Always english subs. And never dubs. I hate dubs.

"excellent" I can't even watch Cowboy Bebop Dubbed.

Dubs are for the weak.

Also, just watched that last episode of Psycho-pass 2. Really liked it, though I agree, it seemed a little rushed.

I other news.

Nothing, I just don't like dubs, for everything. I watch everything in it's original language. Could you imagine watching Pan's Labyrinth or Das Boot in English? That genuinely upsets me.

English fits the setting of Cowboy Bebop more than Japanese though.

I can't remember a single Japanese character in Cowboy Bebop. A whole bunch of Western characters though.

Pan's Labyrinth and Das Boot are actually set in Spain and Germany respectively, so it makes more "sense" to refuse to watch them in English.

Though, this only explains why your comparison is flawed IMO. To be honest I don't give a gak. I watched Neon Genesis Evangelion's dub (as well as the sub, later), and that's set in Japan. I also consider the English dub of Samurai Champloo superior to the Japanese.

Also, only a fething charlatan would watch something like Space Dandy in Japanese.

So basically Shinichiro Watanabe works are better in English. I guess.

Black Lagoon is properly presented in English. Hellsing Ultimate is an INCREDIBLE dub.

I like the Hellsing Ultimate dub, but the abridged dub is funnier and... I donno...more entertaining.

Japanese subs are for hipster elitists. Plus if you're doing anything while watching, like painting models, how are you supposed to read the subtitles. Though I can think of one or two shows with legitimately terrible dubs...

None so far. It seems to be one of them shill the manga/light novel types.

That said, Yen Press is releasing an English print of the light novel in April, so who knows.

After the dark period of "everything must be dubbed!" of my childhood, I truly hate them. Bonus points for PS2 games. There're some spectacular bad dubs there. Or dialogues for that matter ... ok, bad dialogue in games probably exist since the spectrum era.

Not only that, I LOVE the Japanese language (There's a reason I'm always listening to Touhou arranges). Rurouni Kenshin when it was aired a long time ago, before I even had a computer, was dubbed in Portuguese, and, ok, it was a nice dub, but the ending wasn't dubbed. And me, the little child that I was, heard that magical language for the first time and was amazed. The love stayed true and strong.

In short, feth dubs. Never again will I return to the dark ages that was anime 20 years ago or so.

Well, like I said I gave Amagi Brilliant Park a try and watched the first 2 episodes.

Even though I was expecting it, the "I'm a helicopter!" made me burst out laughing. It's that funny. Hell, the whole show is filled with hilarious stuff, the crazy level is similar to the "Game Creation Club" we had last year.

A tiny pink cat mascot commenting on a bar about his love of T&A. One of the mascots being called "a walking copyrights infrigement" (it's almost equal to the one from Full Metal Panic, but then again, the author is the same). The girl that goes "I'm a helicotper!" is an actual air fairy, so she's officially an air-head...blond too.

Give it a try if you need some silly in your life, I'm so positively impressed so far.

Weirdly enough I actually preferred 4Kids' choice of voices for One Piece and Winx. Granted, the story butchering was terrible, but some of the little things I think they got right- for example, I feel like Sanji sucking on lolipops instead of smoking made a ton of sense- smoking dulls the sense of taste after all and you'd think that a chef obsessive enough about food to fight solely (ha!) with his Feet would pay attention to that. Also, the differences in accents in those ensemble casts both make it easier to differentiate characters and make sense considering the vastly different places they all come from.

So I was sitting around bored and decided to watch an episode maybe two of Parasyte, as I'd heard some good things. Wound up marathoning all the way to episode 11, and only because they didn't have any more. I have to say it's extremely compelling and does a great job of keeping the tension up. I'm a bit worried how it'll hold up outside of binge-watching sessions. It moves along at much faster pace than I usual like and while that's part of what kept me engaged, I'm not sure the relatively thin characters and limited detail will be enough to keep me coming back without the momentum of back-to-back viewings.
