They've been fine with releasing profiles in the past, if somewhat slow. This fits their pattern. Only missions have been held back so far.

Definitely more sold on this concept since seeing that reveal of the contents.
Straining my eyes at that pic, the mission format looks similar to Paradiso (although, hopefully it might be a bit more straightforward than some of the missions in that book!)

Really excited by these dire foes boxes, a interesting concept overall, when you think about it CB have basically created "DLC" for wargames, surprised no one thought of it earlier.
I'm curious if CB would have any problems me printing these out (for personal use only), I intend to get all five boxes and combine the pdfs as one book and get it printed via
Lulu, it would create a great little mini mission book, I'd just have to sort out the contents a bit.

Rolt, I'm pretty sure it would end up being one of those things where, so long as its for personal use and you aren't selling it to anyone, it'd be totally fine.
Its also a great idea and something we should probably also do with the unofficial rules reedit too

Casey's law - what was the last thing you were around to see released? Probably the Iguana release and now Dire Foes has been some of the most noteworthy.

Yes it is a really neat idea isn't it, will be interesting to see how the DLC turns out.
And, I can't see anyone having a problem with printing it off! Might be viewed in the same way as copying casette tapes back in the day

Couldn't any expansion created by GW, PP or Wizards considered as DLC? Admittedly they are more costly and distributed in a well known procedure. The difference I see is how CB isn't afraid to use digital media and allowing you to purchase just the part you want, that is something new to my knowledge. I'm interested how entire story of Dire Foes will unfold, the ending of the Dire Foes is an intro into the next campaign, but for that I'd need to acquire all the content of the Dire Foes, part of me likes it. It encourages interaction within the community but at the same time I'd like to have an option to buy professionally printed paper version (story, art, rules) complimented with miniatures I want (Bipandra, Konstantinos, few civilians).

RiTides & Pacific - Thanks guys, yeh Iguana was pretty much the last thing I witnessed. Nice to know I didn't miss too much! I spotted the comment that said the Morats night be dropping next release, is that substantial or more like wishlisting? That'd make me a very happy bunny. Dire Foes hasn't won me over yet, I'm still responding to it like I would any Infinity release. I'll probably fall madly in love once I here more though.

Total Wargamer have got a 'this weekend only' 25% off sale.
Should be nice for those who have been sitting on the fence until now, perhaps tentative because of the price - they have starter sets for £20 which is an absolute bargain!

We now have confirmation: THIS IS A POSSIBLE DESIGN FOR THE NEW SECURITATE! It's not definitive but it seems this might be it.
There's also some other bits coming out of a tournament in Spain right now:
Tunguska and Black Hand will have their own sectorials.
The Kriza Boracs (HI from Tunguska) will be in the Black Hand Sectorial.
We also got this picture today of the VIP from the Yasbir/Konstantinos scenario

This is a game about covert operations. Action doesn't happen only in battlezones, specially if we keep in mind that with exception of Paradiso and lesser conflicts that might arise in other parts of the Sphere, mankind leaves in peace. Seriously guys, it's about time you get out of the "there's only war" 40k mentality.
Actually in my mind I've depicted more than one operation in Infinity as a mission in videogames like good old Syndicate and X-Com (this one when CA involved)

Fair 'nuff. Still, you'd think an operative might be smart enough to at least not wear heels quite that high even if she'd have to blend in.
Besides that I'd mind quite a bit less if the 'covert' models weren't all 'ideal'-bodied and female with the one exception being a comic character who has one defining feature, and that being that he's a bit of a horndog. Oh well, no point in becoming Kan 2.0 here

Who says she's an operative? She could be an accountant that one side needs to capture in order to convict Space Capone.

The model I posted is not an operative. She's a generic civilian. Automatically Appended Next Post: Janzerker wrote: Bolognesus wrote:Thus proudly continuing the tradition of garb so completely inappropriate for a battlezone, even for civvies, it's not even funny. Oh well, /care

This game isn't about covert operations so much as it is about low intensity operations. Very big difference.

She's not the one civilian. She's the one that matters. For the sake of Dire Foes, the civilians aren't just innocent bystanders; they're objectives. We could assume that every other civilian in the area is hiding, had run away, or just doesn't matter.

Cool, thanks for posting that Kan. And Sangarn, that miniature deserves to be seen from all angles.. and what a paint job on it..
Bolognesus - interesting that you think that way. There are quite a few unofficial scenarios out there which feature civilians, something that is featured in the background and artwork a fair bit as well, and now finally the 'official' game is catching up with the concept. Kind of thought that was always one of the selling points of Infinity; that a lot of these fights are taking place covertly between special ops teams often in inhabited areas, with people just carrying on their business (rather than an open battlefield with 2 armies taking each other across crater-strewn terrain etc.. that imagery belongs to many other games! )

I don't really buy anything "covert" happening in a place anything more orderly than, say, mogadishu or somesuch with the amount of firepower the average 300pt list brings. It's not 5-10 guys (total) trying to take each other out with knives and silenced weapons and whatnot; we're laying down suppressive fire, landmines (ferchrissakes!) and firing missiles at each other - not to mention the fething TAGs everywhere - does that look 'covert' anymore? I get small-scale skirmish but this amount of firepower in a habitable zone would involve 80% of the effort dealing with panicked civilians and 20% actually shooting the other guy. Just me, perhaps.
As for the models: I wouldn't mind this one so much if it hadn't been the same fething stereotype _every_fething_time_. I understand it sells but that doesn't make it any less fething stupid IMO.
I gather from the comics thread linked just now, however, that the spanish forum almost had a literal meltdown over such issues so perhaps I should leave it at that

Obviously when the 'big guns' come out, then it stops being covert. No-one is saying this is rycin-covered umbrella tips or exploding cigars!
But look at the artwork - of street scenes, of a Shasvaasti exploding from a glass pane, Onobiwan jumping from a wall while terrified citizens look on in the background. But at the same time there is also a lot of 'open battle' type artwork as well (primarily surrounding Paradiso). Perhaps the best thing to imagine is that conflict takes place in many different types of theatres within the Infinity universe? Sometimes within civilian-populated areas, where the 'powers' are making a grab for something they need, and there is some collateral damage in the form of what ever people are unlucky enough to be in the area at the time. I think certainly enough to warrant a 'citizen' miniature and scenario, and as I've said there has been a lot of fan-made missions and material that has grown from the background CV have presented us with.
Really I think there is room for many different types of theatres of war, and of missions. As for TAGs? You need to watch the original Appleseed Manga - it's very easy to smuggle multiple large armoured suits into civilian areas, and for them then to have a massive fight!
As for the woman being too cheesecake/overtly sexualised? Well.. it's been in the game since day 1, it's part of the DNA of this game system (although it isn't always evident, and there is enough depth in the model range for it to be side-stepped). She is not 'lewd' or posed in a provocative manner, and is actually quite constrained compared to some releases, I can't see what the fuss is about. To me, if you find it that intolerable, it's kind of like enjoying 40k if you have an aversion to shoulder pads or physically-improbable flying machines
