It gets better. Whoever was in charge of animation got the hang of it with the more eps they did. For me it was one the last season's best animes with probably the best opening. The music is fantastic and I really liked the lyrics.
By the end the animation was better by leaps and bounds and it showed in the action scene. The final fight was all kinds of fantastic and honestly, it has the line "I want an Exterminatus on that planet." You can't beat that.

Knights of Sidonia's anime I found subpar, both because of the weak animation (Kingdom has set the standard for CGI anime, lets just get up on that level people!). My issue with the series really is that it never got to the part of the manga that's actually good. Until Tsugemori arrives, Knights of Sedonia was blandish, but once she appears the story really starts picking up.

Well, good thing Season 2's confirmed then!

RWBY is an animated series in the style of Anime by Rooster Teeth, the guys who make Red VS Blue.
And yes, that's the voice of Cortana, those guys have good connections.
If you are interested, here are the 4 main character trailers which are quite lengthy.

I've decided to start following series again rather than being a lazy ass clown who speedruns through a show long after it is finished. Among shows that are currently airing, I have seen:
Aldnoah.Zero and Zankyou Terror, which probably vie for the top spot in the current anime season for me. Akame Ga Kill!, which at first glance seemed really stupid and tryhard, and after my second, third, fourth, and fifth glance still largely is, but gosh if it isn't fun. It helps that it has a pretty likable cast, if not the most complex one. I'm watching Tokyo ESP, which is pretty fun so far as well and probably has a more compelling rogues gallery than Akame Ga Kill's so far. The Professor is a pretty cool young man. My boyfriend who isn't actually my boyfriend also has me watching .hack Sign.
Oh, and I decided to watch Sakura Trick, hating myself for it, ended up enjoying it, and I hate myself for it.
I think that's about all I've seen since my last update.

This season has had a disappointing amount of Nora thus far.

This is true.
That said, I still vote Yang for best character, mostly because Barbara voices her and I love the RT podcast.

Indeed. I still consider the JNPR team to be more interesting than the RWBY team.
Speaking of team RWBY, has anyone else noticed that they appear to follow RPG team composition? Yang is the tank / Berserker Weiss is the mage Ruby is the archer / ranged character Blake is the rogue / Assassin

Ruby has gone into melee plenty of times too. Probably closest to a ranger I guess.
Wow crap just got real in Knights of Sidonia. The attrition rate is this high in the first few episodes and there's enough people left alive for season 2?

Sad thing is, I could totally see Nora in a top hat/mustache combo.
Seriously though, Juane's character development in the last episode made me love the guy even more (no homo).
I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.
I was more like "whoa there Jaun. You have this cute red head here, who clearly likes you, and you're chasing the girl who doesn't like you? That's socially awkward guy mistake number 1 bro"
I really can't decide if I like Knights of Sidonia. I like several things. But the show is starting to flat out reek of harem. Guh. The bear is also kind of throwing me off. Just a little.
Also.
What is this I see on my netflix, Ghost in the Shell ARISE? This could be worth watching?

GSA is a reimagining of Ghost in the Shell, not a sequel or prequel (though the series does start before the formation of Section 8). It is an OVA series and will consist of 4 episodes I believe. I found the first episode kind of 'meh' but the second and third are fantastic. While Stand Alone Complex was good, it was more of a straight thriller with less of the mystery of the film. GSA recaptures the mystery aspects of the films while maintaining the thriller elements of the anime series.
Hmm Psycho-Pass looks interesting too.
Highly recommended. Excellent series.
Hunter X Hunter?
Imagine DBZ, but constantly on hiatus because the author is in poor health and forgetting the entire story by the time he's well enough to start up again.

Oh don't let me dissuade you. Hunter x Hunter is good (if you like DBZ, or YuYu Hakusho you'll like it) but be warned that the anime has suffered as a result of the manga authors poor health. A very old school style action series.

All four episodes of Arise are out. Got three and four watched this past week and I thought they were alright. Major continues her unhealthy obsession with trying to rip reinforced tank hatches off with her bare hands though.
Well, finished what they had of KoS. Didn't realize there were only 12 episodes currently. Intense. Definitely got better as it went. I should like to see more when that comes about, quite a few strings to be cut or tied up.

Told ya It's the most disguised harem I ever saw, since, ya know, many of them die and a certain member of the harem is very strange

Wakfu is fairly standard in terms of story, but the animation is worth watching the whole thing through. It's all done in Flash and as the series picks up around episode 10 it starts getting really good (the last few episodes of season 1 and 2 are shockingly dark for a children's series). The characters and the animation are what really makes the series stand out, namely Ruel, Amalia, and Percidal*.
*One of my favorite parts of the series is how it constantly mocks the 'knight in shining armor' cliches and then picks up as Percidal goes from wannabe rescuer of damnsels to total bad ass
GrimDork wrote: Huh are we counting the captain and the Bear at this point? 'Cause you almost could...
Oh, the Captain I feel totally is
Spoiler:
But the Bear, not so much, she's more of a mother-figure.
The really strange harem member is the alien placenta thing that had the shape of the girl he liked. Problem is, she was cute as sin. That scene she tried using a pen to write his name and then she breaks it, god damn, she looked so damn cute
