Well It all started with two of my friends and I went to the LA battle bunker it was empty save one other 40k player and we went in expecting to play a 2 vs 1 game when the lonely guy came up and asked if we minded if he played so we would have a 2v2 game so we all agreed and began to quickly put our lists together (1000 pts. each) he begins to slam down what we can all see as well more then 1k space marines so after 5 mins of us talking him down to making a real list of 1k we set up terrain so that is as even as possible while still being interesting while he is swapping everything we put on the table to be in his advantage. after the game starts we notice him pushing the models around so that he would get LOS or be in cover so on. (at this point we were all texting each other to come up with a reason to leave politely) when I look away to say something to one of the employees that we made friends with, I look back to see what kind of damage he did with is 20 dice against my battle wagon and see 20 dice all on 6's and he said he made all 20 pen shots. after staring at him for about a min blankly I said "you know what, I'm done" and began to pack, my friends following a long and he was asking why were were leaving as if he didn't understand why we began packing up on the second round so I told him my friend from Alaska had just been mauled by a polar bear and i had to drive up to see him and he responded with " Oh im sorry man I hope he gets better" that was the first and last time until recently that we even tried to play with someone that wasn't part of our group.

Facing grey knights with Tyranids. Every unit I had was wiped of the board, and I didn't kill a single unit.

Worst one....really dont have one all of mine have been good.

Literally the worst part of this game.

The last game I played in 5th edition. It was myself and our TFG against someone else and the #2 TFG in a team game.

My partner tried to assault some jetbikes through between two squads to get onto an objective. It was very dubious that they'd be able to fit through the gap.

An argument then broke out between the two TFGs. My partner was all like "I'm so confused, they have put out so many different bases as the "official" bases for eldar jetbikes," despite the fact that some of them had been rebased, and some of them were proxied DE bikes (though he was, technically, using the bases that came with the models). The other guy insisted that he use the bases that the models were actually based on, regardless of what they were "supposed" to be based on.

It made me sick. I didn't care who won if the winner was going to be determined by TFGs yelling at each other about who was modelling for advantage whom, and who was twisting the rules against the other person or not.

I literally went home and took a shower after that one.

The worst game was 5 hours to complete a 1500 point game that only went 5 rounds.

He had proxies all over the place, took ages to decide where to move his vehicles, and then ages again to decide what he wanted to shoot.

Ugh...

My very first game of 40K ever . Went to the local club back in London Town with my brand spanking new Necron army that I had spent months painting (was shy about playing , go figure .)

Got there , said hello , usual idle chit chat . Found a game , the guy asked what I was playing , told him . Be right back he replied . No problems . So he went to the back of the hall and wrote up his DE army , with 18 Dark Lances crammed into it .

Tabled turn 3 . Luckily some blokes spoke to me afterwards and the rest was history .

Playing against 2k points worth of IG with my dark Eldar in 6th ed.

Facing 3 LR's, a hellhound, artillery, a wall of vets in Heavy-bolter-Multilaser chimeras plus a Prescience primaris psyker and a commander issuing order...and then the Vendettas. Holy crap, the vendettas!

Basically, the whole game consisted of me watching him rolling and re-rolling dice for a 20-minute turn, me rolling the few saves I was allowed, doing my thing in a 3-minute turn, then being wiped off the board.

My presence there was entirely unecessary. You could have let me roll with d10s instead of d6s or put a monkey there in my stead and it would still have gone mostly the same.

If those vets were in chimeras they shouldn't have been getting rerolls through orders. You can only receive orders outside of a vehicle. Units embarked are unable to be given them. Other than the vendettas, what all was he getting rerolls on?

As for mine, the "worst" experience was probably at a team tourney that my FLGS held back in 5th. You were randomly paired up with partners every round. Game 1, I was paired with a DE player who hated all IG players, and treated my army as expendable meatshields (yes, I use them as meatshields too, but the way he acted towards me was what made it suck) 2nd game wasn't so bad, merely we got tabled. 3rd game however was really bad. We had an ork player who was a bit of a jerk on my team. I explained to him that I had to issue orders at the VERY beginning of my shooting phase or else I lost them. Due to the way the tourney was set up, if he shot one thing before I did, I lost all my orders. And when you're against a spacewolf and black templar, you need all the orders he can get. What happens first turn? "Ok, I'm going to issue bring it do-""I"M FIRING MY LOOTAS!"

Cue an ork player hiding in the back field all game while I had to be the aggressor with a foot IG list against space marines, and you can guess how the rest went...

A Heavy weapons team in the back and the vets, as they eventually did disembark onto terrain to plasma my venoms into pieces. He really had no shortage of...anything.

Facing GK's with 20x Strikes + 10x Interceptors... With Daemons.

At least your Tyranids got to actually deploy on the table! Not a single one of my daemons was allowed that courtesy. Plus the hole GK player used RAW to juggle my units between quake zones. (and yes, it's a legal move, despite what some of dakkadakka thinks.)

Then the fat donkeycave went and did the same thing to a 12 year olds Daemon army.

Yeah, this basically sums up why I hate playing against gunlines.

If all you wanted to do was display your minis on the table and then start rolling dice, then why am I here? The only way I impact you is by helping determine which dice you're rolling. It's not really a game, though.

wanted to see how GT look in other countries . start of 5 th ed . deploy my first to speeders . opponent calls judge . disqualified for having scenic bases and not the official Land Speeder ones . If it wasnt for the fact that I paid for hotel in advance , I would have gone home . Worse thing about it all was that they didnt let me stay with my friends , so I had to wait for 8 hours infront of the convetion center without cash and nothing to drink , to eat . I didnt take cash with me because duh there was suppose to be water/food durning the convetion.

Played in a tournament one time and my first round was against a woman playing tyranids. She repeatedly asked me to move her models when she couldn't reach them and being a good sport, I did.

After 2 rounds of it getting progressively worse, her outlining genestealers came on and she wanted me to deploy them because she didn't want to walk around the table. So i neatly bunched them up under a 5" blast template and proceded to place my vindicator's template over the whole squad in my next shooting phase.

I rolled a hit and wiped the squad and as I'm handing the models back to her the TO walks up and asks what happened to them. She replies "That", pointing to my vindi.

The TO then asks here why she deployed them so close to which she says "I didn't. He did." gesturing towards me.

He looks passed now and asks why I'm deploying her models and she tells him she asked me to and all that.

Come to find out, the woman was the TO's wife and he had written he list and assigned her either attacker or defender in each scenario to tilt the odds in her favor.

My next 2 games were a bit rough to say the least.

Wow, thats rough, now the important question is, did you come out on top for those next two rounds, that would be the perfect way to say 'Feth you' to the TO and his dirty antics.

Well one of those rounds was meat grinder defending against orcs. Surviving 6 turns against 200 orcs with "without number" just wasn't going to happen.

The positive was that we were the stores regular game group and amazingly non of us got top 5. Including the guy who went on to win the GT that year. While the To's friends, including his wife who I know for a fact lost at least 2 of 3, all got top 5. We quickly told the store manager that if that particular TO ever had a tournament ip there again, we would stop coming in. We never saw that TO again.

man do i have a few but this one always takes the cake me and a friend of mine just got into playing 40k (probably a year after 5th ed release) i had a small ork army and my friend had a small ig army so when we would get a game going we would build our army lists right then and there then we would set up the table and get the game started the game would go fine for the first turn or 2 but when my orks got a few kills in and made their way across the table he would always call it and give up after turn 3 or so, and it happened more than once and it got to the point where i stopped playing for almost a year because of that crap but since then ive found other people to play with but the point im trying to get across is that with that friend we would spend more time setting up then actually playing witch is one of my worst experiences

I would have just walked around the table and punched him in the face once i was disqualified. wouldn't have mattered anyway. if some neckbeard nerd dill weed is so hellbent on winning that he will get you DQ'd for making your models look better.......i would have been in lock-up that night.

First gaming experience ever, some years ago when Tau first came out as an army there was a guy.
Someone who was judge in the local store where we played MtG back then. I saw his miniatures once.
When i finally got into the game i told him that i started Warhammer and he said that we could play a small match in order to learn.
I didnt know the rules. I was a blind chicken. He told me that i should put a stealth unit and a unit of FW
and he had CSMs. He set up against me about 5 termies and 15 zerkers telling me that they were equal to mine.
We played in a very small table with little to no terrain at all. He beat the crap out of me and i didnt learned the game after all.
Dont know why i continued to want to learn the game after that..

Let us just that UK is not a good place to be in jail when your polish , not even when its for a single day . What realy was not the fact that some guy did that , donkey-caves happen , but the reaction of the judge . one look at the land speeders , didnt even ask me If I had speeders with skimer bases to replace those [I could have borrowed from a friend who had his whole sm collection with him and wasnt playing] . I seriously wasnt expacting that and can only blame my naivitate for believing all that stuff about "for fun" thing .

My worst gaming experience (of 40k) had to be my 3rd round of a tournament where I faced Deathwing. I had never played Dark Angels before and this was just after their 5th edition update (that several codices received).

Terminators just appeared all around me and boxed me in and just rained missiles down over and over and my Chaos warband was sent back to the warp very unceremoniously.

Plus the gentleman I played against was a waac player and a downright git.

Faced a 2k point tau army back during 5th at my old FLGS that had a Hammerhead, two broadsides, and every squad leader had a marker light...and he also kept saying that his hammerhead was high enough to ignore any cover saves that my vehicles should have been getting, but low enough that they always got cover saves.

At 1850 18 DLs would be acceptable...
not at 500...

Anytime fighting a skimmerspam army in 4th...Bad memories there.

The #1 reason I will never play in tournaments, ever. No amount of fun can balance out this kind of asinine behavior. Especially as I will probably have been playing/painting for as long as most prospective opponents have been alive.

I have several things on older bases that are not "current", and I refuse to damage the paintjobs on things like my metal terminators just to cut their tabs off and pin them onto 40mm bases.

Not to mention the fact that I would constantly have to defend myself to TO's against narcissistic nerd "expert players" who have been playing for three years and don't recognize my 2e metal Necrons as actual GW models, or try to claim that my 1994 Howling Banshees can't be fielded against him until I cut off all their laspistols and replace them with the shuriken pistols the book says they must have. Or try to claim that I "can't use that SM army as Blood Angels because they aren't red"

Playing a guy who measured everything exactly. And I don't mean that "That's 13'', not 14''!" exactly, I mean that "That's 13,2'', not 13,3''!" exactly.

Played dark eldar vs tau friendly game. 1500 points. It went well till he kept abusing his smart missiles and leadership tests. *rolls leadership* he says he passed. I ask him what his leadership was since he rolled an 11. He said he didn't know since his codex was completely on his phone( mind you he was playing my tau). After explaining a lot he said tau sucked since he can't kill me by turn 2. He was going to buy them and went as far as saying after the battle he was more interested in "renting" the army instead of buying them. He is 23.

1 assault marine survived 2 full turns of shooting from about 20 shoota boyz.

My worst game so far would be a couple days ago. Great Unclean One, nuff said. Couldn't finish the game, I could barely keep down my lunch.

Wish I could play my friend who showed me how to play but I haven't been able to get in contact. Must be busy.
