I think smaller, reaslistically sized guns is a good thing. I am surprised by the highlights on the scotchguard minis, it translate to my eye as a very glossy, shiny weapon, which isn't that great when you're trying to remain unseen.

As for the burberry cloaks... it shows you've never had the real deal. They are so well cut, light, comfortable... you'd be insane to pas it up

Wow, Caledonia used to be my one of my least favorite but with these guys, I could see myself starting to collect them. The same 2cloaks are a minor quibble, will only really be noticed in photographs I think. Add in a Scottish werewolf and you got a decent enough looking crew!

Sekban look really cool too, I just really don't like the infinity back tube/antennae. But I never have and left them off my pan-o too. I just have a hard time imaging soldiers running down alleys or crawling around cover with those things sticking out of their back. Besides, real soldiers wear enormous backpacks and don't rely on big spidery robots to haul their gear

I don't like the Scots all having the same head with their goggles up either. That and the double flamboyant cloaked body really ruin this box set for me, so off the to-buy list they go. Too bad CB.

The Sekban and Raiden are very nice though

Ah I hadn't even noticed that the Sekban had come out! I had promised myself that I'd start Haqq when the Sekban were released as a box, but what cruel fate decided to release them at the same time as the scots guards...whyyyyyyy?

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Sekban are up there with Druze and Kaplan as my favorite infantry models ever. Just amazing.

Me too, think I probably prefer these to the Kaplan which were my previous favourite box set.. the difficulty now is going to work out how to fit all of them in one 300pts list..

Wow, I really want to start playing infinity these are great! Can anyone help point me in the right direction on learning about the rules and background first? I checked the Infinity forum but the jargon in most threads shoots right over my head :(

The background is pretty much only in the books.

I do suggest them though, even if you can get the rules for free.

We have a sub-forum, most thing you need are in the sticky "Would you like to know more", The CB youtube channel has good demo vids. The CB main website has a the rule in the Download section, their 3 download under Rules and Army List one for each book (each book expands the game so you need them all) and 1 smaller download in both with rules for stuff coming in the next book (this is updated so keep tabs). Finally the Infinity Wiki, rules a click away and the FAQ too. After that ask any questions you have in the sub-forum and will help as best we can.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

Curious as to how the Scots Guard models break down. Seems the most restrictive 'multi-part' kit yet.
Like them though, although I agree that four identical heads is disappointing.

Sekban look excellent. Now I don't know whether to buy them or the Kaplans first.

As Noir says, this thread is worth checking out http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/440048.page

Make a thread in the Infinity sub-section if you have any specific questions, there are usually some pretty helpful people there who will reply!

I'm very new to Infinity, too. There are snippets of the background on the Corvus Belli site, but mostly its in the books.

I started by doing this:
1) read free download of rules
2) read snippets of background on the CB site
3) watched the rules videos on the CB site <-- these are GREAT
4) read the rules again
5) ordered the main rule book
6) ordered a starter set (Ariadna) and a few extra Ariadna minis that caught my eye

The rules vids are great. I was glad I'd read the rules once so the vids put them in context. But after the 2 reads and the vids, I understand about half of the jargon.

At first I'm going to stick to vanilla squads (still trying to schedule my first actual game). After that, we'll see.

It's going to have mini-me arms.

Just leave them off and file off the attachment points and you'll be fine though.

That particular Gecko seems to be the Mark 12, Blitzen, and Chain Colt profile. Mark 12s are always overly large, even on infantry.

Or, you know, 2 x Combi Rifle...

Also, according to the concept art:

pilot arms look to be visible!

You really should get into INFINITY anyway.

Leaving off the pilot arms is probably the easiest 'conversion' to accomplish with this range!

I NEED A GECKO.

Im using a Pendekar battlesuit from Zandris IV mini's as a proxy. And while that is a great model, I cant wait to see what the CB version looks like.

I will also be picking up some of those Scots Guard! Damn, now ill have to start Ariadna instead of either Tohaa or CA. Or I could start all 3.....

Yeah, I saw the two pieces of art last summer and one had them and the other didn't (but was likely just at an angle where they simply weren't visible). A guy can hope! It is an easy conversion assuming the arms don't attach to the guns and are just sticking out individually. I've literally been waiting since the art book to decide on these models and the game in general. Some mecha backed up with some linked unit somesuch infantry sound like a cool force.. no idea on its efficacy in game though.

The guns wouldn't have an attachment point for the mini-me arms--thankfully.

It wouldn't work unless the operator's arms were as long as the TAG's arms

Wonderful, can't wait to see the Gecko!

I assume that means it will be coming in next month's releases?

Geckos and Neoterra starter seem to be the February releases, with some others guaranteed as well.

Also for those US/Canadian posters interested, last month's releases(Gorgos, MAF starter box, Uxia, Rao, and Celestial Guard box) are now in stock/shipping from the Warstore. I guess the winter weather must have been wreaking havoc on their stock chains.
