Origins Founding: 21st "Cursed Founding"
Reason for the Chapter's Creation: Their creation served a double purpose. The known reason was to help in the defense of Segmentum Tempestus from the Orks. The second reason was like their brother chapter, the Lamenters, to cure the Red Thirst of their primogenitors.
Colours Marine-Brother Dark Blue with Light Grey Trim and Aquila
Zephyrus Squad Bone White with Red Trim and Black Decorations and Helmet
Homeworld Located deep into the Segmentum Tempestus, in a System called Ventus. The Tempests call planet Auster their home. Auster is a feudal world that it is ravaged by high velocity winds. Its technology level is a little less advanced than blackpowder. There are several different warring factions in this world all striving for a better place for them to live and prosper. Twice a year in celebration of the God-Emperor lies a ceasefire and a grand tournament is called among all warring fanctions. During that Great Tournament, The Tempests have their most important selection process. As it is only natural the people of this world have also affected the Chapter to a great degree. The Chapter itself always had a violent and unpredictable temper, rumours say that this is not only due to the Homeworld but also a result of their Parent Chapter. Their love for flying and high speeds has made them excellent Assault troops and pilots. Therefore the Assault Squads, the biker units and the low orbit ships are never underhanded due to the lightning reflexes, combined with the accelaration and speed thrill, that are required to drive such machines. Finally, due to the continuous infighting of their world and due to the technology level, they prefer hand to hand combat than anything else.
Geneseed The Geneseed comes from Sanguinius.
Their parent Chapter are the Flesh Tearers.
The geneseed was selected by Adeptus Mechanicus in oredr to try to find a cure for the existing mutations. This was a failure by some since it did not eliminate the mutations at all; indeed the first mutations appeared almost immediately. But they do not appear as often as they do on the Flesh Tearers.
Organisation The Tempests are a Codex adhering Chapter but with some deviations. Due to their nature, the Assault Squads are always brimming with marines as do the Bike Units, the Landspeeders and the Stormravens. Unlike other Chapters they have not recieved mechanical re-enforcements for several centuries, due to an unfortunate event. As such any suits of Tactical Dreadnaught Armor, Dreadnaught Armor, or Heavy Support tanks (such as Predators or Landraiders or even Whirlwinds) are rarely fielded on the battlefield and when they do they are protected with zealous by the marine-brothers and if, God-Emperor forbids, any are damaged/destroyed/killed they are to be rescued even if that costs the majority of the force. The vehicles that do exist are mainted in top condition at all times by the few Techmarines that remain.
Chapter Master The position of Chapter Master is elected by a counsil. The counsil comprises by the Chaplaincy, The Serpentio Priests, The Librarium and the 10 Companies (by their respecting highest ranking officers). In the event of a Chapter Masters abrupt death the position is jointly heald by the Chaplaincy andThe Serpention Priests until a suitable Chapter Master has been nominated for the position. Finally anybody with a rank of Sergeant and above (including all Veteran Marines) but, excluding Astartes of the Chaplaincy, Serpentio Priests and Librarians, can be nominated for the position.
The Zephyrus Company (counts as Death Company) Like their Primogenitors all the brothers that have succumbed into The Black Rage are placed in a special company, named, The Zephyrus Company. They are given special suits of armor painted, in bone-white with red trim and are prepared for the comming battle by the Chaplaincy. Unlike the Flesh Tearers though the battle-brothers of The Tempests do not succumb to The Black Rage that often.
Battle-Cry Before combat the highest ranking Chaplain or officer of the Serpentio Squad or if both are missing the highest ranking officer, chants the Citius,Atius,Fortius ode. During battles the most common battle-cry are:
