Ah, Killer Bee. It's funny, because when you first see him, he's the first moor in the show, and he's acting all gangsta and badly rapping and stuff, and you're all, "Oh man, they're being racist!". Then you find out he's just a dweeb, and all the rest of the Lightning folk are just exasperated with him.

I just wish it worked better with Crossover. It's got this quasi-medieval sort of 'chakra-punk' thing going, but the whole Chakra system and Hidden Village thing is so integral and widespread that it just doesn't work well with, well, pretty much any other series. Kudos to the creator for managing to make such a unique world, though.

I don't know what a Crossover is. Naruto and company are basically a bunch of sneaky wizards. Summoning animals and casting fireballs, they just happen to know how to throw knives and punch eachother too. The setting is interesting if you don't think about it too hard. Medical computers, but no personal computers. Wireless radios, but you never see any radioshacks or their equivalent. Or vehicles at all. Are there even horses? Like maybe pulling carts in filler episodes? Or are there horses at all.
Still it's an interesting show and at least Naruto doesn't forget *all* of his tricks, he still uses sage mode sometimes.
Crossover as in fanfictions or other fanworks that take two or more different series and combine them in some way. For example, "Fallout:Equestria" takes My Little Ponies and puts them in a post-apocalyptic wasteland inspired/based on that explored in the Fallout series.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios
Crossovers aren't always fanfic though. There are sometimes official crossovers.

Ahh. I mean it makes sense from the word itself, just hadn't come across it. Maybe a bit too far down the rabbit hole for me But I can now agree that the Naruto setting likely does not multiclass well with others. It's the monk or paladin of the bunch perhaps. Ya know.
currently watching Sword art online, Its pretty good so far, not that much fan service( is why I stoped watching anime for awhile, just too much) and
demon king diayamo, lots of fan service but a funny show.
are you going to keep talking about it, or do something already?
Watch out for the second half of the first season- the bit with the flying. There's a little bit more fanservice in that part (not nearly as much as in a show like, say, Infinite Stratos, though) along with some awkward incest-harem themes (seriously light stuff, though, never followed through on. Not actually sure why they even bothered putting it in, unless it was accidental, like the incest overtones in Ben 10.)

im at that part right now, the incest part is meh because they're cousins and thats a-okay in japan( at least to my understanding) and so far the fan service isnt too overbearing.

My friend really wants me to watch Attack on Titan. I've never been much of an anime fan. The only stuff I really like is by Studio Ghibli. Their stuff beats the crap out of Disney.
I took a look at the plot on Wikipedia, and watched the first episode. At first I liked the idea and plot. But it really disappointed me that the titans were just giant naked humanoids. While the undertone of the story is fairly deep, there wasn't much to grab my interest. Especially stuff like "soldiers" flying around using strings and swords as weapons against 10 meter tall fleshy constructs. Though I suspect that's just the way animes and mangas are going to be. Can anyone explain to me whats so good about this one anime?
I will forever remain humble because I know I could have less.
I will always be grateful because I remember I've had less.

Meh, it's not bad, but it's highly overrated. Has horrible pacing in some places. Still worth a watch IMHO, especially since you're not waiting on new episodes to come out.

The plot seems like its going to be a fairly obvious one. The titans are controlled by the government or royal family. Maybe even by a rival faction. (doubt it). Terror is used to keep the population under control. The intricacy is in the detail, but the overall shape of the story is going to be obvious I think.

Yeah, there's definitely Something deeper going on, but don't expect answers from the anime, because you ain't gonna get em. At least not in this first season.

I haven't read the manga in some time but I still didn't have any answer to any question and I was a fair bit after the end of the anime.

It's got a solid sound track and some nice execution on the action with a few clever twists here and there. That said the pacing is awful in places, the plot holds back on too much, the characters are kind of thin, the tone is a bit uneven, and it can be a bit repetitive. In short it's got some flashes of brilliance but it's over-hyped by a huge margin, I think mostly by folks who mistake lots of gruesome death for maturity.
It's also something of an anime fan's anime. If you're not onboard from the start with flying teenagers using swords to fight big monsters, it probably isn't remotely close to your thing. It's certainly not the kind of thing I'd try to sell on someone who is open minded but not really an anime fan.
Your friend is probably just caught up in sharing something they like, more so than considering if it's a really great suggestion for someone with your tastes.
Bout to start watching Yamada's First Time and Aesthetic of a Rogue Hero, in addition to the various anime I'm watching on CR this season. A number which has been steadily dropping over time... I've just not been able to sustain interest in a lot of these anime.
Cross Ange, Trinity Seven and La Fruit de Grisia are all pretty good. Working: Manga Store Edition (Denkiga) is also pretty funny. Yona of the Dawn is my favorite surprise so far this season, I just wish the pace would move a bit faster.
I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn
Lemme at least leave a good hoof beat they'll remember loud and long

Actually, from what I saw it's the opposite: People who don't watch anime, watched that show (at least in my experience). I have no idea why.
Spoiler:
Granted, a certain character the first time he changed into a certain thing remains one of the coolest things ever. That "bitch slap" that ripped the titan's head off, aaah, now that was a nice touch.
I'm a sucker for anything that reminds me Eva01 going berserk

Thing is, "Anime" isn't really a descriptor of "Shows from Japan" at this point- it's more of a Genre in and of itself, right up there with "Cyberpunk" or "High Fantasy". It's a collection of tropes and plots and characters common across a portion of animated media- Katana-wielding protagonists, scantily clad females, themes of determination conquering all and the value of friendship, and a dichotomy between incredible fast-paced action sequences and very slow, barely animated dialogue.
If you want to see a cartoon that's 'pure' Anime genre, look at something by Trigger- either Kill la Kill or Gurren Lagann.
But a lot of Japanese animation has little hints of Anime in it- Ghost in the Shell is almost pure Cyberpunk and Political thriller, but there's the scantily clad females all over. Naruto is a sort of 'Middle Fantasy', but it has a lot of Power of Friendship and Determination themes in it. Blood+ is a pretty deep Psychological Thriller, but the main character is an attractive girl who fights with a katana. And Sword Art Online explores themes of what it means to be Human and the nature of Reality, but sneaks in some Fanservice here and there, with a main character who, again, primarily uses swords (even though they're straight swords this time).

What you're saying is "Anime" here is just typical Shonen. "Anime" is literally just the Japanese word for animation. Framing "Anime" as something that is distinct from Japanese animation and even a precludes a lot of it is just plain silly. Given your definition things like the Honey & Clover adaptation (great series by the way!), aren't anime.
While they're certainly the most popular and really quite a bit of fun, anime aimed at 14-year old boys is hardly all that's out there.

Did Trinity Seven get any better? It seemed pure harem fan service on a scale worse than Infinite Stratos and I gave it up after the main guys special power was revealed to make everyone around him naked.
