Don't despair. That is a common enough problem, good sir.

The good news is we'll get to see how well he can paint Jean Reno's face on the Bruant mini soon. My guess: He'll paint it very well indeed.

Naga minelayer? Interesting. I could use one of those.

I'm in the exact same situation. I would love it if my stuff looked as good as Angel's.

So Bruant is a Jean Reno lookalike? How have I not heard of him yet? I think I might need this figure.

Yes I think he looks great as well. I don't honestly know what you could expect from a 'more asian look' something like this?!

Not to be a pain, but the device I'm currently on doesn't show avatars or signatures as I browse the thread.

Exactly.

I'll grant him the 'not in the list', though technically maybe Sectorials make that muddy.

Not seeing Sigs on the 'mobile view' though.

But, let's not let any of that get in the way of Internet Snark.

There is a settting that auto blocks sigs too. I don't use it, but I wonder if it can block individual sigs too. Some of the gif sigs are a bit much.

The rumor is that Bruant is indeed modeled on Jean Reno. The ability to sculpt faces digitally has really raised the bar on detail -- you should see how nice Stephen Rao's face is done-- so I suspect that the Bruant mini will be awesome and will be a dead ringer for Reno.

T minus 14 days to 2 April. But the news probably won't be out that early in the month. Bummer.

The 0-12 podcast mentioned that it might be worth it to keep an eye on Beasts of War site. There's going to be big Infinity event in Spain, supposedly with presentation and seminar. Though I imagine the Spanish forum will throw few crumbs before any possible video is uploaded on the internet. It definitely has my curiosity, though I'm partially anxious at the possibilities, not all sit well with me. Will see, will see.

The eye of terror

Seems there's a fair few updated sculpts appearing, makes me wonder what I've missed out on seeing as I only (sort of) started in December. Also makes me a bit wary of what I should be buying though as Aleph none of it should affect me but my live in nomads player is suitably worried about getting any of the older models especially if they update anywhere near as well as Sun Tze.

An easy way to tell the newest stuff is the order in which they appear on the web site...newest stuff is first. (FYI)

Most of the Greeks for ALEPH are quite new and in no danger of a resculpt. ALEPH in general is all new stuff, so I think you'd be quite safe.

Nomads will also be getting new stuff soon for Tunguska, so tell your Nomad player to hold off on the securitate mini, unless he really likes it  For the rest, well, if he likes a mini go ahead and get it. It won't become obsolete or anything.

Oftentimes, yes.
Occasionally, if a unit gets a resculpt, they'll remove the original from the website and replace it with the new stuff.

Notably, the Morlocks.

For grunts (basic LI) it might be worth getting the old ones as well. You might actually want to field more than 5 in a 300-400 list. To that end I would still recommend that anyone getting into Nomads snap up the old-style Aguaciles, dorky heads and all, before the new ones come out.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

What interests me most about the updated sculpts is we seem to be getting characters at an abnormal pace, both new and updated. Seems an odd choice to me, as there's plenty of normal unit profiles that need either updated sculpts or just sculpts at all, but characters are getting churned out. Last month even had two.

I wonder if this has something to do with Aprils announcment?

The models to mostly worry about are units from the Core rulebook. Human Sphere and later tend to be 'safe' with a few exceptions, like when they dropped the Shotgun Odalisque when they released the link box. But overall, mostly worry about Core units. Even Core TAGs are getting resculpts, since CB confirmed the Squalo is getting redone.

Well the characters have two things on their advantage, its a unit with a single model, so its easy to say unit X done and move on and the Greek sectorial is so full of them that skews the releases towards their favor.

they also are focal points for the forces and some needed a resculpt, but that's secondary.

Characters are easier to design, in a way. They're often less flavorful than a whole unit yet more iconic.

At least Infinity explains the existence of characters and personalities in combat scenarios with the Cubes and Lhosts.

Personally, I'd prefer more non-character units primarily because they're more flavorful and much more interesting.

Also that outside of Paradiso, small scale skirmishes are how engagements happen. Actual wars don't. So having Wallace or Tarik leading a skirmish makes sense. Also having leaders like Sun Tze and Saladin there makes sense - while they probably wouldn't take part in an offensive, their command areas would still get raided.

Compare to 40k, where they would have to believe every engagement is millions of soldiers going at it on countless planets every day, having Calgar personally show up at your little portion of one of those battles time after time is a bit of a stretch.

So Loki, do you think that means the Szalamandra will eventually get a resculpt?

Maybe, maybe not. I think if it does it will be with Tunguska.

I had all my TAGs out and man, the Szlamandara, while I like her, looks nothing like the rest of it's sisters.

While I only just bought a Maghariba, I'd like to see a resculpt that's more along the lines of the Kameel.

Can we say we can only hope.

I love this TAG, I really do, but it does show its age.

Naga is splendid, exactly in a pose I imagined. I see no problem with Bruant.

I love the Szalamandra and the Lizard T.A.G.s as is - and the fact that they look 'different' from current models (Iguana and Gecko) works OK for me, in terms of 'fitting the background'.

Something doesn't look quite right with that Naga.. I guess it's the gun, or the angle of the arm holding the gun. Even if all of the weight is behind the ergonomic grip, It's balanced awkwardly, almost as if it doesn't weigh anything. It would probably look good with the rifle slung over his shoulder and pistol in his left hand, though

As for Bruant.. yeah he's a little underwhelming in the sense that he doesn't really 'stand out' from the other Metros. But since I suppose that is the point, he gets a pass from me

Edit: Hmm, so the Metro's have two character choices now (3 models) and the Caledonians have three (four models), or four if you include McMurrough (five models). Even USAriadna has one! I sure hope we see a few Kazak characters when their sectorial comes out!

The ALEPH style of combi rifle is tiny...and its users aren't human.

Fair point. But you have to admit that the Naga hacker is holding his rifle in a much more natural way. But then again, with ALEPH brand Super Strength, maybe he didn't need to hold it like that

This actually shows how the Minelayer is holding it a bit better. I did think it was a bit awkward till I saw this shot.

Also, here's Bruant:

The minelayer rifle does seem a bit awkward; I think the scale seems off in that the rifle seems too large for the model. I do love the idea that the minelayer, you know, has a mine.

A bit underwhelmed by Bruant. He looks emaciated. Now, I love MRRF, and I understand the Metros are about as basic as you can get, but I just expected something a bit more heroic.

QFT. I had the same problem with all the original metal Rackham Confrontation models. The figures were always so intricately detailed and expertly painted, I was afraid to paint them because they would look like garbage in comparison...

What is going on with Bruant's hat? If its supposed to be a beanie style, it should conform to the shape of his head, not extend it to some alien egg head proportion!

I'm gonna need to Pre-order the Naga Monomine, every Aleph player is going to want at least one so I expect shortages.
