Seconds and thirds on being the best event I have attended since last years NOVA. The Open pairings and table arrangements were seemingly error free, like one 10 minute delay or so. Food readily available right by the gaming area. The ability to relax a little on Sunday if so desired, and if you lost some games. The Narrative Event was super cool and Nemesor Zahndrek/Vargard Obyron took home the protaganist prize with a fluffy dual monolith/dual tomb stalker build. I can not say enough about the group of persons that put this event together. The amount of prize support they get from sponsors is tremendous and they pass all that back to the players. Every single person who stayed for the awards ceremony took home some form of prize, every one. I will have more thoughts coming after I recover from lotsa table-top gaming squeezed in between two 11 hour drives. Congrats to all of the top table persons, job well done!

THANKS NOVA STAFF !!!!!!!

Fantastic event, glad to have been a VIP bag owner, and had some great games. Learned that the game is played a little differently when it comes to playing NOVA objective based games, will make a new fluffy list and adjust accordingly for next year.

It was a FANTASTIC show!

I love me a good Kan Kan Dance

I had a great time just wish more people would stay for the awards ceremony and raffle at the end.

The people I met and the staff where all great and I can't wait for next year.

I wish the awards were after the event. I wasn't really doing anything on Sunday and didn't want to hang around for another 5-6 hours(left at 1:30) just to see who won what when I could go home and sit on my comfy couch

PS. Good event. All my opponents were good people

Thanks all for the best NOVA yet, it's the attendees that make it happen as much as the staff and organizers.

With over 600 pairs of feet walking through with weekend badges and day passes, this was also the largest NOVA ever ... and to have gotten to THAT big on the charts of tabletop wargaming events in such a short period of time is really a testament to the hard work of our staff, and the awesome caliber of our attendees.

Thank you, All.

Just a note, many of the local Warmahordes players did not know about the day passes, or only found out about them last minute.

If you are going to offer them next year, if you could make that information available earlier that event will explode, as there's a gigantic player base around here that would love to come out for Saturday/Sunday warmahordes tournies.

The turnout looked really good in the warmahordes room even despite that, though.

This year at least, we required a weekend badge to participate in any tournaments except Infinity (which was only a day long). That's why the day passes were not sufficient / advertised as sufficient for WM/H participation.

That said, I think we had over 50 WM/H registrations, nearly doubling from last year, so it was definitely a success in that sense! Brendon and Nate and the other Gangers who helped them out received a lot of accolades, and Games and Stuff deserves additional praise for really putting the WM/H prize total into the thousands in value.

Ouch on my paint scores......generally score closer to the 75-85% of possible points.

Awesome that I wound up 3rd Competitive and overall for the Invitational and I'm happy with a 4th place finish overall in the Open too

The Paint scores were definitely harsher overall this year, with a couple of outliers that were perhaps scored a little high. We'll be doing a little work on the appearance scoring front for next year, to ensure that we maintain the proper distribution (that DID happen this year), and iron out any lowball or highball outliers.

You performed well, as usual, Brad ... and congratulations to winning Best Sportsmanship.

Hey! 100th place! Boo Yah!!!

This was my first major tourney and I I have to say I'm hooked. I ended Sunday with a 5-3 record.

Thanks for all the fun Mike!

Thanks Mike. That was an awesome surprise. I knew I had a perfect score since all my opponents told me my sportsmanship after the game but I didn't expect to be the guy to pull it down at the end

#149 here. Ended up losing in Round 7 to the bracket winner.

This was also my first major tournament, and I'm definitely hooked. Terrain was amazing, and made it a much different game than most of the casual ones I've played.

Definitely need to work on getting my painting score up...

Hopefully next year a day pass will be usable for the Warmahordes events. Like I said, you'd see an explosion in participation! Which would offset the "lost revenue" from weekend badges (and many folks would get weekend badges, anyway, assuming the day pass was priced appropriately, since many people wanted to come on more than one day).

I agree that Brendon and Nate (et al) did fantastic

Glad you had a good time and did well, Soul of Iron! I bet you rocked the paint score.

Congrats on sportsmanship, Hulk . Did it go to the person with the highest other scores, or was it random between all the perfect sportsmanship scorers?

Highest placement on the competitive track was the tie breakers. And the other two guys with perfect who went higher than me (I think Alex and Nick) both won something else

Don't we all! Seeing everyone's amazing armies makes me realize how lazy I get with painting sometimes and how I could go farther if I sat down and focused on it.

Awesome tournament, best one I've ever been to by a mile. (And first one anywhere near this size).

Q about the painting scores: Are you going to publish a more detailed description of the factors that went into each score. My overall painting score was pretty low, and I think it was at least partially due to not having a display board. But truthfully I am a little disappointed in the score and it would be nice to get more feedback for how to sow up a better score - the painting judges were saying nice things about my army as were lots of passers by!

I am curious what people thought about the 'limits' on the ruleset now that most of us got to play in multiple events with different formats and possibilities for next year? Was there a format which just didn't work at all? Or are some of the limits simply not needed?

What are people thinking about:
*1999+1 vs 2000 (single force org vs double force org)
*Fortifications in general and the limit of them
*Allies
*Forgeworld units/Codexes

There's no way I should have gotten 32nd, but lucking into the 3-1 bracket will do that, lol. Great tournament!

Big fan of the 1999+1 as Dual FOC can be dow right obscene.

Fortifications wise, I was happy with the limitations and how it all worked out.

Congrats to all the winners and to the NOVA crew for running what looked like an awesome event!

Zero Comp is saving it's pennies now to head out and play next year. We just had too many financial obligations again this year to make it unfortunately.

Glad to hear everyone had a good time!

dont allow forgeworld ever. seems like it would pointlessly complicate things by forcing people to be familiar with all of those units as well. Not to mention the broken stuff they release (cough Necron Acanthrites)

I agree FW seems like overkill. Contrary to what many thought, flyers did not overwhelm or dominate so no need for FW in order to balance the game. If anything they might just do the exact opposite.

No telling what double FOC chart would do but I personally do not want to see 6 units of wraiths....ever.

Love allies, it doesn't really break anything too badly and led to some great outside the box thinking and unique builds.

Fortifications were fine and helped trim the effectiveness of flyers. Anything bigger like the fortress would have been impractical, even the ADL was tricky to place in some cases.

I strongly support including 40k-stamped ForgeWorld units. Unlike the double FOC, allowing Forgeworld actually opens up the game to new models and new interesting (but not game-breaking) possibilities.

I'm mildly against the idea of double FOC... it seems like it would only really make much difference IF someone thinks of something broken to do with it.

Allies - loved em. Everyone seems to love them so I doubt any organizers will seriously consider doing without them.

Fortifications were fine, but there needs to be a lot more FAQing about how damage to Bastions actually works. In other words: a Manticore drops 2 missiles on a bastion with a Quad Gun on the top, a unit on the battlements, and a unit inside. What happens? Each of my opponents had their own expectations and I can't really say definitely who was right.

Mike, any chance of getting the full scores for the Narrative? I am just curious about my painting/theme scores. Also as a super minor quibble, my name that will go down in infamy is Bobby Birrer not Robert Birrer. Once again, awesome event!

Flyers didn't dominate? 3 of the 6 games I played had flyers and they were a major factor in my losses.
