Still waiting for gaking Royal Mail to deliver it. I'm sure you'll like it, it's a book with all the Space Marine art you could shake a pulsing boarding torpedo at.

I gather there's some new/unseen art in there .... towards the back ?..... which is supposed to be eyebrow raising or should be of note....

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

The Emperor's Will also had a few John Blanche art pieces that I haven't seen before elsewhere, so chances are this might be more Blanche art, a big loss for his many, many haters out there.

I don't think I've actually seen a semi recent John Blanche space marine?

He usually goes for mechanicus or assorted inquistor-ey types, doesn't he?

He's also done High Lord art, Imperial citizens and stuff in between.

Could it have the long-rumored artwork depicting how Chaplain Cassius initiates the scouts with his mighty rod?

We can only hope that it is indeed so, I'd love to see them loudly ejaculate their oaths, lovingly rendered by Blanche.

I myself was very disappointed since it became an all Space Marine book. Even the GW site still has the old dscription of the book.

Only the Black LIbrary site has the newest description. Thats very upsetting to me since the whole reason I ordered it was for the non space marine and never seen before art. It is a nice shiny compilation of space marines true, and it probbaly has more than a few pieces of art for an upcoming Dark Angels codex, but all in all for me it was a let down.

I mailed BL about it, but they haven't gotten back to me yet, somehow I doubt they will. Guess I'll just have to write a disappointing review on their site instead, though chances are it will be pulled before it can go live.

Oh yeah, it was in WD #95 or so.

The only issue ever banned in Ireland.

Ah... here's that new description.

About the book
Forged by forgotten science and driven by their eternal duty, the superhuman Space Marines are mankind’s foremost defence against a dark and brooding universe. Honed by years of the most rigorous training and equipped with the finest weapons and armour, the Adeptus Astartes hold back the darkness, protecting the Imperium from the alien, the witch and the traitor. Packed with previously unseen illustrations as well as a host of classic images chosen by Games Workshop’s Art Director John Blanche, this full-colour artbook provides an unrivalled look at the fighting forces of the Imperium.

It was always an all Space Marine book. JB himself said so right when The Emperors Will came out. BL may have accidentally marketed it as something else for a while, but it was always planned as SM-only.

Some nice stuff in the book as well.

The book will also contain the art done for the Deathwatch RPG done by FFG, that art is really good.

Yes there is some nice stuff, but how we're people supposed to know it was Space Marine only when even Black Library advertised it differently? It's rather annoying.

Nothing wrong with some more homosexuality in the 40k universe!

I've always find it so odd that any hints of sexuality are such a big taboo in these sorts of settings, apparently because it's targeted at children. But the whole topic of genocide, torture and all sorts of very nasty violence are perfectly fine.

The old novels had glimpses of this, I think the Jaq Draco novels even took it a bit too far by having an Imperial governor having little boys around his court, though I could be misremembering that one.

I do remember that Beasts in Velvet featured these themes heavily, or did they?

Hmm, maybe that's why Jaq Draco has been hidden in some sort of deep vault!

I just started reading Angel Exterminatus and there's a scene in which Fulgrim kinda friendly pads/slaps Perturabo in the same, but for some reason I wondered how twisted it would have been if he went fully snog mode. Freaking out Perturabo and force a vast amount of readers to confront their own (potential) insecurities about their sexualities.

Or would that be a bit overkill?

..so.. anyone with the new artbook care to perhaps share the quite interesting Dark Angely type pictures at the back ?

Some of those look pretty cool/interesting eh ?

I'd say we need more of it (Same gender stuff that is, none of the NAMBLA stuff please), but then again, as Dutch we've already been exposed to this sort of thing to quite some extent through the media and no longer look up from it eh?

Also, got this mail from BL just now, which makes me sad:

Hi BrookM,

We just wanted to let you know that your order has now been despatched from Black Library.

Order Number: 000000

Product Code: 60040181035
Description: Brotherhood of the Storm
Quantity: 1

Quite contradiction with what they sent me last week really, telling me that it was already under way.

Brook, to be fair, I just got my "we are shipping" email today as well.

But the book arrived four days ago. So the system may not be airtight.

New Flesh Tearer SMB book trailer.

"Mere centuries after the end of the Horus Heresy, the newly-founded Flesh Tearers Chapter continues its bloody crusade against the xenos races that threaten Segmentum Pacificus. Chapter Master Amit leads his warriors to a feral world in pursuit of orks, but discovers something far more ancient and deadly in the depths of the jungle. Already battle-weary, the Flesh Tearers must master the dark legacy of their primarch Sanguinius if they are to prevail... and perhaps find a world worthy of being called their home.

Flesh of Cretacia is presented in a premium hardback format and includes full-colour internal map sections.2

.. hardback is the new resin then ...? ... Like the idea/outline of the story and the chapter involved. Read a little of the authors stuff so far and it was... alright. Kind of damning him with faint praise there perhaps.

Is a cool idea/plot for a story though, I am pleased to see BL letting their authors write about/in different eras of the setting.

This weekend sees the first BL weekender, if people attend please do let us know what you see, find. do etc etc.

Agreed on both the hardback comment and the different eras thing. You've got ten millennia to fill, it's about time they got started on that!

Well, this is a growing trend. The Games Day anthology also had that story about Abaddon in it, and ADB will be writing a Abaddon trilogy so I guess we'll be seeing more is this early post heresy stuff!
