I'm having a hard time deciding my favourite class and load-out for the Space Marine game. So far, I have two:

1. Devestator with Heavy Bolter, Grenades, Iron Halo, and Feel No Pain - max protection and plenty of firepower.

2. Assault Marine with Power Sword, Plasma Pistol, Grenades, Sword Zeal, and Impenetrable - superb mobility and heal while slicing the enemy.

I find the Thunder Hammer too slow and the Lascannon no good if the enemy comes too close, though others seem to use them quite well. I take both these classes as is in the Versus and Exterminatus modes.

I like to take a tactical marine with the bolter and kraken bolts, and that perk that lets you get 2 primary weapons. with the other weapon i take a stalker bolter or melta gun, depending on the map.

I haven't played in ages, but my favourite loadout was Tactical Marine with a Storm Bolter, and the Meltagun. Apart from the obvious 2 weapon perk, I can't remember the other perk I took

I loved that class though - Storm Bolters rocked!

I used to do very well with a Tac Marine with Plasma Rifle and either a Storm Bolter or Melta Gun

EDIT: I would choose the back-up depending on who I was playing. If there were tons of Assault Marines, I'd choose the Melta Gun, ect. I loved using the Plasma Gun since it was quite accurate and really tore through enemy shields. Plus, the overcharge was quite useful when people were bunched up on capture points.

I have two favourites as well.

The Tactical marine with Bolter, Kraken bolts and the Bolter targeter seems to be the setup that I perform the best with. Works well for me on all maps.

Second favourite would be much like yours. Assault with a Chainsword, Zeal and Impenetrable. I can't seem to play the Assault class well at all on open maps though. :(

I believe it was devastator with plasma cannon, iron halo, and artificer armor, for me.

Either plasma Dev or Tac with Stalker, melta and MC nades.
In Exterminatus, a hammer Assault marine or plasma cannon work nicely.

Mine was always a tactical marine with a stormbolter and a stalker bolter. I dont know why, but I always did well with those two weapons.

I recall liking a Lascannon backed up with a bolter on my Devastator, complete with an Iron Halo and a Stomp boost.

Tactical - Storm Bolter and Melta Gun (Multi-Weapon Perk and Larramans Blessing)

Assault - Power Sword and Plasma Pistol (Zeal and Impenetrable)

Devastator - Heavy Bolter (Iron Halo and Artificer Armour)

Although I had a lot of favourite builds.... I should really replay this as I'm still sitting at Lvl.40...... only one more level

For tactical, I used a meltagun and storm bolter IIRC.

Power sword and bolt pistol with swordsman and the one that reduced ranged damage on assault.

I only ever play 2 classes in both Coop and PvP. Sorry I can't remember the names of perks, I described them instead.

Assault
Thunder Hammer and Plasma Pistol
-Reduce ranged damage and Insta death hammer.
-In Coop I replace Insta death hammer with More powerful stun moves

Thunder Hammer may be slow, but with the upgrade you only ever need to connect once for a kill. The trick is to not waste time with air attacks or charges. You're aiming for a clean ground attack and your opponent is toast.

Heavy
Plasma Cannon
-Extra ammo and Iron Halo
-In Coop I replace Iron halo with Increased stomp Area of Effect

Plasma cannon is an absolute beast. The charged shot is easily capable of taking out multi Orks or Space Marines alike. It chews through ammo fast when firing charged shot so extra ammo is a must. The single shots are great if anyone appears suddenly or gets too close.

Note: In both Coop profiles I have taken stun bonuses. They are the best upgrades for Coop.

Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.

Yeah, stun in co-op makes it actually playable for gorups taht aren't insanely skilled.

My new favourite:

Tactical Marine
Stalker-pattern Bolter
Meltagun
Dual-Wield Weapons
Larraman's Blessing

I've been very successful both in Versus and Exterminatus with this. Sniper rifle for distance, Melta for in close, Bolt Pistol as back up, Combat knife for fun, and Larraman's Blessing to quickly heal.

I've still never managed to finish exterminatus, always get to the bonus wave at the end and fail. :(

Tactical is Bolter with Kraken Rounds and Bolter Targeter - reasonable damage and the targeter is great for distance. Still have to be careful as most things can out shoot it at medium range.

Havoc is Heavy Bolter Expertise with Chaos Icon - maneuverability and resilience.

Raptor is Impenetrable with Air Cooled Thrusters - hit and run and increased survivability.

They are my best loadouts. I play a few others but they are the ones I do most damage with.

I've beaten Exterminatus on all three map sets - Kalkys, Hab Center, and Chaos Invasion and there is, unfortunately, no cut scene or other triumphant celebration of such hard-won victories - there really should be!

You do need a good team of four people who work together and talk to each other for the last level and bonus rounds of each map set or you simply won't survive.

Nice one man, I'm going to try and pop back on more often over the next few days and see if I can do it, still annoying me that I haven't managed it yet. I'm pretty disappointed that there isn't so much of a reward for finishing it, as you mentioned at least a small cutscene or cinematic would have been nice.

I'll try and coax some of my friends into playing again, I refuse to give up on this yet... it's almost as annoying as gold/platinums on ME3

You're a very naughty boy!

There are a few Brits here, what platform does everyone have it on, perhaps we could organise a game?

I have it on PS3 and Xbox although my Gold has run out and I am loathe to renew it.
