Indeed fantastic models as CB has made us expect from them and on top of that a great starter set.

Jeebus... I think this set might have finally just tipped me over onto the 'Must buy some Infinity' side of the fence...

Can't wait to see some "Painted by Insaniak" Infinity stuff then.

Well, if I was inclined to play Nomads, that Mobile Brigada would certainly tempt me.

Alas, my budget and plans have been set for Ariadna and CA/Morats for the forseeable future.

Mildly puzzled, everybody keeps asking for diagonal roads for infinity boards in all the mat threads, but here we have an official (if paper) mat and it has straight roads (with buildings used to block fire lanes)

EDIT: genuinely puzzled as I had begun to think diagonal roads might be in the Infinity rules

Both work in Infinity. Some players believe that diagonal roads are inherently better for LoF blocking. Generally, the solution to better LoF blocking is better terrain placement. And judicious use of scatter pieces. The solution to make all happy is a 2 sided mat, diagonal on one side, straight on the other.

Man oh Man! Those nomads are great. My QK will be very happy to welcome that Mobile Brigada. Pan-O is mixed. I like the old Akalis helmet better. The Nisse is standing on a briefcase and such a nice sculpt. Lady Fusilier (and Alguacila) hacker proxies? Othewise nice sculpts, not so good poses. all IMHO BTW. The ORC pose reminds me of the Cutter's. Lol.

Overall, outstanding stuff. It looks like an excellent starter. I see the silhouette LoF template is included. (It'll be a new N3 rule) Now to figure out where and whether to pre-order, or spend the extra $$$ and ask my GenCon Ninja to get it.

So it looks like they've changed the way they do combi rifles for nomads then? Those guns don't look anything like the combi rifles my guys have... I mean, that's a good thing probably... those are scaled better, smaller and what-not. So even the spektr has a combi, huh. What do we think it is that the mobile brigada has, it looks different.

The terrain looks extremely playable, and I am impressed with the amount for the starter. If it's flimsy, we can always build a box out of foamcore board and use the box terrain as a skin for that...

I like the panO stuff way more than I thought i would too! Though I have to agree with earlier sentiments... the female fusileer is pretty gimp compared to the two dudes, they've got more gear, beefier armor, and look way more like soldiers.. she looks like she's making a fashion statement and found a gun laying around with which to accessorize.

The female alguacile is a bit better, still shrimpy, but her kit isn't missing as many pieces like her pan-o counterpart.

Those combi rifles are the "new" Combi Rifle design for Nomads. It has been since the Corregidor starter box.

Oh yeah, the snow-dude standing on a brief case kind of puts him a bit off if you wanted to use him in a svar... yeah... in his home sectorial.

Ahh yeah, the corregidor box and that one interventor, I'd never looked that closely at the corregidor box i guess.

I'm a bit disappointed in terrains. All of them are nice but kind of too bright and colourful for my taste. The models on the other hand are just pure awesomeness.

I'm loving the Nomads. Not so much the PanO, but they are quite cool. And BoW must be sleeping. I don't understand.

Scenery is Meh, is that a paper mat? Models are lovely but it's not an immediate buy for starters.

I know where you are coming from. Infinity seems to be shuffling away from its anime roots and more towards a European sci-fi style.

@Siygess I noticed the gender gap too. Not just the model count, but the two line troopers that are female are both posing. Come on CB!

At least the Alg could be hacking something? I find less excuse for the fusileer.

Noticed the trend in models for a while, but the 2D art has stayed closer to anime roots. I was going to blame lazy CG sculptors since I know anime styling can be done in CG sculpted miniatures. But now the 2D art is abandoning the anime aesthetic... ~sigh~

I think that's just the mini-rulebook cover. The main box cover is not far off the last books in terms of artwork. (I did prefer HS to Paradiso though, and HS looked kind of a like an old movie poster too).

I think there was a change from the really early stuff already in HS and Paradiso though, but going more to a 'modern GITS' as opposed to an earlier style.

its recent: the gak started with Stephan Rao, 6 month ago ?

they clearly want to grab USA people with comics aesthetics: bodybuilder and pinups
i'm not a huge fan of manga either but the genre difference (male/female) makes all this laughable;
I miss the order sergent perfection era

But nothing that massive conversion could solve

BoW put the video in ... 360 p xD

Something more recent than Dire Foes then I guess? I thought the animesque aesthetic was quite in effect for the Dire Foes boxes.

Oh please. The pinups were in long before now. Pretending that it is something new is disingenuous.

And no, the "gak" did not start with Stephen Rao. It has been happening off and on since Human Sphere which was years ago. The only difference is that it was generally being reserved for things like special characters.

Also for anyone who has 50 minutes to burn:

Technically excellent sculpts, certainly amongst the best available, but the anime aesthetic leaves me cold and the overly sexualised female models does nothing to endear them to me either. I would like to start Infinity but I can't see it ever happening.

Those minis are absolutely incredible.

I would buy this set just for them, despite not having a need for anything else within the set.

Nomad HI is a MASSIVE improvement over the previous miniature.

I'm watching the BOW video now.

The mat is rather pants really, it's basically a poster - it's basically the Dropzone Commander mats than something proper like say, Deadzone's. At least Dropzone doesn't really sell it as more than a guide (heck, they even say 'hey there's a poster on the other side).

The terrain at least, is roughly analogous to Dropzones. So no complaints there.

However, at the moment, I'm talking about 15 minis for £75 (Or £60 from wayland, maybe, assuming they still have the exclusive mini and add in shipping too).

And I don't quite know yet if the rulebook is going to be in Spanglish or English... And it's just an introductory book according to Waylands list and the earlier chat on the thread.

In saying that, I do kinda like the minis. Do I like the minis for £4 each...I uh, dunno.

Also, if I'm looking for the convention minis (bike lady and cosplay lady) too, aren't they only available from Corvus Belli's site, in Euros, as opposed to £ UK.

I can't help but get the feeling that this game isn't for me.

Game is great but the starter set does not seem so, yeah the minis look good but everything else looks meah and only starter rules is making this a miss for me (Hawk Wargames starter set for DZC is still the best out there im afraid, you even get a full rulebook!).

you cut half of my sentence, body builder male start with stephan Rao and before that: pin up female were not 100% but a small portion of the release.
the new art direction is putting female to an object stupid state, before that they where soldiers like the others (exemplesrder sergents perfection, again; all ALEPH early release -naga dasyu etc..)

the human sphere release is for me the best that infinity have made.

Anyway, enjoy operation icestorm, it's rocks, even if it's far from being perfect to my eyes, i'm still buying one :p

Rule book is in English on one side Spanish the other. Like product guides are here in the US ( or English and French if they are from//going to Canada)

Looking at the female Alguacil again, I can imagine a hacker holo at her fingertip quite easily. I can also see her as an Lt model-- pointing at someplace and barking out an order, "You over there. Lay down some suppression fire!" I cannot say the same for the female Fusilier. The classic "Yes!" pose is quite out of place.

I think the MB wins this one. But that ORC is close.

Any clue when Miniature Market will have it for pre-order?

I don't love the Orc pose as much as the MB.

Still will happily paint both eventually. Paper mat seems like a bummer but I didnt get 4x4' of deadzone mat to use something else anyway.
