And in perhaps my most epic game of 40k in the almost 18 years I have been playing, I lost to him by a die roll.

But, I got a hug after it, so I was happy.

Would anyone happen to have Mr. Gonyo's list? I am quite intrigued!

Either way, congrats to all those that did well! Looks like a tough field all around!

He trolls and will probably post ... his list roughly is a pair of psybolt strike squads, a purifier squad (all 3 of them 10-man), coteaz and a psycannon inquisitor, 50 guardsmen w/ a lord commissar and basic gear (power axes ... maybe not even meltabombs), a walking incinerator dreadknight, 6 psybolt razorbacks, and a trio of 3-man scoring aco squads.

I only remembered Hammer of Wraths from Screamers once. I only remembered Fear once. I DID remember Soul Devourer and killed a Mawloc with it...

My game with him was pretty damn epic as well. It wound up coming down to a 4+ roll whether my two surviving havocs, who were straddling a quadrant line, would be in the right one and give me the 2/1 win on quarters, or the wrong one and give it to him 2/1. Nice guy and good opponent.

Why is cubic zirconia higher than mithril?

2012- stopped caring
Nova Open 2011- Orks 8th Seed---(I see a trend)
Adepticon 2011- Mike H. Orks 8th Seed (This was the WTF list of the Final 16)
Adepticon 2011- Combat Patrol Best General

The bottom bracket was named Mithril because the person with the lowest competitive score in the tournament always gets the Orlando Bloom award (a Lord of the Rings boxed set) as a joke prize (this year it was the Mines of Moria set).

It continues our tradition of honoring those on the low end of the scale with tongue in cheek references to the Lord of the Rings. Hence the last place award being the "Orlando Bloom Award".

I just want to thank everyone who attended the 2012 BFS. You guys really made this an awsome event. As much as the T.O. gets the credit we couldnt have done it without all of the awsome attendees everyone was a class act. Congrats to Andrew and Ragnar for winning the Top Prizes. Also grats to all of the other Bracket winners, Paint/modelling and sports winners as well.

Hope to see you all on columbus day weekend 2013 !

Tournament Champion (Gold bracket winner): Andrew Gonyo (Grey Knights/IG)

Tournament Champion Runner-up: Matt DeFranza (Eldar/Dark Eldar)

Silver: Mike Brandt (Tyranids)
Bronze: Nick Nanavati (Tyranids)
Iron: Ragnar Arneson (CSM/Daemons)
Pearl: Werner Born (Necrons)
Jade: George Tsemberlis (Deamons)
Cubic zirconia: Charles Kandalaft (Space Wolves)
Mithril: Arjun Miller (Eldar)

Wow, that's a Dakka "Who's who" up there! Nice job Target (champion), MVBrandt (Silver), yermom (Bronze), and Mannahnin (Iron). And of course any other Dakka poster on that list I missed

--------------------------------------------------------------

So, the IG blob with power axes is looking pretty darn convincing! First Tony K at Nova, now Target here winning with it. Surprised it did so well combined with razorspam, but that's actually pretty cool.

The only bummer is I thought I was going to be unique in taking some guard troop allies . But I might put mine in chimeras and outflank with Al'rahem to mix it up...

Nice to see 'nids taking 3rd and 4th, too!

Are pics from the event going to be uploaded online? A remember a ton of army pics being shot and displayed on the projector screen. Will those go up on the website or elsewhere?

Yes mark your calendars for columbus day weekend 2013 ! The Battle for Salvation has once again secured the room at the Palasades Mall to host the 4th Annual BFS 40k GT. I know thats a long way off but we want to let everyone know that th BFS will continue its tradition of hosting its GT on Columbus day weekends and in doing so we made sure to early reserve the facility we have used for the past 2 years.

The Palasades Mall is a great place to hold these types of events. Local Hotels, Tons of resterants and eateries in the mall. Loads of shopping for those significant others who want to tag along. Also the Mall is about 45min from NYC using mass transit or a personal vehical. Simply put its a great place to host a tournament. Its reletivly cheap for the NYC area Allowing us to provide more prize support, its big and roomy with lots of gaming space.

The Battle for Salvation GT has grown at a steady pace over the past few years. Starting with 48 and growing to 64 players(62 with 5 no shows) this year. We would like to keep the GT an intimate setting. As players who have been to our tournament know, we provide plenty of space to play and we will continue to provide a relaxed comfortable setting for the gamers. With this being said we can comfortably host a GT over 100 players given the room size. However its never really been our intention to host an GT of that size. So we have a few things we are considering for next years GT.
One would be to open the GT up to max 80 players. This would give players plenty of room to game and also keep the amount of games played in our win/loss format to no more than 7 games, this format is my favorate because we are most comfortable with it and it has been our goal to get to 80 players.
Two would be to provide some sort of secondary game on the weekend in conjunction with the GT. Leaving open the possibilities of doing narrative Apoc games or some other format that would not conflict with the GT gamers. Friday we host a skirmish Tournament that is played mostly by GT players who come in for earlier gaming.
Third could also be the possibility of hosting a small Fantasy or warmachine tourny as well. However our gaming group is primarily 40k so going to another game would mean outside help
