Oi! Respect for the anime series, it was the one responsible for presenting Alucard and Seras to many people, including me And the Priest is fething awesome.

Just Watch Hellsing Ultimate Abridged, it's better.
Still love Hellsing Ultimate though. Freaking BA series.
My guess is that they won't be airing Roberta's OVA series for Black Lagoon as last night the last of the main BL episodes aired. So either their cutting up the OVA into 30 minute segments or they might be cutting Samurai Jack from their lineup, as I think that one is also close to the end of its run. EDIT: Hellsing Ultimate will be taking over for Black Lagoon and uncut Naruto for ten weeks while it airs the full OVAs.

Yeah, but Helsing Abridged gave me this small clip that's in my favorites ready to be sent any time:
I just love it

I love the jokes Alucard makes at the Catholic Church's expense in that series. Freaking brutal. There need to be more clips from it on Youtube that are easy to grab. Some of the best bits just aren't available XD Also the only thing on Twitter I've ever enjoyed.

Ah, DBZ:A. I remember watching Dragon Ball Kai as it was airing new episodes and when they showed the Freiza Saga, I just blanked out and remembered this;
When I was a kid watching DBZ, that didn't creep me out at all but now I go back and see this and all I can think how creepy Vegeta was in that moment with that face.
Whelp, with all the train rides managed to finish Gosick. I still think it isn't a "HOLY gak" anime, but some cases were really cool. The Queen Coco's was fantastic.
Spoiler:
But stuff like the "Masquerade" episode were ... urgh. What an horrible episode. Ah well, the scene with Victorique's mother going totally NINJA! on the Marquis' ass was all kinds of good.
Oh and a 1924's nation going all "TOWAR!!!" because of a fictional monster was... lol. Ah yes, the great war of 1924, the horrible WWII. I really wanted them to show WWIII but alas, pity. The "Roaring 20s" was a good war too. */SARCASM*
But ok, the ending was beautiful. They really deserved that end.
Managed to watch all the SOA I was missing, Akame Ga Kill too.
SOA... I love Death Gun. Enough said.
Akame ga kill: I love the "villains". Love them so much
Spoiler:
The entire team is fantastic The cop is a complete nuts FOR JUSTICE (can totally picture her in the mythical "LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWW" scene from Judge Dredd), the masked pyromancer is the nicest guy and married for 6 years, the "angel" kills people with feathers. FEATHERS. The scientist is "LOL", Akame's sister is kinda "meh" and the sea dude is just a poor bastard.
Oh, and Esdeath is just sexy evil. Evil is just so damn sexy.

Just started re-watching the English dub of Shinchan, much to the disgust of most of my friends. For some reason only one other person I know actually likes Shinchan. The rest seem to think of it as slightly less entertaining than having their genitals massaged with a cheese grater. Okay, I know why one of my friends dislike the show: her son loves it and tries to imitate Shin (ass-dance and everything) but why the rest hate it is a mystery.
Anyone else familiar with the show? Anyone else like/loathe it?
Emperor's Eagles (undergoing Chapter reorganization)
Caledonian 95th (undergoing regimental reorganization)
Thousands Sons (undergoing Warband re--- wait, are any of my 40K armies playable?)

Oh yes. It's the weirdest thing with that series. Esdeath and her little team, despite being the villains are way more enjoyable and fun than the heroes. Night Raid has good characters, but the heroes are the most uninteresting part of the series. The child molesting clown (if that villain makes his appearance in the anime) is more interesting, and I feel so dirty saying that I don't watch the anime, but I do read the Manga and it is a breath of fresh air, avoiding most of the really cliche aspects of battle series and constantly keeping me on my toes. I hope the Anime carries to at least the end of the first story arc.
Spoiler:
And don't worry about Kurome. She becomes way more intriguing as the series goes on
Also, don't you DARE insult Wave!

I like Naruto's development over time, even though he still stays a knucklehead through out the first series, he does grow quite a bit for the time frame one assumes is covered. The ridiculous backstory frontloading tapers off after a point and the middle of the series after they get rid of a certain annoying "avenger"(good riddance! what an annoying character!) is my favorite. Most of the random/monster of the week once-off episodes or mini-arcs are rather fun.
Gonna have to find something else to watch soon I guess.
I can give you a link to Naruto Shippuden if you like. I think it's quite superior to the original.
Yeah, especially given that most of the original is made up of very poor filler episodes (though the episode where they try to find out what's under Kakashi's mask is pretty funny).
The other mask part was pretty amusing. Where do you get your shippuden Overlord? If he was inventive in the first series, he's even more so there what with using the frogs to subcontract other element types and whatever else he eventually comes up with. I think I'd be a little sad moving on though, sounds like it kinda goes the same way all of those do what with everyone getting ridiculously powerful and such.

*high five* I too liked Black Lagoon much more than Cowboy Beebop. Don't forget it also has Balalaika. Sweet, sweet Balalaika.

I think I remember her being really happy that she was killing Nazis...or was that Alucard? It's been too long.
To be fair though, Nazis are fair game. They are like, fiction's favorite dead horse...That's also a zombie, so it should be flogged even harder.
I know it sounds nitpicky, but does it slightly bother anyone else that she is not Reby? I mean, I get that its due to transliteration but still it's...inconsistent.
Same thing with Lotten...it should really be Rotten.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Guys, I just had a strange thought...what if Revy met Alucard? Would that be an apocalypse level event?

There are many issues to face when trying to translate from Japanese to English, as it's not always a direct one to one translation.
In fact, it rarely is.
Many words and idiomatic expressions don't have an English equivalent, some things need cultural context, and so on. Right now though, I wanted to talk about names. Names that aren't native to Japanese in particular.
I'm sure many of you already know this, but written japanese is made up of Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji.
Kanji are Chinese characters. 忍、念、男、女、刀 星、闇、殺
But of them, Japan has designated roughly 1,945 for general usage. Each one has its own (sometimes multiple) meaning, and multiple pronunciations based on context.
力 means "strength" and is pronounced "chikara" however it can be pronunced "riki" when used in certain combinations.
馬力 bariki "horsepower" or it could also be "ryoku" when combined here 協力 kyouryoku "cooperation".
Hiragana and Katakana are Japanese Alphabets. These characters have no meaning on their own. Each is a phonetic (A, Ka, Sa, Ta, Ha, Ma, etc.)
Hiragana are used for native Japanese words and parts of speech. It looks like this:
あのさぁ、ぼくはかめがすきですけど。
Katakana on the other hand is used for non-native Japanese words or certain kinds of emphasis and looks like:
ナンデロボットガカタカナシカシャベレナイ
So for every name that is not a traditional Japanese name, it ends up spelled out phonetically within the constraints of the Japanese Alphabet. While some are fairly obvious or use common conventions for converting to English, others can be much more obscure. There's not necessarily any fully right way to go about it. There may be some outright wrong ways at times, and some almost certainly correct ways but you can never be certain until the author states how it's spelled in English.
For example, let's look at the character who up till recently was known as "Branchi" in Toriko.
His name was spelled out as BU-RA-N-CHI.
The first thing I do as a translator is look at it and see if it resembles any real life names.
Hrmmm... Nada.
Next, I just go over some possibilities: Branchie, Branchy, Buranty, etc...
Without finding anything I was too excited about, I stuck with something close to the phonetic pronunciation and hopefully safe... "Branchi." (Was never happy with that.)
Recently, "Buranchi" was revealed to be one of a group of three characters.
The other two were "DI-N-NA-A" and "NO-SHU."
So with "Dinner" and "Nosh" as two parts of a three man set and trying to figure out how "Branchi" fit with that, his name suddenly became obvious:
"Brunch"
Until something gets officially printed, it's pretty much up to the translator's discretion to decide what's gonna pass as a character's name.
Once something appears in canonical print always takes precedence.
That's a general golden rule.
For example, Roronoa Zoro.
I had always assumed the Zoro was after Zorro, the masked fictional character.
(I could be wrong on that part.)
However, as for the name "Roronoa"--
"Roronoa" is undoubtedly "L'Olonnais" from Francois L'Olonnais, a french pirate.
Buuuut his name has appeared as "Roronoa" in print by Oda numerous times, so Roronoa it is.
That's just the tip of the iceberg really. Once you get into the names of attacks and techniques or made-up concepts, along with creative and inventive kanji usage, there's a whole other world of interpretation to deal with. But I think I've rambled long enough for now.
If you found any of this interesting, had any questions about any of the translation process, drop a comment and I'll do my best to get back to you!! I find this stuff interesting myself and thought you might.
Thanks as always for reading.

Technically, Alucard is an unkillable Eldrich Abomination even a hyper powered Anderson couldn't beat, so I think she'd get wreck like everyone he fights

Oh... Oh my...
They might start painting the town red, but Alucard would end up licking too many things and Revy would get bored waiting for him to stop posing, so she would wander off and abuse Rock again.

Been rereading Until Death Do Us Part from start to finish, and my only thought is wth doesn't this manga have an Anime XD It's basically Black Lagoon with a blind swordsmen and a little girl who sees the future. Damn show would probably be a killer in the US, yet nearly 200 chapters and no Anime.
