‎"Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Blade of Giest

2hs with plus 2 to str, and strikes at Int order.

as well

You can split the sword into two 1hs weapon of which

Blade of Giest's streght plus one to str
Blade of Giest's speed, ASF
Paired weapon, parry attacks as well...

Now the next question is there are so many games out there that already have weapons to be used.

Bret

Holy blade, 2hs, plus 2 to str, flaming, reroll wards

Empire

Bards blade of songs
Pick your song for battle, but it must be picked at the start of your turn as long as your not in combat. Kinda hard to change the tune of those around you in combat

Plus one to Int
Plus one to Str
Plus six plus ward
Plus one to WS
Plus one to MV-only granted a one to marck, or should it stack to movement giving said unit the ability to dbl the total?
Plus one to LD

These six will do, as you dont want to over load with str bonue, toughness bonus etc...

Wood Elves

Light of (something) off that movie,, ya,, with the gaint spider in it???

Use one per game, -1 to WS, -1 STR, -1 Int, -1 MV -1 LD

Reasoning,, ws because its harder to hit what you can not see, str because your not going to be able to bring your full force on what you can really make out, Int because your worried you might hit one of your own, mv because your off balance, ld because your unable to find out which way is the direction you should be going.??

High elves need some kind of anti blade,, anti daemon, anti undead, anti anti. After looking threw the dex it seems that the high elves have each section covered but weapon. I would say something in arcane and or some in the weapon department. Maybe have the option of adding in a blessing,,

Sword of might,, plus one to str for 15 points in the high elf dex.

Add in Daemon blessing, plus one to str and attack for a total of

Plus two to daemon and a plus one to attack

Random thoughts...

@Mattlov: Agreed. Spears are not-quite worth it as they stand, and that's if the upgrade is free. I'd also consider +1S in a round you'r charged; it's a more common rule, it's simpler, and I think it would make more of a difference anyway.

@Tarval: why would you pick +1Init. with the Blade of Songs when you could pick +1S or Ld etc.?
Also, for Wood Elves...are you talking about the Phial of Galadriel, from The Lord of the Rings? 'Cause she's a High Elf. Also, not like the Elves of Warhammer at all anyway. And it's not really much of a war-time device. And it would cost something like 110pts, because it would be AWESOME, since it's starlight in a jar.
Also, High Elves don't need any more magic items. They've got more than anyone else, and better.

@Tarval Holy Avenger maybe? or Carsomyr are the proper names for the 2 handed "holy" Paladin weapon. But due to D&D type rules and how amazing it is, in WH it would have to be 100 points and give killing blow or something as well. It wouldnt just be a 2handed flaming sword.

.... *Sigh* I'm such a nerd

The Poisonblade

This sword was wielded by it's namesake, Urian Poisonblade, Champion of Malekith. Following his defeat by Tyrion, the weapon was captured by the High Elves. Ironically, the blade itself is not poisoned, but rather simply a perfectly balanced long sword whose razor sharp edge was only ever defeated by the Armor of Aenarion.

Grimnir's Axe: Can only be equipped onto a Daemon Slayer or a Dragon Slayer
The axe of Grimnir was found at the turn of the Age of Sigmar, when a Throng of 1000 Slayers lead by King Hake Godssmasher went into the Chaos Wastes for nine hundred days and nights to reach the lost hold of Karag Dum. But after a Warp storm they lost their way to the mountain hold and reached the edge of Chaos itself. By that time, they numbered barely 200 souls. They charged an army of Khorne that outnumbered them 3000 to one, and yet they plowed ever onwards until five Slayers stood, protecting their Fallen King. Godssmashers Grandson, Heros, challenged the Herald of Khorne, Albion Talon. They engaged in battle in the Temple of Timeless War, under the eyes of Khorne himself. Heros Godssmasher lived up to his name, hitting the statue, smashing it apart. He was losing the fight, and his defiling of the Temple had enraged the Priest of Bloodshed. But when things were at their worst, when Heros's hammer had been taken by the Champion of Khorne, he saw it.
A solid Gold Axe on the foot of what once was the Chaos God of Blood.
He grabbed the axe and like a fire, he shrugged off his life threatening wounds and roared, before de-capitating the Champion of Khorne and throwing it into the Maurauder hoard. The champion of Khorne gone, the Maurauders turned against each other and killed each other, the Chosen of Khorne dying alongside with them. The Slayers slowly ventured out of Chaos Wastes, now only Heros and his mighty Axe and hammer, so the Legend says...

Troll Armour: Can be equipped on all Orcs and Goblins Lords and Heroes
Used during WAAAAGH! Thrash Trollskin, Troll Armour was found when Thrash's Trolls went wild and he killed all 23 of them, and wore their skins as coats, as did all of his Orcs. When they reached the Tavern of Coachman and Demon, an outlying small settlement to the South of the Empire. The Empire Garrisoned there put hails of arrows and bolts into the Greenskinned hoard, but not one Greenskin fell to the arrows and they quickly butchered the town, and so Thrash quickly lead his WAAAGH! into the Swamp of Trolls, where he slaughtered dozens of Trolls and made his greenskins wear their armour. But when siege came to Blightdorf, they quickly found out their blunder when they faced a Bright Mage by the name of Sheol Magicbattler, who then proceeded to, atop a battlement, rain down fire onto the Orcs, whose Troll armour only caught alight.

Jerek's Door

Preceptor Jerek was leading a small group of Knights of the White Wolf from Kislev back to Middenhelm when he was ambushed by a wandering warband of Norsemen. With most of his men slain, and his horse killed, Jerek wrenched the Oak door from the smouldering frame of a cottage. With the door in one hand and his hammer in the other, he stood his ground and repelled over a dozen charges by the Norsemen, wedging himself in a copse of trees to protect his back. That day the snows ran red as he slew, until the Norsemen, though outnumbering him by over 50 to 1, dared not come before him. Seizing his chance, he unhorsed the enemy leader and rode back to Middenhelm, still carrying the battered door. It has since been bound by iron and embossed with Wolf head emblems, and is a treasured artefact of the Order.

So...Magic Resistance becomes Everything Resistance?

I'd write it like this:

"Talisman. The bearer gains a Ward save equal to her Magic Resistance +1".

Also, 100pts for at most a 3+ Ward? I'd say 55pts. You still need the Magic Resistance. And since this takes up an item slot, the only guys who can benefit are Glamourweave and ones with Talismanic Tattoos.

This was supposed to affect whole unit that the bearer joins like the magic resistance does. So If you have mage on a unicorn you can give it the item and whole unit that mage will join will get 2+ ward. Perhaps this is to good. So the bearer should not count his magic resistance one point higher anymore. In a new version a unit can have 3+ wardsave.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
What do you think about it. Maybe 2+ward is't op since you need to get a freeking unicorn. The mage can anyway be slain in combat and will be an easy target.

The highest magic resistance is 3, for a 4+ save. Improving it by 1 would give you a 3+.
Or are you including the Forest Spirit Ward as well? Then you go from a 5+ to a 2+ straight-away, so there's no need to improve it by 1 anyway.

An item that can grant a Ward save of 4+ or better to an entire unit should (1) probably just not exist and (2) should have a name that describes it as The Best Thing In The Book.
With this item, I'd get minimum core (probably Glade Riders), a lvl4 Glamourweave on a unicorn, some Branchwraiths, and around 18 Treekin. Assuming 2200pts.
Whether it's a 2+ or a 3+ Ward doesn't really matter much when you're staring down over a dozen S/T6 Treekin and three S7/A6 Dryad characters.

It's too much, but more over, it's just too wonky. Still trying to get my head around it.

I included the forest spirits save. The highest magic resistance in the current wood elf codex is provided by unicorn, it is
level 2.

What if the item would work only for d3 or d2 turns?Would it be possible to introduce it then? Since it is not easy to get a unicorn anyway.

Adding clause upon clause isn't the way to go about this sort of thing. If a magic item can't be summarized in two, maybe three (short) sentences, it's too complicated.

What you seem to want is a Bigger Harp. So just make that. Or use the Harp.

An unholy fusion of warpstone and gromril, it is utterly impenetrable to mundane weapons and augments the failing skeleton of the Undying King. Make that One Use Only, and it costs 25pts. There should never be a way to side-step the risks of magic entirely.
Just imagine a Slann with one of these. And by that, I mean every Slann ever would have one.

Dancing Scimitar (40pt Magic Weapon)- these glittering, curved blades are forged and enchanted in distant Araby. When the command words are spoken, the sword comes to life, floating into the air, as if wielded by unseen hands.

The wielder gains +3 Attacks. These attacks strike at WS5, S4, and I5. Additionally the wielder may use a special close combat weapon, such as a hand weapon and shield or a great weapon, while using a Dancing Scimitar (the attacks granted by the Dancing Scimitar cannot be modified by any other weapon).

This is not side steping the risk of magic. 2-4 effect in a miscast table is a big blast template over wizards head and S10 hit for every model covered by it. Furthermore then d6 is rolled for a wizzard, on 3 or less he get's removed. This item will only be balanced if it is not one use. You can use wizzard as Kamikaze and remove a huge chunk of enemy army. However this will most likely not work or be not cost effective. For a wizzard might get a miscast while in proximity of friendly units or might not get it when close to enemy units. Additionaly every miscast is 50% chance that wizzard will be slain without any type saves allowed.
The item can be game changing. Perfect for a very desperate player.

Oh! Man, I don't know what I was reading. Yeah, that's a cool item.
I think it might even need a bit of a boost. Maybe "One Use Only. Before casting a spell, the bearer may choose to use this item. The next spell the wizard casts is with Irresistible Force, as long as the total is at least equal to the casting value of the spell.
The bearer is treated as having rolled a 2-4 on the Miscast Table".

Far too much for a weapon unless it's in storm of magic only. Wha you seem to have done is pick most of the best rules you could find for cc weapons and then put them all on one axe. Chose 1-2 options not auto hits, ignores armour, D6 wounds and reroll ward saves that just seems a bit OTT.

Avanuir

Avanuir is the legendary sword of Malekith. Lost during his defeat at Maledor during the Civil War, it has finally been recovered by the High Elves. Though a priceless weapon, forged by the Dragontamer himself and one of the last of its kind, no High Elf dares use it for fear of the memories of the atrocities committed by its previous wielder. Wielding it, Malekith the Great conquered Greenskins throughout the new world, establishing most of the Elven colonies. Similarly, Malekith as Witch King slew countless elves with it, notably the Princes Haradrin of Eataine, Carvalon of Yvresse, and very nearly Caledor himself. It currently resides in a vault in Tor Caled, claimed as a spoil of war by Caledor the First's descendants.

I would say the weapon is under priced. You need to be carefull when giving a point cost to a weapon and rather keep it high then low. This is what gw does. In brb there is a weapon that ignores armour saved which costs 50 points. One with 2+ S costs 40 points, while one with flamming attacks 5 points. Ring of ruin with fire ball spell costs 25 points. Therefore Avanuir 100 points would be fair.
