How do you figure Dom is Emo and based off of Kratos?

Kratos: "My wife has died! let's feth all the goddesses! YOU KILLED MY WIFE, ZUES! I PROMISED TO KEEP PANDORA SAFE, BUT YOU CALLED ME A BAD NAME, SO I SHALL SLAY YOU AND LET HER DIE!"

Dom: "My wife might have died, but she still could possibly be out there, I have to find her!"


Hell, Crom from Bloodforge is mostly like Kratos, but Crom is also a hell of a lot better done (He only wants to kill the God responsible, asking all other gods [save one] to get out of his way, then killing them in self defense as they refuse. Also to the fact that when Crom finally meets the God and kicks his ass, he allows him to live because Crom is smart enough to figure out there is more going on here than meets the eye....)

I'd like to see something with all the big names from everywhere, but the odds of that happening in a good way are beyond slim.

Yeah, I don't really understand the character choices. Why is Heihachi there? Sure, he's iconic with respect to Tekken, but the major draw of games like Smash Brothers is that the characters aren't from fighting games. Fat Princess, Toro, and Radec are just obscure (though, admittedly, so are a lot of the toons in Smash Brother). Big Daddy just seems odd given that he isn't a character from even a temporary PS3 exclusive.

If I were coming up with this roster, it reads as follows:

Nathan Drake
Kratos
Sly Cooper
Dante (assuming Capcom would allow it)
Sweet Tooth
Ratchet and Clank
Jak and Daxter
Pararappa
Sackboy
Cole McGrath
Crash
Spyro
Clouid (assume Squenix would allow it)

To be honest, this may be a knock-off of Super Smash Bros, but SSB is somewhat in its own genre at this point. It's a floaty melee-platformer that almost operates as a fighting game.

All the DotA clones were heralded as knockoffs until people realized it was pretty much a new genre of game. This is similar.

If Sony can recruit third-party iconic characters from all over gaming, this game could really become something awesome. With a rumored 20+ characters that are not necessarily restricted to Sony alone, it'd be great to have no Link, Toon Link, Adult Link, etc clone madness.

Plus, the PS3 is so much more update and internet-friendly than the Wii to the point that post-release support for this game may actually exist.

I'm skeptical but somewhat interested.

I guess thats the thing though about Smash Bros, how many iconic fighting games are on nintendo systems anyways that arent from companies like Capcom?

One well known fighting game enthusiast on youtube was asked how he thought of the current game (he played the demo at evo i think?)

He says it looks like SSB, but he flat out states it plays nothing like SSB. Interesting


Also a supposed "leak" of additional characters is out. Could easily be a photoshop though. I mean come on, MediEvil! Who played that game!

I'm not sure, but I think that has to be one of the most annoying leak "watermarks" I've ever seen. Would be kind of cool if the little blobs guys from Loco Roco were playable.

The second and third Jak games were some of my favorite PS2 titles, glad to see them included.

I thought these sort of games were about the Iconic Characters. How is a Reboot that isn't even out yet anywhere close to Iconic?

Still he pretty much plays exactly like normal Dante anyways. And if the other rumors are true then we're getting super cyber ninja Raiden from the upcoming Metal Gear game. You know the guy who is overshadowed by Snake

If he has a level from his new game, with a song from the game (and hopefully one written by Combichrist who is composing part of the soundtrack) I won't really mind.

Why wouldn't you model you characters after their most recent iterations? Smash Brothers did exactly that.

Anyone else eagerly anticipating Narikos trailer? :3 or is that just me.

One thing I do hope it has is finishing moves, like Mortal Kombat's fatalities.

For example, Sackboy could get out his popit cursor, make a huge cardboard fist and squash his opponent beneath it.

Spyro and Crash are too...... oldschool, I think. Sure, they both have games still coming out, but if they were actually doing this for star power/nostalgia appeal, they would have announced them before Kratos/Helghast....

But there is truth, even taking into account if this commercial was a "teaser" for the game, several characters arent even exclusives like Snake and Enzio

Wait the ps3 has no good games? what about infamous, uncharted, flower, journey? Those are all great games only found on the ps3, and while not all of them would make good fighting game charecters, at least the ps3 has games unlike what you said.
