Yeah. This and the broo quite frankly make me not want to buy any more of Vic's minis. Sure, they're great models, but they're premium priced (and in US dollars!) and there's no shortage of things I want to buy out there, so this kind of thing just drops Vic to the bottom of my pile.

More for the rest of us. I'm surprised by your reaction. I'm proud as hell of her. She's truly one of the few companies out there that listen to us and frankly seem to give a damn.

Vic has consistently produced a superior product and listens to her customers. She delivers her product quickly and responds to e-mails.

If money is more important than quality, there are many other model makers out there.

I know my hobby is expensive. I prefer to purchase models that fire my imagination and are fun to paint.

Vic has earned my money in the past and I have money sitting around with 'Arcadian' saved all over it .

I don't get why convention minis have to be exclusive to people present at the convention. Couldn't they be part of the free swag bag for attendees but also available for sale through the convention website to generate funds and interest for all involved?

Some do just that. It would depend on what they intend the miniature to do for them... If they just want a few extra dollars in the till, the certainly website sales are an option. But if the miniature is intended as an incentive to encourage attendance, not so much.

There's also the added hassle of having to pack and ship orders, at a time when they're potentially rather busy organising a convention already...

I have always found Vics miniatures more than fairly priced especially for the quality, versatility and design she produces, on top of this she has always listened to customer feedback and responded to input.

As one of the major independent miniature produces out their she is at the top of my list, you will always have my commitment to your range and money thanks and well done

Also, Victoria isn't producing these, adepticon is. And outcomes few of their models are really limited edition. They are limited inwwhere and wheb you can buy them, but most of them seem available.

Ok, I’ll try and answer this and a few other questions. Sorry Vic for any further thread derailment.

1. We are extremely flexible in the way we work with sculptors and companies. Our goal is not to provide some ultra rare chase item that only a select few will have an opportunity to get.
2. Additionally, I know it seems intuitive that the reason we do these models would be to drive attendance. I am not sure that was really ever the case, but it certainly is not the case today. The AdeptiCon webcart goes live in November, and sells out of our “main” events in 24-48 hours this sort of giveaway item is never announced until months later as they get finalized. Sometimes they never get announced and just show up in the bag. The goal is really simple to provide something to our attendees, who are already coming, that is cool and awesome! If the model or some other swag bag giveaway has the side effect on motivating someone to come to and experience AdeptiCon great.

We can do the above in a number of ways but generally falls into two camps.

1. A company may provide something existing or design something special to give away at AdeptiCon. . In this case the company provides for the design, creation, production and packaging. The company because obviously they are baring all the costs retains complete ownership of the item. This can get pretty expensive, and can be out of reach for many smaller companies.

2. We can straight out commission a piece from a sculptor or company directly. In this case they get compensated for the design and creation of the product. AdeptiCon then handles the production and packaging. We are generally flexible in the marketing in these cases and work that into the arrangements. But in the end AdeptiCon retains the “rights” to what is produced because we principally shoulder the costs to do it.

Now, as to your question sure we certainly could sell the AdeptiCon models year round. But it creates really two issues.

1. When you sell merchandise year round. It creates more book work, and additional paperwork that we like to avoid. AdeptiCon is already a mind numbing amount of those involved, we all have real jobs, families etc..
2. Additionally when you sell or raffle items on the “internet” outside the context and boundaries of the event location. It can create “responsibilities and problems” that we generally like to avoid. Different locations and sometimes countries have different laws and regulations that we then would have to be on top of and in compliance. If you were going to do enough volume it might be worth it. However, more importantly ..
3. We do not want to be in competition with our sponsors and vendors. As such we limit the sale of these items to the show.

Again, I will state that anyone that really wants one of these should with little effort be able to get one. Victoria, those members of dakkadakka that, are attending and AdeptiCon will no doubt work to make that happen.

AdeptiCon Director

Really would like to hear more about a timetable on the squaddies.

Adepticon is what it is. You really don't have to go to get one, just wait a bit and they will more then likly have a few more out there in generals.

Not interested in her, I think she needs more gunsor weapons options, but the style, crispness of the cast, and the lines on that figure really have me stoked for more of her mates.

Probibly going to paint them old school desert, or urban camo. I've got a squad of the old school plastic stormtroopers that would fit in pretty well with them as filler troops.

Some more wonderful work from the talented Jake Schneider. This bike will be produced as a mount for the Vic Minis rough riders later this year. The finished model will come in four parts and also include stowage options. Model going to print soon, all feedback at this stage, very much appreciated. Cheers, Vic.

Are Rough Riders for certain in the upcoming IG Codex?

I know it is probably too early to tell, or know for sure, but I certainly hope they are.

I don't think GW would take out that unit. They haven't had a new model since 2nd edition, but GW's been pretty good at keeping old models supported with rules; it's the new units without models that are the ones at risk!

The Arcadians look excellent, and those bikes look like fun mounts for them.

That squad does look great.

While the bike is neat, I really wish Victoria would sculpt some special weapons arms that could be used for the various regiments in her catalog. Those arms/weapons would be infinitely more useful than bikes, or heavy weapon gun carriages, especially for people making squads with the upcoming 6th edition Guard codex. Every Guard player will need not-meltas, not-plasmas, and not-flamers in their list. Fewer will want heavy weapons and rough riders (unless there are some monumentally better rules for those units in the new codex). It just seems like a missed opportunity for a one stop shopping experience leaving those weapon options off the table.

Yeah, I agree here. I can see myself buying some of her models, but I'd need meltas, plasma, and flamers to really consider it on anything other than a one off or goof.

Thats a pretty good looking squad, I'll take 3 please.

Are there more special weapons options, or shotgun arms?
