So Didde, it looks like you figured out the friction-fit of the pilots? It is a bit tricky isn't it?

Thx guys!

I haven't had any will to build or paint what so ever.. i really hope that it will return soon! i'm like looking at my table and think "hmm, maybe i should paint alittle." but then i don't know where to start and so i loose the desire to do anything..
Also one reason i haven't done anything is that i want to buy some PC so that i can customize my vehicles abit! so if anyone know a good site where i can find please share! and the best stuff to buy. like the basic things you need.
i'm also gonna buy some weathering powders and masterclass books from forgeworld.and hopefully i'll get my desire back and learn some new stuff in the process.

anyways! iv'e been looking at my baneblade awhile now and figured i need to do something about it.

here is what it looked like when i decided it was finished back in 2011.

i didn't paint the crew since i didn't have the paint for it.. also as you can see, there is no weathering on it what so ever.
but that's about to change!

The things i'm gonna do with it is:
1. make the crew more interesting (iv'e already done some things there. like building a gunshield for the gunner and changed the hatch for the commander).
2. well obviously it's in dire need of some weathering..
3. smack some storage on it!
4. repainting some small stuff like lenses and lights.

i'm sure more things will be added to the list as i go along. but that's the main things i think needs to be done.

here's the peices i'm using for the new look of the crew

i'm still using the old gunner. but like i said i built a gunshield for him so he wount feel so exposed

and the things assembled. well, only tacked together so far.

imo the commander looks way more interesting now! with the new pose the with the stubber and light there.

www.iplasticsupply.com for sheet plastic, best price anywhere in the US.
http://www.iplasticsupply.com/materials/high-impact-styrene-his-sheet/ I use 1/16" or 0.40" almost exclusively.
All you need is a knife, plenty of sharp blades, and a cork-backed stainless steel ruler ( $8 Michael's, Hobby Lobby, etc.) I'd recommend this thin beam square as an optional accessory

Find your local model train shop too, loot them like you were an ork. O scale is the good stuff, but some ho scale works too. Also you may want to buy some clamps. And testers orange tube glue.

I tweeted iplasticsupply a suggestion to re-add decimal sizes to their website, and today they implemented it Now they are listed in fractions and decimals.
.>And I was wrong too, 0.40" or 3/64" is what I use exclusively, sorry bout that. 1/16" is 0.60", and more like the bottom hull thickness of a Chimera kit.

Thx for the help there guys! with that stuff i'm gonna redo the tail of the marauder to make the mid wingpart abit taller. i think that will look cool.

and thank you vik! i made it out of some LRBT sponson parts i took some pics of the process if you're interested.
but i guess it would be just as easy to just scratch something form PC..

not much of an update today guys.
i'm currently working on the commander. removing some fancy bling bling stuff he had on his right shoulder and doing some small GS work on him.
i really hope i got the skill to pull it off tho.

i“d be interested nevertheless... even tho i would scratchbuild them... LRBT stuff would be too valuable to just cut it up

Ok, well i'll see if i can post the process of it tomorrow

And now i do have a small update "yaaaay" for ya!

like i said i'm working on the commander at the moment. and this is what i've done so far.

I removed the bling bling on the shoulder and smoothed it out with some GS.

And while i was in the mood for playing around with it and having some GS left i decided that i'll try to do a pair of googles for him aswell!

and imo it turned out well! it's the first time i ever try something like that!

So what do you guys think?

that helmet looks super awesome with those goggles...!

but why did you get rid of the bling? such nice detail...?

Thx vik! i'm really pleased with how they turned out. and it really gives a new look to the helmet!

about the bling. i don't want a simple vehicle commanders to have bling. it doesn't really fit in a tank imo.

but on the command squad there should be bling! or any higher ranked officer for that matter.

beside... you get so cramped in the small space inside a tank you probably get caught in all these levers and stuff with all that bling

No no no. Don you know all GW tank commanders are supposed to have swords raised and be screaming at the crew to get closer. The big guns are just for show.

Seriously though the goggles are great and the rest of the conversions are coming along seamlessly. Great job.

Thx alot! i bought some new tools for the purpose of working with GS and that was the trial run. BEST TOOLS EVAH!!

Viktor von Domm wrote:beside... you get so cramped in the small space inside a tank you probably get caught in all these levers and stuff with all that bling

yupp, atleast that's that's my experience when sitting in a tank. but a baneblade isn't really a tank.. more like a moving fortress.. and by the look of the model it seems like there's alot of space in it
but anyways, no fance bling bling on my vehicle commanders! that's for the fancy pants officers in the back of the army..

lol! "Drive me closer, i want to hit them with my sword!" who the hell does even consider bringing a sword into a tank?!?! only in the warhammer universe..
and thanks alot!

I visited a friend today and took a look at his army. he has over 3k points and it's only old school metal models.
and among all the models he had something i really liked and it also gave me a few cool ideas.

it was his version of a manticore on a chimera chasis. he turned the turret backwards and put 6 hunter killer missiles on there! pretty cool conversion imo.

and the first thing i thought is that i wanna buld a Leman russ style calliope with a hell lots of rockets!

Not where I should be

Firstly, great work love it.

And for my 2 cents, write everything Dave says down in triplicate and paste it to the ceiling. He is a god.

I am very envious of your greenstuff work, I just can't seem to get to that fine detail myself. Looks awesome.

And for me binoculars down, so you can see the face.

Dude! That Calliope is the ONLY great use I've EVER seen for those HK Missile boxes! Brilliant!

Thank you alot my good sir! and welcome. you do make some great stuff yourself! as for the GS, imo the tools you use makes a huge difference! and alot of patience ofc...

@dave, I know! that's what i thought too. so simple and yet so effective!

here's what they look like right now.. i realised that the gunner would be a pain in the to paint.
so i took him apart and stripped off the paint. and yeah. this is how far iv'e come with them.

that's all for now.

good decision on disasembling the gunner...i should have done so quite often likewise... but i didn“t... so yours is the smart way... i took always the dumb way... and the swearing way^^

Made in se
Storm Trooper with Maglight

Haha well.. i was really close of doing it the dumb and swearing way to! what saved me was that it all fell apart when i stripped the paint from it!

one thing i love about myself is that i don't use a big amount of glue! only so much that it doesn't fall apart during normal handling.
in that way it's still easy to break apart when i want it too.

LOL... well my models are either made with plastic glue...(forged together for eternity...) or PVA (globbered together for eternity too) or in rather rare cases made with superglue... and then i have a chance to disassemble them without a hammer...

this modus operadi developed over time as i often had the case of my mdels falling apart in my fingers... and as i have quite the temper...this is not really something i look forward too too often

I glue them with super glue - gorilla brand - i have had models fall off table and not a single break! love the stuff, and it can be snapped apart again for later.

Lalalala, nah i'm not gone.. yet. well not that i intend to leave anytime soon. i've just been lurking around for about 2 months

So i figured it's time to throw in an update of what iv'e been up to. well, it hasn't been that much actually. just some small things here and there.

first things first. iv'e slowly been building up my arsenal of building materials and and stuff like that. and quite naturally i've run out of space to place things.. as you can see below.

but don't fear! i just used my god awesome carpentry skills! heh, i'd love to have some anyway. and well, i made myself a shelf using old furniture.

looks good doesn't it?

iv'e also played my first ever game of 40k! and believe it or not i actually won! and no i don't have any reports or photos of the game. i had full focus on just trying to learn how to play. but it was a game of 1535p space marines VS. space wolfs.
my opponent had to leave at the end of turn 3 so we just counted victorypoints and it ended at 6-3 to me. i can't really give you any more details than that. i barely understood what i was doing during the game anyway!

so now i'm building up my IG army so that i can play with it. so you could say that the painting is on hold for now. after i'm done with the baneblade turret that is!

and about that turret! i'm done with the gunner and commander. so it's just the turret itself left now.
and ofc pics or it didn't happen (heh, sais the one that won a battle he doesn't even have pic of) and so on.

and those photos are taken under the light of my 2 new lamps i bought today.

and and they are soooo much better than the old one. there you can also see the new shelf
and that is the position of the lamps when i don't use them. if you hadn't figured that yet

and this is when i use them for photos.

the only thing i need for that now is a lightbox. i guess i have to make one... someday... somehow...

anyway! that's all for now. and i'll just end this update with a teaser of a future scenario.
