Hi, I'm working on some new Highland legs. Let me know what you think of these sculpts and how you like your kilts? Soft pleats? (grey) or Hard pleats? (green).
Thanks, all feedback appreciated. V

They're both really nice looking!
But I'd say the hard pleat wins by a..... pleat!

Both look good to me. In real combat conditions (not that I've ever fought in a kilt), I'm guessing a new kilt would start off well-pressed and hard-pleated, then slowly become rumpled and soft-pleated due to the lack of laundry and ironing facilities?

I've seen some dreadful attempts at painting tartan, and suspect the soft pleats might be slightly more forgiving of painting mistakes.

Really, I think a combination of both would be fine.

Vets have the soft pleats and fresh off the transport newbies get the hard pleats!

I think the soft pleats look better, but they do both look fantastic.

It's an ugly planet. A bug planet.

Hi. I also prefer the soft kilts over the hard ones simply because the soft ones looks more worn. Both are great sculpts.

Echoing what has already been said. Good work on both. I prefer the softer pleats. In any case, more variety in kilts will keep me coming back. Did you ever make a decision on casting one-piece scfi-fi troopers for ease of army building?

Throwing my vote in for soft pleats. Though as has been said, wouldn't say no to either.

^^ Dammit, I guess I'll have to just find something to buy from the shop then. ...Goggles; there can never be enough goggles.

An item that I haven't seen on the site is pouches. Sure there's other kit items like ammo belts, scabbards, holsters and canteens, but there's a lack of bits to fill in the spaces between. Pouches are simple to make, but so's all the other bits of gear, its the time required to make them enmasse tends to be a bore. (I mean outside of the dress uniform kits that is)

There are some that come with the Victoiran torsos: http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/product/3-victorian-torsos

And they fit great with the torsos. But, can you ever really get too many pouches?!
I'm using FW backpacks with my torsos. I'd suggest a backpack of some sort.

=P The last part of my comment mentioned that I'd like to see them as a seperate product, not alongside the torsos.

Heh, I think I'm using about a half dozen company's backpacks on my models. Those along with the respirator air tanks for the same number again too (which reminds me I'm running short). I know a few companies make webbing items, but I appreciate Victoria Miniature's products just for the ease that they slip in with the other lines. I don't use their bits as for the primary elements of a model typically, but they're great for the little accessories that go along with them (and like I mentioned, sculpting details is all well and good, but once you've done that its nice to just pick up a little extra canteen or something to just fill in a few gaps). =)

You must be psychic There is an ammo pouch sprue coming in the next release. Plus new heads, new torsos and new arms.
Here is the latest kilt. The notes about the soft pleats have been taken on board to give it a more worn look. Also added a crossed swords kilt pin. Thanks for all the great feedback.

Any idea when the next release will be hitting your store?
Any clues or hints as to what the new heads/arms/torsos will be?
Really like the new kilts. How many different poses of the new kilts are you planning?

Traditionaly Diggers was slang for the ANZAC soldiers during World War 1. Now it just come to mean any Australian Soldier. The Kiwis may have also adopted the word for their troops as well but im not sure. But yes essentialy, guys with shovels digging trenches.

What do the Diggers consist of Vic? Slouch hats and WW1 uniforms style uniforms? Maybe backpacks with shovels and boadie helmets hanging off. That would be cool.

Aw, man! I'd been holding out waiting for Vic's ANZAC heads and finally broke down on Friday and ordered 50 of MaxMini's from The Warstore. :(

I'll look forward to seeing Vic's arms and torsos to go with them, though.

Don't feel alone, sort of. I finally broke down and bought 24 legs with kilts from vic, and now new ones are around the corner!
Just means I'll have to do 4 vet squads in kilts instead of 2!

Aw, dammit, Vic. You make me a very sad monkey.

I look forward to seeing how well yours can integrate with the ones I already ordered. The arms are fantastic - I've been waiting for arms like that for years.

Any thoughts on doing some special weapon arms? I've been trying to think of how I can make up a bunch of these guys with plasma guns and make it not look completely funky.
