I have a whole bunch of Star Wars maps (both the official ones from the WotC miniatures game / RPG and the unofficial ones from ArmoredCartographer / Adventurer's Atlas etc) and while they are really, really great, I'm not sure I'd want to use them for Infinity because there are too many corridors, doorways and chokepoints (like moving between a chair and a wall) that are 1 square wide. Apart from the implications of using a grid in the first place, this would be a real problem for TAGs and remotes (though not an issue for the models in the O:I box).

Personally I think the AT-43 tiles are really good if you want a 2D surface to play on although I appreciate that they aren't all that easy to find..

Most excellent. BoW is supposed to have coverage, but they take their time posting it.

In the meantime, it looks like at least one place in Spain has Icestorm up for pre-order http://www.e-minis.net/juegos-reglamentos/operation-icestorm-edicion-limitada-miniatura-exclusiva-p-67890.html and the Warstore too http://www.thewarstore.com/product93647.html for $100.99

The book contents are described on the Spanish site. Since I am a nice guy most of the time, a translation of sorts... It is 64 pages, 32 in English, 32 in Spanish. It includes a short guide to the Infinity universe, 5 tutorial missions, backgrounds and profiles for all the miniatures included-- including the 3 new profiles-- and the rules to play them. And advice on how to get deeper into the game. By way of comparison, the complete ruleset dowload is 57 pages. And this book will have art as well as the background material, so who knows how complete it will be. It will have Camo and Airborne deployment rules.

Icestorm...

Is the play mat really paper? How big is it? (4x4 i assume)

Has anyone seen the scenery pieces? What kind of scenery is it?

I'll still get it just for the Nomads, but how substantial is the other stuff in this box?

Is that a natural 21?

That's one of the reasons I find boarding actions and the like interesting. Chokepoints and nasty kill-corridors are the exact opposite of the issues one runs into on very open Infinity tables. Makes for a nice change.

Big things can only fit in certain areas, especially with the new 55mm bases. This gives infantry an advantage, and HI is really king in claustrophobic areas. It also makes the Geckos really better at boarding actions and fits their fluff well.

Oh, really? I'm going to have to find a set of those. Thanks for the recommendation!

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

I'm going to have to do some investigating with the infinity rules and my incoming battle systems terrain, it has these corridors and chokepoints of which are spoken.

You might find some rules that IJW came up with interesting (many props to him for these). Boarding action rules are on the second page. Great rules for doors, E/M weapons and hacking etc. through walls, etc. I've used these in about 10 boarding actions. The only change I would make is to have doors be hackable remotely (the rules say only in base contact). Makes things more interesting to let them be hacked from 8" away.

Anyways, see the pdf attached to this post.

I had an amazing fight against DeflaterMouse in some tunnels represented by Space Hulk corridors, using these rules for the doors. Got a Crane Agent-led kill Celestial Guard team into the corridors, thought I would pwn. Bastard locked me out of the objective room, then hacked my Crane Agent's power armor to immobilize him, then hunted down and executed all the Celestial Guard. But that shiz was -cinematic-. Which is why boarding actions, though bloody, are super fun.

Man, I would lose all spending control (and lots of Monday nights) if Acheron Falls included rules for boarding actions and zero-G combat.

I'll have to take a look at those then. It would be kind of amusing to hack a power armor inside a door frame, such that nobody could reasonably squeeze past... especially if you took out their engineer already

I read that all the models save the exclusives (Father Officer and the Healer) will "eventually" be released outside the box. I wouldn't count on that being this year.

Yes, they will become the new non-sectional starter for their faction.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.

Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

Then are we looking at nothing new for PanO until N3?

I'd expect to see more miniatures of the existing units of the box (O:I). For example, if it comes with 3 fusiliers with combi rifle, I'd expect a box of 4 fusiliers with more weapons. It's the trend that CB is following due to the 3d sculpting. The bodies are sculpted, you just have to change the weapon and repose.

The information given was that we would get the boxes a few months after Icestorm released. So I'd guess November, or December at the latest, in all probability. We are supposedly getting N3 before January too, so they may release in the same month. I bet they would like to release N3 in time for Christmas, which means that in order to be available here in the states, they would announce the release in October, since there is always that 1 month lag for the US.

I think the Fusiliers will follow the pattern set by the bolts too, althoug no idea if a limited time 3pack of the Fusiliers will be available, like with the bolts. I bet that is the plan for all LI. Speaking of which, whither the Ghulam box?

I personally don't see the Fusiliers going the route Bolts went with a separate 3 model blister. They did that because the other half of the Neoterra starter were repacks. A better example is the new Vanguard, which were in a completely new starter, which did not get a 3 model blister.

The new MAF and CJC starters did not have separate blisters because everything was completely new...but that does not necessarily mean that Bolts will not get a 3 model blister before the "new" PanO starter comes out. Same goes for Alguaciles and Nomads...

And quite frankly Mobile Brigada BETTER get a boxed set of their own.

So you're precedent for expecting them to get 3 model blisters is the precedent set for not doing 3 model blisters?

I think you're just being contrary to be contrary these days.

Bolts got 3 3 model blister because the other half of the set were repacks. Vanguards did not, because the entire MAF starter was new. The entire new starters for PanO and Nomads are new, like the MAF starter. Recent events indicate Fusiliers and Alguaciles won't get 3 model blisters.

Brigada getting a box of their own is practically a certainty these days. They're linkable right? There will be a box to fill out a link using the model in that starter for Corregidor players, using the 3D sculpts to quickly create the models.

My point is that in regards to the NeoTerran set, you were looking at perfectly serviceable and relatively "new" sculpts that were blended with the brand new sculpts.

With CJC and MAF, you were looking at entire redesigns of the ranges to the point where the preexisting stuff looks like it comes from a different game entirely.

Well, the actual reason that I was told in regards to why Bolts got a 3 model blister versus the Wildcats or Vanguard is because Bolts fit into a lot more than simply NeoTerra in large numbers.

Now the same argument could be made for Vanguard, but apparently they are trying to push for more variety than simply "Morats are the CA line troops".

Brigada getting a box of their own is practically a certainty these days. They're linkable right? There will be a box to fill out a link using the model in that starter for Corregidor players, using the 3D sculpts to quickly create the models.

There are 3 profiles(with a 4th profile as Lieutenant but sharing the same MULTI Rifle build as the 'basic' MB) currently. They are AVA5 or 6(Army Builder is not loading properly right at the moment and I don't trust Campaign: Paradiso at the moment) in Corregidor. There is no "box to fill out a link using the model in that starter" like they have been touting as their new plan. Either they're just going to repackage the MB from Icestorm or they're going to make a new, fourth sculpt and give it the generic "pewpew pointing" pose.

Surely the ''pewpew pointing'' pose is a good thing, i mean at least one guy should be taking himself seriously and aiming down the sights instead of pulling a dynamic ginyu force pose, right? Not that those aren't fun...

To give an example of the "pewpew pointing pose", look at the Briscard box. You have one model purposely given nothing but the Assault Pistol so that he can be a proxy.
