No, pretty sure it's Photoshop.

He's using Adobe Photoshop CS6 (newest Version) with what looks to be a Wacom Cintiq 22HD (only a few years old), very top of the range kit, about £1000-1500 retail. I find
it interesting hes using a black nib on the pen, there normally designed to mimic the feel of pencil and remove some of the plastic slippy-ness the wacom surfaces normally have,
although newer models from the Ituos 5 onwards have an invisible matte layer which creates "bite" much like traditional pencil and paper. Sadly this in turn causes the nibs to
ware down faster which didn't please many professional illustrator's at the time, not sure if the fixed this since, I'd imagine they have as I haven't heard many complaints on newer models.

The ass of a concept. Both Carlos do the concepts, the director usually does the front versions, and Bostria said he usually did the back, and that he had been specializing in asses. I don't remember if it was in BoWs videos or in the GenCon seminar video. So my point stands

That's a bit more than I'd want to spend - a $1500 monitor + Photo $hop = outside my budget.

Clearly off topic here - but people 'seem to know' so, as a pencil/pen and paper illustrator wanting to branch out, what should I look for?

It's two per box and from what I've been told, you will only be able to build one of each profile from the box.

It's very difficult to say isn't it. They are certainly quite bulky (fair bit of metal used in them), and going on the price of the latest CA starter box might be a bit more expensive on that basis.

I wouldn't be surprised 50-60 Euro. Would certainly be happy to pay that for them, especially as there are discounters where you can get 10-20% off.

Bostria flatout told me on Facebook that the Geckos would be "a bit more expensive" and that boxing two Geckos together is kind of a test in regards to future releases that they might do.


I'm still not certain if it comes with just one of each weapon profile or if it comes with parts to make doubles.

PanOceania is getting a resculpt of the Armoured Cavalry, they still have the Tikbalang and Toni Macanya to do(which likely are going to be another "double TAG" box dependent upon the success of the Gecko boxes), they still have the Seraph and Uhlan to do as well--which could be another double box. with a pair of Auxbots thrown in as optional bits.

Nomads getting the Gecko is a double edged sword. They're AVA 4, with one profile(the Mark 12) being exponentially better than the other(the dual Combi Rifles) in terms of rules and now the sculpts. Dependent upon how the box is set up it could be a smashing success(if you can build double Mark 12s--I'm buying two boxes) or a bit of letdown/flamebait(if you have to buy 4 boxes to field 4 Mark 12s...I probably won't buy more than two boxes and I'll sell off the Combis to people who like making dioramas).

Blegh. That is a really, really bad way to go about things. Stuff like the Armbot Bulleteers I can always proxy as the other weapon type (no one will notice that), but this? Not including a second mk12 would be good way of fething with your player base. Tie-in sales suck, and not having that second set of spitfires in the Bulleteer box, for example, was bad enough already.

I don't think people will care that much to be honest, and instead 98% will be happy with what are fething awesome sculpts. They will be happy just having the miniatures and using them, not really worrying so much about 'optimum load-outs'.

Well, speaking for myself anyway. Prefer the rifle miniature, although both of them look cool.

Sadly it's not even a question of "optimum" load-outs.

You're paying 1 SWC and 54 points for twin Combi Rifles, a Chain Colt, and a Panzerfaust...or 1.5 SWC and 55 points for a Mk-12, Chain Colt, and Blitzen.
The Mk-12 profile is head and shoulders better.

Plus the sculpt for the Mk-12 is so much better than the "double Combi Rifle" one.

Not so much head and shoulders better that a list with 2+ Geckos in can afford the increased SWC cost on all of them.

Also, if you end up facing Ariadna, Haqqislam or a list with not much E/M-vulnerable stuff in it the Blitzen does you a fat lot of good... :(

Is the bigger gun the "mk12" everyone is talking about? I have no idea what it does in game but it definitely looks cooler than the Halo 2 box cover dual SMG look the other one is sporting.

Yes.

The Gecko that actually looks awesome is the Mk-12(the rifle clutched in both hands), Chain Colt(the thing strapped to the arm on both models), and Blitzen profile.
The one doing the "Look at me!" pose is the twin Combi Rifles, Chain Colt, and Panzerfaust profile.

No bias towards professional, reasonable poses of course.

I don't think I would mind the twin combi rifle model as much if it was actually a "twin combi rifle", in the form of two combi rifles bolted together.
