Well, it depends on the figure, honestly. A lot of the old metal ones had plenty of undercuts, so they had to use a different, more flexible PVC, which causes the bendy-ness. For something without much in the way of undercuts, a harder formulation can be used, which makes it less bendy and less prone to losing detail.

That said, I had my reservations too at the start of the project, but I'm willing to trust Victoria til proven otherwise.

Besides, on my end of the project, there's a few things we've held back to do in resin exactly for that reason.

I'll try being nicer if you'll try being smarter.

Just a little bit more than eight hours from now, easy-peasy.

Snip.....

Personally if vic's stuff was available both in bones and resin I would be ecstatic. I think everything but the heads would make the jump to bones prety well.

A hybrid kit might be good resin heads and weapons but bones for the rest to reduce cost. I might go for this to be honest for my rank and file IG but I have no experience with he bones material so this could be a mistake on my part.

Or will we see bones used to get the Matilda in production? (Given its cheaper)

Bones can do guns just fine.

http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Bones%20gun/sku-down/80017

Like I said, it's just the human faces can be so hit and miss with bones stuff. Like in that example, the face looks fine. but looking threw the gallery you can find plenty of mini's suffering from a lack of nose when they make the jump.

generally heads sculpted with bones in mind work alot better.

But also since vic's heads are seperate, that might also help with the quality of the casting. It's hard to say. I only have a laymen's understanding of how casting PVC works.

Generally I'm quite happy to hear vic will be involved with the bones 3 kickstarter.

I just hope it isn't going to be a Reaper exclusive if it is Galaxy's Finest related.

Personally I think it's that tank they were working on is the likely suspect.

Well I am sorry guys but seeing what I have around the net there is a loss of detail and a softness to it and I won't touch it with a barge pole, it might be ok for gamers who want to field a large army for basic gaming purpose but I want models to collect and enjoy for there detail.

I will be honest if this is the route of future releases I will not be a returning customer, sorry and maybe harsh but that looks to be a inferior material for a quality miniature.

I can't imagine Vic will move to a Bones only position for future stuff so I wouldn't worry I'm sure there will still be more detailed versions of her stuff available in resin (or metal)

(unless her lines in resin/metal were no longer paying the bills?)

Well, Bones is live and nothing Lamb or Wolf related yet. But the KS is young yet.

Though they are getting ROFLSTOMPED by the early pledges, even the KS site isn't able to handle it! After an hour I'm still waiting for them to verify my pledge!

I am entitled to spend my money how and where I want also I have seen nothing of the bones range quality inspiring, if you read what I wrote you would understand I was voicing an opinion on the material used and if it was to change solely to that I would no longer wish to invest.

I really don't see how waiting has anything to do with it the evidence is out there to be seen, I prefer resin and metal miniatures that is my preference.

You might like the idea of a cheaper range and good for you, but I have a right as a long time customer to raise my concern as I am sure I am not the only one with this view and highlight the possible risk of loosing customers to quality issues.

So thanks for your opinion on mine but I have no interest in it thanks.

The point was that the line will more than likely continued to be produced in resin. The Bones will be a supplemental material available as well as the higher detailed versions.
Are you going to stop buying because they have the same models available in a different material?

Well you obviously did not read what I wrote either as I said if it was "solely" the material used, if they produce the range in resin as well as bone then there would be no issue but if they chose to produce new items or the complete range in this material I would not invest in them.

Why is it that I voice a concern that people have a need to jump on it ?

What the hell guys? Why are people getting pounced on in this thread for saying they aren't fans of the Bones plastic?

Sinful, lone dirty dog clearly stated that if Bones plastic is the medium used for future releases he was not going to buy any more of Vic's minis. That is a reasonable statement, isn't it (I placed it in red above)? The material used to cast our toys is important to many of us, and Bones plastic is on the lower end of the materials spectrum for miniatures.

Obviously (most) everyone will wait and see what is in store and decide for themselves whether or not this new venture is something they want to support. In the meanwhile, could the discussions here be fully read before impassioned responses are posted? There are now two instances in as many pages of people attributing motivations to posts that aren't there. Perhaps we can relax and ease up on one another a bit?

Look I don't want this to kick off it was a personal view and concern that's all , if your happy with the material then great and I am sure there are many who will be however I am not one of those sorry if it offends anyone.

Now let's just leave this be and see what the next update is.

Something to keep in mind, however, is that (to the best of my knowledge) the Star Wars Imperial Assault minis are made out of the same stuff, and all I've ever heard from people is how pretty they are. Dunno if that's true, I'm not a big enough Star Wars fan to get into it (I only play X Wing and Armada because of the rules).

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I dunno about Vic (actually, I do, I just won't speak for her), but I do value the opinions of most of you on this thread.

I think Brook was just counselling a cautious wait-and-see approach, since everything comes out differently.

LDD, I'm certainly not offended that you aren't thrilled with what's been done in the past. I'll just wait to see how it comes out before I rush to judgement. Like I said further up, I share some concerns as well, but, meh, no reason to stress til we know what's what, right?

I'll try being nicer if you'll try being smarter.

Hi Folks,
Just thought I should jump in here and clarify some speculation, Its very nice to see all this interest in Vic Minis

Jake and I have been invited to create a special project which will be a part of the current Reaper Bones III Kickstarter. This will be a special 'guest spot' for a Victoria Miniatures piece, and will appear approximately half way through the campaign.

I understand Bones is not everyone's cup of tea, especially some of the early pieces were not impressive. However they have gotten better with experience, and this piece is being specifically designed with Bones in mind, it will be cast in grey PVC, not the usual Bones white, and will be a big chunk of plastic specifically intended for this medium.

I assure you I have no intention (or the cash) at this point, to retool the entire range in PVC. This project is currently a one off, that will give me the experience of working on project for metal tooling, and will expose Vic Minis to a whole new audience. It will be a good learning exercise, and I look forward to hearing customer feedback. It gives Jake and I the chance to make a big plastic kit without the usual risk and expense and will enable us to offer if for an insanely cheap price if purchased as part of the KS. It will also be available after the KS from Vic MInis, and we have lots of resin add ons already in the works.

Its still a work in progress so I'll be posting some pics in the few days.
Cheers, V

PS: its not the Tank

I hope your relationship with reaper continues to grow after the project. =)

To me it's the idea that maby being able to get some of your mini's threw reaper's US distribution that would make me most excited lol.

I'm also not personally worried about the quality. Stuff make with bones in mind uselessly looks great to me, and like i mentioned earlier it's super nice to work with if you like to do conversions.

I rather buy direct than through Reaper or other companies for that matter, for starters Vic offers superior shipping options that don't feel like you're being ripped off and secondly, more money goes to the creators.

yah, but being able to buy threw a FLGS is also pretty awesome....

XP

Or even as a FLGS being able to more easily order mini's to stock in your store.

Does this mean it will still be connected to your current range of miniatures or a separate piece independent from the range ?

I know you can't tell us what it is but I was just wondering if it still fits into this universe ?

Glad to hear the resin is staying
