On the above plate, what did you change to get that result!? I didnt see anything on how it was done.

Forgelings? That's even better!

Here's a bit of progress on what is, IMO, one of the best models GW has ever produced. Such a wonderful kit, with lots of scope for conversion, and beautiful details.

I had absolutely no doubt that I needed one, from the moment I saw the first few leaks. It's stil very much a WIP, but I like where it's going. The hand is a mockup, I'm going to build a chainfist, and I'm not sure about the head - maybe I'll build another.

I present to you - my chaos knight:

BTW would you mind sharing your recipe for the silver on your models? What did you do to black rim them also?

Alright, mate, up until now I've been able to tell myself I didn't need a Knight, but seeing your seamless conversion, I may just have to cave in -- it takes all of my willpower to not run to the FLGS and buy one of those bad boys right away - I hope you're proud of yourself for bringing me closer to ruin one step at a time... :(

That said, amazing work!

Why do you do this to me? I am waiting to get my personal ones in to "Barbarian/Goat" up. Looks awesome dude. I just want to look at these up close at some point but that would mean flying over haha.

Anyway keep up the amazing work - it is an inspiration to me and I am sure everyone else. One of these days I just need to do a write up on all of these for BOLS. If you are interested in that shoot me an email.

You are so fast, that kit just came out!! I absolutely love what you've done with it, the head, arrows, and claw / chainsword in particular.

The spikes on top I think can work, but am personally hoping they'll be painted organically, making it look as if they grew out of the carapace.

Fantastic conversion. I love that head. I can see gore/oil drooling from it's mouth as it hangs open hungrily.

How did you find re-posing the legs?

Thanks a lot.

The leg was very easy - the back leg I haven't done anything to - the leg on the droppod base (only temporary, I just found something the right height in the bitz box) was cut at the knee joint and glued in the right position, as was the hip joint. The only other thing I changed about the legs was to turn the feet slightly outward - I think this makes a big difference, the way it is standard seems a little stiff to me.

The arrows were just freehand drawn onto plastic card and cut out - no big secrets there.

The spikes on the carapace will have some sculpting done, to make it look like they've grown/burst through the armour.

Any chance you'll do something with the pilot?

I don't know whether your chaos icon covers the hatch but it might be nice to have something like we see in the FW chaos titans.

Yesss, that Knight looks incredible! The jaw idea is brilliant! Really hope that you slap some paint on that model shortly after you finish the conversions - it deserves to be seen all the way through to completion.

I would love to see it in a scheme completely independent of your Iron Warrior look. Maybe something white and gold, going for the corrupted splendor of a noble warrior turned to the dark side. I think that would really drive home a Freeblade fallen to Chaos, instead of a war machine made expressly for use by Chaos. Plus it's a great excuse to get completely creative and try some new designs out!

Well, I meant some templates that the artistically-challeneged of us could just print out and use. As for the spikes, what are they from? Heck, what're all the pieces you've used so far?

I'm afraid you'll have to draw some yourself - I just freehanded them directly onto the plasticard and cut them out.

The spikes are from the Mutalith, the lower jaw is from the Tyranid Hive Crone and the rest is pretty much just the knight and plasticard.

Anyway, fresh from the Dark Forge - my Maulerfiend, now with paint!

Yes, I know he's missing a right hand weapon, but I haven't come up with something just right yet, and I'm in the painting zone, so to speak, so I make sure I keep up the steam by moving on.

Love the glowing runes, they honestly look like they are lit up from the inside.

What recipe did you use to get that effect? I know it is going to be some simple method i never thought of so i am going to ask.

Thanks - it's very simple:

1) Airbrush small dot of Moot Green
2) Paint rune with Moot Green/White mix
3) Highlight rune with pure white

My Heretek has been busy - a week ago he grabbed some hulking mutants, a bag full of combat drugs and a rather nasty selection of weapons, and went down into his workshop - and last night these jolly fellows came storming out of his laboratory. My spawns:

These sculpts and models looks absolutely fantastic!! Is there anyway to get a nice group shot of the entire soulforge army?

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies.

Wonderous! Beautiful!

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

I'll try to get a pic in the near future, but rest assured I'll do a photosession when the base army of 1650 pts. is painted.
