This is totally awesome!
I've been thinking that at some point I would like to start a guard army but wasn't happy
with the way they typically looked. ...until I found these! This is what I'm looking for! Now
just need to get the money,,
So to sum up.
I love it!

Great job on the weathering!

Confirmation of why no-one should listen to Kanluwen when it comes to the IG - he doesn't want the IG, he want's Kan's New Model Army...

Thanks! Yeah the FW Hellhounds were literally 10% cheaper than the GW ones so I got one of each
MrMerlin wrote:Man, your weathering rocks! How'd you do it? I assume you used washes and sponge weathering?
It looks awesome!
Didn't use any washes on the tanks but yeah I sponged the edges to get the paint chipping
Hangfire wrote:Great work Astelan, did you apply 2 washes to the tanks after the basecoat?
As above no washes, the quick summary is:
Drybrush light grey before weathering
Sponge yellow areas down to grey paint
Sponge grey areas down to black paint
Burnt Umber oil paint on all the rivets
Flick a mix of Burnt Umber and rust colored weathering powder all over for rust
Flick/Stipple mud weathering powder over lower area/tracks
All over or do you purposefully try to hit edges and raised areas?
The jump between "Here's my basecoated tank" to "Here's my completely painted tank" is massive and my tiny brain hurts when trying to compute the steps in between.
That said, I bet you'd make an awesome tutorial.
Thanks for the reply, I'll be watching with interest.

Okay I'm posted this 4 hours before I'm due to drive off to my first ever tournament.
Went mental trying to paint everything in time but fell short with the vehicles.
I need to sleep and my camera battery has died so I can't take pics of all the infrantry/progress but I did take a few quick ones!
Can you get some more pics of the LC apoticary? Specifically the power fist turned lc? I am kind of put off by conversion, and would like to see how you did it (I have the model you used as base).

I just shaved off the claws from a LC then glued it to the back of the fist

Well it's been a while, and sorry in advance for the crappy lighting/setup but I took some WIP shots as I went for my Leman Russ.
Still unfinished, got rust, mud, details and tracks to go!
