That's Ajax from ALEPH, and yeah, Angel painted that one, stubble/buzz cut and all!

There are a few 'stubble painting' tutorials out there that make it seem like a doable thing, but, you know...

Are the crisis suits (standard plastic versions) too big or too small?

It's a bit of both really.

They're "too small" in terms of height but "too big" when it comes to overall width.

It's a weird situation as they just don't look right.

I wish you would put your finger on it. Because when I saw the model my first thought was, "You know, I don't like this model because I don't like Tohaa in general, but I think if I did like Tohaa's aesthetic I would love this mini.

I finally figured out what the really big offender was.

She's just like a Mantic Elf model. Wearing full heavy armor and yet somehow skinnier than a lighter armored/unarmored version.

Okay, I can respect that. I don't follow Tohaa so I don't know their profiles (and until I get to the point I can play the game I don't really care). So all I see is someone who looks like they're wearing light or maybe at a stretch medium armor. If as you say she's supposed to represent heavy, well, that's silly.

Basic breakdown of Tohaa?

Heavy Infantry: Ectros(Neema is just a named Ectros character)

Medium Infantry: Gao-Tarsos, and Gao-Rael

Light Infantry: Kumotail Bioengineers, Chaksa Auxiliars(and the Chaksa that is included with the Gorgos TAG is Light Infantry as well), Sakiel(light infantry with Symbiont armour) and Kamael Light Infantry.

The Clipsos Infiltrators are Skirmishers(with ARM 0) and Makaul are Warband.

And the model on the left below... is that a buzz cut painted on? That's impressive! (I know the model on the right was the new release, but still )

This a really clever shot.. Ajax is a big miniature. Seriously big. He's the size you imagine a Space Marine to be if they were in Infinity, dwarfing standard humans (and, I have to say pretty frightening when you face him! ) and obviously Tarik Mansuri is equal in scale - which I guess is right if you think that Tarik is the product of genetic engineering, and Ajax has been designed to be 'human +' also.

Except, by Tohaa standards, she is wearing heavy armour, because its symbiont armour. Look at the other Ectros models. They're mostly orange, which is symbiont armour, with shin armour (which Neema has), arm armour and shoulderpads (which Neema has), chest armour (which Neema has), a helmet (which Neema has) and pelvic armour (which Neema... sort of has). It's all been reduced to typical CB female form fitting armour, and overall the model is smaller (which can be attributed to being female as well), but as far as being heavily armoured, she's up there with the other Ectros models.

The funny part is Gao Tarsos actually look more armoured than Ectros and there's not much difference in size, so I guess we just have to assume that Ectros have someone really tough symbiont armour. Moreso for Neema.

Well Ajax is a beta platform for Achilles, So I guess they got better at components miniaturization on Achilles, Tarik is a one off success of an experimental bio project, I guess it had its side effects.

Oh crap, here come the Scots Guard. Brace yourselves opponents of Ariadna players, they're about to get a LOT more annoying to root off the damn table!

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Basically yeah. Achilles is the culmination of lots and lots of experimentation with different combat lhosts. Ajax's lhost was technically a failure on the road to Achilles, and over that time the lhosts got smaller. Tarik is the cumination of human minds working on perfecting the human body through bio-engineering. The results of the 'best' being so starkly different should be expected.

We'll find out how starkly different the new 'Tarik the Freak' is in a few days, once the army builder has the new profiles-- Friday I hear. Most folks are interested in the bolts though, but as a Haqq player first, and an ASA player 3rd (after QK) I'm more interested in Tarik's new profile. It will indicate, I think, the direction the next Haqq sectorial will take, given that the Khawarij will be the linkable troops for it.

Bostria also said, IIRC, his new profile will include a new rule from the next book. He's the first available model to get it.

Somehow, the image of a link team of super-jumpers is too funny. So, maybe CB will be modfying it-- the super-jump rule-- for linkability.

Super jumping link team would certainly add a touch of uniqueness to the Caliphate sectorial. I also recall someone mentioning tge Khanate sectorial maybe having access to a superjumping bike. Which would be even more hilarious.

maybe it's a flying motorcycle? I don't know how they could do it, but I want the Haqq supermen to be able to take on TAGs with their bare hands. I mean, Tarik looks like the Hulk. He should be able to rip a TAG's arms right off.

Wasn't that one of the things they mentioned about the Caliphate list, that there wouldn't be new TAGs (aside from Maghariba access), but the super soldiers would be its equivalent?

Kind of like a Haqqislam Steel Phalanx, I'm hoping. Grunts supported by guys who your default ARO when you see them should be 'run away'.

Are the Kum bikers flavorfully part of the Caliphate? They have always been interesting in concept, but the bikes themselves always looks silly in contrast with the infinitely sleek Aragoto. I'm hoping they'd get a resculpt and revamp soon.

I thought it was more to do with the template they used for their re-creation - Ajax (in the Iliad) was described as a giant of a man, his re-creation by Aleph reflects that (or.. did they name him Ajax after they realised how big he was going to be? )

During Aleph's project to create the perfect soldier with Achilles, Ajax was one of the prototypes of Achilles. Ajax fit the physical requirements, but not the mental requirements. Regardless, Ajax was still a success in his own way.

From his bio: http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/2012/miniatures/ajax-the-great-myrmidon-officer/

Contrary to what is usually believed, Ajax the Great, one of the finest heroes of the Myrmidons of the Assault Subsection, is not a Recreation made by ALEPH. Born with the name Glaboros DG-056, this Myrmidon with a peculiar history would earn the nickname of Ajax the Great in combat, with sweat and blood. Mostly blood, and most of it belonging to his enemies.

Glaboros DG-056 was the first success of Project: “Precursor”, although it was only a partial success. “Precursor” was the name for the first phase of Experimental Project: “Warrior” that would culminate in the AR-1 prototype, the fabulous Lhost into which Achilles would be eventually downloaded.

and especially:

Glaboros DG-056 would be an exceptional warrior, but never the tactical genius ALEPH needed.

Like bikes even really need that! I jump my bikes straight onto roofs on our dense urban tables, and only rarely do they fail the roll. I actually houseruled an automatic dismount when they fail and fall, becuase otherwise that jump with a high secondary movement is practically brokensauce. Of course they then do stupid Impetuous moves and die horribly, but c'est la YU Jing vie.

“Percute et Percute Velociter” (Strike and Strike Swiftly), motto of the Neoterra Bolts Regiment.

Did you think PanOceania has kept its leading place on the hierarchy of power for years thanks to fancy diplomats with silver tongues and warm smiles?
Think again. PanOceania is nothing more than the biggest and meanest bully in the schoolyard. The Hyperpower is still perched in the top because it is constantly defending its position, browbeating anyone that poses a half-credible threat.

The PanOceanian Military Complex is in a state of constant alert, responding as swiftly and forcefully as it can to endless alarms on all fronts. That is the only way to stay number one for any length of time, and it takes more than state-of-the-art technology. It takes professional soldiers capable of responding to that technology and squeezing the best results from it.

Case in point: the Neoterra Bolts. They are the backbone of the Neoterran Capitaline Army, and handle most of its foreign operations. Since their foundation, the Bolts have been a part of most deployments by PanOceanian troops: law enforcement operations, pacification operations, punishment operations, advanced force operations…

There is literally no mission in the operating spectrum they have not tested their mettle against. They say no amount of training can replace hands-on experience, and the Bolts have plenty of the latter. Whenever a situation develops, wherever PanOceania needs to exert its presence and exercise its prerogatives, the Bolts will be there. This unit is always on active duty, always deployed and always in the thick of things.

As an example, the Regiment is officially cantoned in the Darwin Main Operating Base, and they supposedly exemplify like no one the Australian character that is the heritage of this major Neoterran city. In truth, at the base you will find nothing but wet-footed trainees, because Darwin is not where PanOceania needs the Bolts to be. It needs them to be wherever real-life action is. If you are curious about their current location, just turn the newscasts on and look for the guys giving the thumbs-up while all hell breaks loose behind them.

As a brand new Tohaa player, Neema is a little disappointing. The other angles make her look better, but she still doesn't look up to the standard CB has been producing lately.

She looks like something PP would do. I don't mean that as an insult to PP, more of a compliment to CB... because usually their models are amazing.

So I've been sitting on this piece of information for a week or two.

I had a nice little chat with Bostria about the Alguaciles box, notably that we will see the box this year. The earliest they're guessing is "this summer sometime".
