On Beastmen: Between you and Hargus you have most of it. Perhaps you could include some of the elements below?

Beastmen: Close combat specialists. Higher than average WS and toughness. Excellent Core and Special choices. Magic is centered around the use of buffs and debuffs to increase their combat effectiveness, but is generally ineffective otherwise. No shooting. Really, they don't shoot at all.

In general, thanks for writing this up; I think it's a good idea.

This will probably not be pinned. What would be pinned would
be a post that links to general/newbie articles.

Let's see if I'm using this thread right - I do need help picking an army. I've been considering a lot of things, but I think I'm leaning towards Ogre Kingdoms. My primary opponents will be Dwarves and Warriors of Chaos. Let's say my target is to end up with a 1,500 point army. Aside from the battalion box, what should I consider to put together a well-balanced list?

You should mention other miniature companies or online retailers and not just GW on its own. Or people will be reluctant on spending 100's of dollars for 1000 point army

Try Mantic Games, Waylandgames, Maelstrom Games, etc

I recently got a 2500 point Dwarf army from Mantic for $180 NZD with some extras

Gorgutz Waaagh 2000pts 20-9-9, 1750pts 23-7-13

Dwarfs: 0-1-0

Ogres go with a butcher and a bruiser bsb butcher for sure tho.

I scored 6 bulls and 5 ironguts for about 45 Canadian dollars of eBay (as in all of that for a grand total of 45).
So if you are not super picky about nos or nib then get some used ones.
I plan on converting them anywaysso that actually just saves me time and money.

Gw models are expensive tho but I still find that their characters are pretty nice.

Also avatars of war has awesome heroes I have 1 and am planning on getting another.

Just be careful gw stores don't really want non gw models in their stores just keep that in mind.

Hmm, I thought I'd ask here, as this is semi-related.

How many points does the one side (specifically the High Elves) side of Island of Blood amount to?

Depends if you give your characters expensive stuff and if you give the units in it expensive banners.

Not quite sure but you can make about 1000 points is my guess.

Sorry If this is comment is a bit out of place since you guys are in the process of putting together a WFB starter army topic.

But im really interested in this "Sneaky Deployment Dwarfs", can someone please point me in the right direction for tactics/ strategy
for this type of army?

lol Jubear, LunaHound is starting the new real one. this one is a year old and Squash said he didn't want to be involved in the new one.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/470806.page is the new one that Luna is working on. This necro'd one is nice, but needs updates and possibly more details that Squash isn't willing to do.

Could make a new thread about it. But I'm guessing you're referring to a Anvil + scouts + Miners list?

Something like this would be a sneaky deployment list.

Josef Bugman - 155

Dwarf Lord - 273
Shield, Rune of Brotherhood, Rune of Resistance, Rune of Stone, Rune of Cleaving, Master Rune of Grozril, Rune of Snorri Spangelhelm, Rune of Fire

30 Longbeard Rangers, GW, FC - 485 points
FC, Rune of Battle, Rune of Sanctuary

30 Longbeard Rangers, GW, FC - 470 points
FC, Rune of Battle

24 Miners - 314 points
FC, Steam drill

23 Miners - 303 points
FC, Steam drill

Total: 2000

Nothing on the table in the deployment phase.

Ok... Liking this thread a lot.

Helped me decide pretty quickly on what I want to collect.

WoC.

I'm part of a small group doing a tale of 4 gamers type of thing.
My opponents are collecting Orcs, Ogres and Skaven.

Would WoC be a good army against them?
