Odd. You would have thought that if you were incredibly depressed that you would make some happy cutesy anime with catgirls in maid outfits serving drinks and having cuddles to cheer you up.

Instead he made the single most disturbing thing ever. Reservoir Dogs looks like Cardcaptor Sakura next to NGE.

Ugh.

Also, PASTAAAAAAA!

Started watching Myself, Yourself. Seems pretty good, but thanks to the hunk of crap we have for a computer the Crunchyroll playback is terrible.

Ok, looked it up, according to the Manga it's an Ausf D. (other tanks spotted, Matilda II's, a Churchill, a Tiger, A Pz35(t), M3 Lee (hot pink....), a Crusader III on a magazine cover, a Type 97 (?), and a StuG, Sadly, the CGI tanks do not blend well.

Also, in the end credits, a T-34 is silhouetted and there are some M4 Shermans.

Managed to finish episode 1 of Myself, Yourself despite the antivirus slowing the computer down and making the playback freeze up (I hate McAffee).

Really funny, well animated, and cute. Recommended to anybody who likes a more light hearted, laid back anime.

what a coincidence, I am trying to watch that as well lol My only problem right now is that every site I've found that has it dubbed has low quality video.

I will...never be a memory

You could get the DVD or watch the subbed version.

ya or kill myself...I don't like any of those options.

I'm surprised that such a famous movie isn't plastered everywhere dubbed. Ever since megaupload got busted in their booze cruise jacuzzi availability went down for a lot of old stuff I tried to watch. Dono if its the same for everyone else

Dare I say though, the dub isn't as good as the sub. Julianne Anderson can Not voice act.

Dubbed? ahahaaaaa. I will never. Ever. Ever watch a Dub.

Watching Madoka Magic. There's a lot of subtle undertones about Suicide, values, and personal ambition. I have a hunch that there's a bit of a movement to address Japan's huge social dysfunctions going on in the anime industry. We have the same problems over here, of course, but Japan has a big problem with it, especially among kids straight out of high school. Quote sad really.

But yeah, it's a suprisingly good anime. The characters are pretty likable, and the papercraft witch things are refreshing.

The only thing I've watched where I preferred the dub to the sub is Axis Powers: Hetalia, which was dubbed really well (IE, the voice actors sounded as though they were actually trying) by Funimation, and due to the nature of the show, it sounds better in your own language. Nothing quite compares to "Hey, wait! SMORES ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE CHOCOLATE! Let's teach them a lesson!".

Otherwise...dubs are universally terrible.

Here's an interesting idea: Neon Genesis Evangelion if it had been dubbed by 4kids.

Yes. Only a few dubs i've heard are god and FMA is one of them. both the brothers and mustang have voices that I feel really well fit the characters and greatly assist the show. I've got a signature from the guy that does Ed too btw

The other anime that I found the dub was good too was Code Geass. The voices in it I found good too and if you own the dvd, you might notice just how simmer the different voices of Luluch are to each other.

I liked Leluch and I caught that in the dub. Also saw the first Eureka Seven series in dub. Hard for me to compare though as I've never seen the subbed version. FMA is one of the few where I've seen both versions.

The only dub that inspired hatred in me was the goddess-awful dub for Love Hina, which frankly should be considered offensive to any English speaker.

Dub are super hit and miss. Some are really good. Others are bafflingly bad.

Like the original dub of Gundam 00, where young people sounded like old folks and old folks sounded like... five year olds...

Gurren Lagan I think had a good Dub, as do the anime's done by Adult Swim (Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Eureka Seven, etc.).

The only dubs I've Hated we're Mononoke because of Juliane Anderson and One Piece because of all the rewrites, and One Piece I didn't even hate until after seeing the sub and realizing what all they changed.

Ah, poor One Piece. If I remember rightly the 4Kids version replaced all the guns in it with water pistols and pop guns.

Egad.

Well started watching Chuunibyou Demo Koi Ga Shitai. Kind of interesting in that all the strange crap that happens is just the delusion of the main character.

Sort of a blunt way of putting it would be to think of Haruhi, but if it was just her imagination.

Does anyone else find the Ohmu from Nausicaa extremely Tyranidish? I might base a Tyranid conversion on one.

Damn that film was so so awesome. I need to get myself the DVD.

I've been watching that. It's very good and quite funny. The site annoyingly can't seem to keep track of the 3 minute spin-off series that airs as-well and we keep ending up with the 3 minute episodes in the normal episode page.

I was going to check out that Madoka Magica but its not on the site I watch anime on on my phone. It's apparently on Hulu though so I'll have to check it out at home.

Jumping back to this, I heard something along the lines of the reason the Japanese porn industry is so prolific is to encourage sexuality in the younger generations, apparently something like 40% of the younger population is saying they're completely asexual. It would make sense they're working to address other major social issues through major pop culture conduits. Shove a two hour long PSA about how suicide is bad into someone's face and it'll only make them MORE LIKELY to commit suicide (joking there... though Marine Corps suicide awareness briefs certainly could make me fantasize about death by the third or so hour...) but if you weave those types of positive messages into a solid plot about magical girls kicking cosmic tail... well at the very least more people will watch it and pay attention, even willingly so, which means there's a higher chance of getting one's message out there/

By the way, just finished 567 of One Piece. Looks like only two episodes in the pipe until I'm stuck waiting for the new one every week like with Naruto.

Interesting.

So if I ever get caught watching porn I can say it's for the good of Japan.
