So today was my birthday and one of the gifts I received was the Strike Witches 2 blu-ray box set. I'm rather excited to watch it, as I've only seen it once before with an english sub.

I am asking the same thing. I might give Attack on Titan (or whatever it is called) a try since it seems to be stepping out what most cutesy anime are coming out now.
Although I might watch this for the lulz.

Was looking forward to the series and watched the first two episodes. Still kind of in the its alright category. It's still setting stuff up and hasn't really shown all its got yet, so it's not amazing for me yet, but I can see it getting to that point with what we've seen so far. Was waiting for another episode or two before I brought it up on here.
Also started watching Psycho Pass after it was mentioned here. Definitely a good call and I'm only like four or five eps in.
Attack on Titan is kinda annoying me with a VERY slow set up. It's a 26 episode series though I believe so I'm hoping it's going to pay out the long set up time in spades later. The OP Crimson Bow and Arrows is freaking AWESOME too.
Also Crunchy Roll on my Xbox is one of the best possible things ever.
edit since this thread's been freaking dead! Just finished Otome Youkai Zakuro. Not a bad anime, but it's labeled as seinen, don't be fooled, it's shojo in disguise, useless bishis being saved by pretty girls with fox ears every where. However I enjoyed the cast enough to stick it out past the lamer moments, Zakuro herself besides being OP as all hell, is one of the best balanced tsundere characters I've ever seen, so for a cliche riddled anime that was beautifully executed by both voice actors and the art team I award this a 7/10. It's a nice 13 episode length and is available for free on crunchy roll.

I like attack on Titan so far I'm also watching this anime at club that's about a little girl who is the illegitimate daughter of some old guy who dies. No one is willing to take her in, so this single adult male who was the old guy's grandson takes her in. Sorry I can't remember the name of it, but its way to cute. I feel like I'm gonna be sick whenever I'm watching it : P

As an avid watcher of the new animus, being two weeks into this new season I'm finding myself into quite a few shows this season. Which is surprising becuase there usually is too many fanservice-y shows. I can't stand those, so I really have to look to find the plot hiding amongst the hype of generic moe/pantyshots/softcore porn shows.
Anywho, this is what I've found this season, maybe you guys would enjoy it too:
1) Railgun S - Obviously if you love Index/Railgun, you'll love this. Even better than the first season of Railgun with less slice of life and more juicy juicy plot. I could talk for ages on how much I enjoy the setting of Index/Railgun and how I actually found a show with superpowers that I can enjoy!
2) Suisei no Gargantia - Epic animation, unique story. Mecha pilot from humanity ventured into space ends up getting lost and crash landing on a "lost" planet, having to learn how to survive with the locals. Third episode has aired, I'll be watching it tomorrow morning. I can't wait!
3) Aku no Hana - Based off a manga I havn't read (as usual) it's about a high school student that gets caught stealing his crush's gym clothes by another girl who choses to blackmail him. Not for everyone, it's definitely unique animation by utilizing rotoscoping. Mixed reviews following the third episode but I've enjoyed it up to the second. Will be watching it on wednesday.
4) Red Data Girl - Centers around a girl living in a mountain viliage who has huge troubles using technology (phones, computers, etc) keep breaking. She's shy yet her parents are stressing her to go to a school in the city. A unique, supernatural coming of age story for sure. I've enjoyed it.
5) Devil Survivor 2 - No, there was no Devil Survivor 1, this is an anime adapatation of the second game of the Shin Megami Tensei series (like Persona 4 before it) I enjoy SMT games so I've been enjoying following this. Centered around a demon invasion, the main characters find they can suddenly summon their own demons from a mysterious app they received on their phones one day.
Aaaaaaaaaarrrggg I want to like Attack On Titan more than I currently do. It's just So Slow so far. Spent an entire episode on how he really wants to be a soldier, but he Sucks at using the required equipment no matter how much he practices, then last minute "oh, your belt was defective, you're actually just fine at using it, sorry". The shows premise and opening scenes cry out for an action anime, but so far it's just been all talk. Still gonna keep watching it because I still think its gonna go somewhere awesome.
Also yeah, watching the new season of Railgun, which I prefer over Index. Index annoys me because its a fairly normal dude, who surrounds himself with superpowered bad arses, but when he gets in a fight the first thing he does it tell all of them to go away so he can just run at the superpowered bad arse evil dude and try to punch them. Plus theirs my general annoyance over dumb fan service and harem comedy which the series is flush with. Railgun actually has the superpowered fighting it out against the other superpowered and pretty much none of my other annoyance.
Just saw a listing for that Gargantia last night and put it on a list of something to check out. Will definitely have to make sure I do now that its also getting a note from someone here.
Not heard of Red Data, but that sounds interesting, may check that out.
Alreadying watching and mentioned Devil Survivor which I like. Still sticking with my previous description of a Grim Dark Digimon series.
I'll second Gargantia, I think it's going to end up being the stand out of the season for me with it's unique world, solid animation and extremely enjoyable characters.
I listed my issues with Titan earlier but other stuff from this season I'm enjoying:
Mushinbugyo is decent enough to keep my attention, but it's pretty standard issue giant insect fighting samurai stuff so far.
Sparrow's Hotel appears to be a collection of 3 minute shorts with a lower quality animation style, interesting characters and decent humor if you have a taste for the absurd. It's about what you'd expect if you stuck a busty ninja girl into a job as a hotel front desk worker.
Concur again with Aduro, Red Data Girl sounds like fun!

I love Index/Railgun because of how everything tends to "mesh" together. Yes, there's some cheeky fanservice thrown in but the plot/setting is WAY to interesting for me to put down. I tend to prefer Index because it focuses on the world as a whole (Churches vs Science). Also, I think Touma's critical issue solving strategy of a well placed right-hook is really awesome and always gives the Gurren Lagan feel to the climax of the fight. But he can't really do it alone, he's got no powers besides his Imagine Break, which is quite usless in day-to-day life, so he has to rely on these other people who have been slowly gathering around him as a "beacon of hope". The harem aspect just comes from the fact that everyone recognizes how important he is as a person so guys want to fight for him and girls want to... well, you get it. I actually had a hard time starting the first season of Railgun because of the lack of this aspect (even though Biribiri is my second favorite character behind Touma). At first it was just a rather stale slice of life until they developed the new characters more and you learned what it means to live in Academy City. Then it became better. Railgun S has a little bit of that left, but definitely is focusing more heavily on sweet, juicy plot and will have Touma and Accelerator which makes me super excited.

To sum it up: Humans fight for survival against giants.
That looks awesome.
I'm completely up to date on the manga for this (and have been waiting for the anime a bit). Just a heads up, this series has some extreme gore. It's awesome as balls though.
Also, for anyone thinking it's too slow. Trust me, there will be some MIND=BLOWN moments in this. Kind of odd they aren't sticking to the manga's sequence of events though. That training bit was actually a flashback like 20-30 chapters into it IIRC. It's also impossible to fit this series in 26 episodes since the manga is already on chapter 43 with around 35-40 pages per chapter. (the avarage manga has 15-20 pages per chapter for those unaware)
I fear this anime may go the route of Air Gear, awesome without a proper ending. :(

Oh side note, I've also been watching Oriemo on and off, it's got some squicky edges but it's interesting how it has a duel level set up to explore the various tropes related to Otaku and dating sim games... while at the same time using them in the anime's over arching plot with the main character. Not for everyone... me included.
Oh and it's OP for season 1 at least is done by Claris, which can only be a positive thing.

Yeah. I've caught up on the manga as well and I'm glad they're doing what they're doing in the anime;
In the manga the back story for the characters is spread over the length of several very badly placed flash backs that happen in the middle of the action. It really annoyed me while reading the manga that the writer did that so I'm overjoyed the Anime's team decided to gather all that back story up and make it the first 3 episodes so we won't have it interrupting the awesomeness.
The story took a different turn than I was expecting but it is pretty awesome. Though the story is Lost style in that it at times has plot twists that come from right field and seemingly make no sense. Hoping the mangaka starts writing in some answers soon XD
Not super worried about the length of the chapters. Of the forty chapters the training flash backs make up about 5 of them and they condensed all of that into 1 episode and skipped the rest. The manga has a habit of rambling on and there's a lot of material that can be cut out without sacrificing anything. More likely I think the anime will have an abrupt ending that makes little sense (sadly). Several chapters are also pure action and those chapters can be played out on screen in about 5 minutes. EDIT: If I'm guessing right for example the first 20 chapters can be covered in about 13 episodes (including the already made 3).

I am amazed they didn't manage to spoil one of the biggest things in the series in the intro, since anime have a bad habit of doing that.
Yes! Anime do do that and they did not! It's pretty sweet. Much like the manga the anime seems willing to take its time to develop which is a good thing.

Partially, it's probably because so many Anime are based on manga and light novels the creators probably assume that the audience is already vaguely aware of the plot, but even in Japan Attack on Titan seems to be largely unknown. A bit of a sleeper hit. EDIT: And a bit of that is probably because the artwork for AoT is kind of... bland. Very 1990's in style and not that imaginative. A lot of readers have probably completely overlooked it.

currently working my way through toriko....i kinda hope they don't do any more crossovers with one piece, since it gets sillier then normal during them
Just finished Heaven's Memo Pad
Heaven's Memo Pad creates a beautiful and powerful world. The NEETs, their version of Tokyo, the culture that exists around them was powerful and compelling, and the rich characters over their story arcs are worthy of the world they live in. I honestly can't say enough for the show and about it, so I'll stay silent instead.
More stuff from the current season:
My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU - Rom Com that goes heavy on the snark? Yes please. Even if you do want to strangle the male and female leads for being pretentious idiots now and then.

I've not watched any Toriko and also hope they don't do more cross overs with One Piece which I do watch. They did do one just a week or so ago though that was Toriko/One Piece/Dragonball so you still have that to look forward to.

Well, there's a very easy explanation for that. This is the guys very first manga. He's doing the writing and art himself too. Also, it's not overlooked in Japan. It's already won some awards.
If quickly leaf through the chapters you can see a steady improvement over time in the actual art. Especialy on the special types.
Also, question for you lord of hats. And other people Don't touch this, major spoilers. Seriously, if you aren't up to date on the manga DONT TOUCH THIS.
Spoiler:
Who the hell do you think the beast type is? Since we now know who's inside every special type except for that. I keep getting an itch telling me it's the father but it just doesn't add up.... also... WHAT'S IN THE FETHING BASEMENT?!
