Just thought I'd share, we painted up my friend's PHR in a weekend

Now if my Scourge could only sell for enough to cover the cost of the Shaltari mega I ordered to replace them, I'd be really happy

Lots of folks still very interested in this game, I can't wait until they've got their stock problems fixed and it's more readily available!

Got my first game last night - finally!

Opponent just had a scourge starter box, so i grabbed the equivalent of a PHR starter box from my collection, and then we played the Recon mission.

Don't have a full batrep for you, but overall... awesome. Simply awesome.

Ended up being a Scourge victory, 7pts to 6pts.
PHR dominated the board, wiping out his tank and AA squads with superior firepower (and good command cards), although he did get a good Reactor Overload hit on my Ares squad and take them both out.

In the end, all he had was his dropships and his infantry, and he weathered a storm of last-turn firepower while hunkered down in a building carrying TWO objectives. I got the building down to 2 dp, but couldn't destroy it, and he won the game.

So many games, so little time.

So many models, even less time.

Screw it, Netflix and chill.

Sounds like a blast, Micky! I need to remember to shoot buildings more often... seems to be a pretty key strategy.

It is for PHR, for sure.

Problem I had was a lack of Demolisher weapons.... No Enyo, no Taranis, no Athena. Mostly it was my Neptune missiles and Juno cannons doing the damage.

So many games, so little time.

I was at the Legion 2012 wargames show in Sandwich today and Dave, Bex and Simon from Hawk were in attendance. I was under strict orders from my wife not to spend money but had a nice chat with Dave and got a first hand look at a few of the resin building pieces. These were really nice and fitted in nicely with the card buildings I had brought along - you really could do a card building with added resin lobby parts or aircon pieces. Dave is hoping to have these available by Christmas but production is being fitted in around supplying orders so they may not be available until the new year.

Those of you who like me are keen to get Hawk widgets for Full Thrust or other games the spare stock is on hand but just waiting on staff time to prepare to make available.

There is likely to be one or two newsletters out this week; Dave almost let slip what the big announcement was going to be but caught it just in time! The official forum will be launching this week though probably on Monday or Tuesday.

Also on hand were the second printing command deck, with rounded corners and on good playing card stock. A much nicer finish and shuffle than the original deck but not something I could justify buying at the moment.

We also talked about future releases, though nothing specific was given away Dave did talk about filling out existing army list options, and about dropship transportable fortifications - have a bunker delivered by Albertross perhaps?

Just received my rulebook! Plan on buying up two starter sets and seeing if I can get a coworker interested.

GW Rules Interpretation Syndrom. GWRIS. Causes people to second guess a rule in a book because that's what they would have had to do in a GW system.

I'm playing the waiting game again! They definitely need to get their stock of ships Really nailed down before they put production into buildings. It kind of stifled the momentum of the game here, but folks are very interested once things become available.

But right now, they're just missing out on money by having so little stock.

Update on website, buildings now for sale!

However... can you say ouch at the prices?

Maybe I'm just tight, but between £30-100 for a single building is painfull to my wallet.... They are however stunning! Damn him! :-)

My comments are my own, and mine own alone. If you have any complaints, please report to Mr Spanky who will take them down for you.....

I was holding off on getting a DZC army until the buildings went up on the website, wanted to see how much they would cost before I made a commitment since I, like most others I imagine, won't be content with playing with paper buildings forever, and I think now I'm glad I did.

I mean seriously, GW doesn't even have the gall to sell buildings for $100+ each, and they think they literally make the best models in the world. About $350 for five buildings (if you buy the cheapest bundle direct from their website), when the average table will require at least 10-15...

Honestly, I'm disappointed. I really liked the look of Dropzone Commander, turns out it really is a rich man's game.

Plenty of laser cut options for buildings, quite affordable too

You do realize that there's literally nothing forcing you to play Dropzone Commander with those buildings ?
The rules are not tied to Hawkwargames' terrain, so you can just get some other in-scale buildings, for much less.
Your table just won't look like the ones in the rulebook, that's all.

Not only that, but he expects most people not to use them- hence the free paper versions, and he's mentioned hoping to come up with lower cost solid buildings in future.

Gotta add a +1 here. I understand that Dropzone commander is not a cheap game (Full armies are still cheaper than 40k armies though...), but it's the cost of the buildings that's dissuading you? Come on now. It's time to cut whatever umbilical cord you've got connecting having to buy a game's specific scenery in order to play the game.
You don't.
N scale (10mm, same as DZC) buldings are available for less, as are lasercut buildings.

If the game itself is too expensive for you, then don't get it, but a particular line of expensive buildings shouldn't be the deciding factor.
