker, it's a freeze frame of a particular bit of action. In this one, Scarface is buried to the thighs. Maybe he stepped in some quicksand, if you absolutely have to justify it to yourself?

Neither side is going to concede to the other in the forthcoming argument in case anyone is under any illusion about that. I'd love it if you didn't do your angry handbagging at all but if you have to please don't do it in this thread. This thread is for news and pretty pictures that make me smile. There is a discussion worth having though and it would certainly warrant it's own thread if you're that invested in it.

I just don't see why there has to be a problem in the first place. It's not like every month has something you want to buy. Most months don't for me, even if it's a Haqqislam release.

If the bootlegs aren't to your taste, then don't buy them. Hey, here's a month you can eat out one more time instead of buying more mandollies you'll never get around to painting.

There's no point belittling Corvus Belli for making miniatures for an audience they know is there simply because they're not fulfilling your personal wishlist.

Not to mention, Angel is teasing actual game peice releases, which means the bootlegs might not even take this months release away. Which would make the majority of the whining completely unfounded, as they're just additional peices.

Gathering the Informations.

The previews are "August" releases.

So yes, the Bootleg releases are all of July's releases.
Add to it that the June releases are just hitting US stockists now at the end of July and my biggest complaints regarding their stock management are completely founded.

I'm not going to gripe or anything more for the time being. I've had my gripe and now my irkedness is being alleviated by a "Batman: Night of the Owls" hardcover.

I am a customer .... and CB isn't losing a customer ... just haven't gotten money from me in awhile.

Alternate parts for tags and smaller models would be great. As a Modeler and owner of a jewelers saw amongst tons of other must have tools of the trade I'm kinda tired of my model looking just like the next guys.

The spec-op was great but I know that too much of that disrupts CBs business model as they can't release trickle down weapon upgrades.

Be nice to get models for stuff with 6 year old rule entries before diorama pieces.

And make some new orcs or Swiss enough other the spaceknights guys. Its a little played out.

Soryy if you don't like how I come across. It my world not yours.

Well said!

Yes, people are CLEARLY going to have different opinions on this stuff, and there isn't really any problem with people commenting on them - obviously.

What really isn't necessary is one 'side' running down the other over it.

We actually all live in the same world.

Why do they need to make new ORCs? They have released every ORC profile, and while they are old sculpts they are still in line with the quality of the newer sculpts. I would definitely buy them if I ever go PanO.

While I agree, there might be a slight scale issue between the ORCs and the newer stuff?

Especially in terms of the weapons?

I know I'd like some new ORCs - maybe even a box set?

Is there any proposed PanO Sectorials that would feature them?
