Ok, so page 51 of the main rulebook.

It states if a model doesn't have a weapon with the melee type, it is treated as having a close combat weapon.

So we take a regular tactical marine, who has nothing, he now has a close combat weapon.

The very next paragraph states that pistols, of course, count as a close combat weapon, but don't have the melee type.

Stealth update for +1 attacks for many models with just a pistol, or what?

No, nothing has changed. Pistols have always counted as a CC wepon and only count as a second CC weapon if you have another CC weapon.

No. This has came up many times here in YMDC. When it is 0, makes it 1. When you don't have 0, you don't add anything.

Er.

Just to make sure I'm not crazy, where does it state that the "free" CCW can't combine with another one for an extra attack?

Of course I just read the pistol section and it stated you can use the melee profile for a pistol in CC... but it doesn't say if this counts towards having a melee weapon...

In a games system you have to look for where it says you can combine the free weapon with the pistol, if it does not say you can then you cant.

Basically you dont have a CCW so you have your hands/feet/whatever which counts as one, when you buy a pistol you gain a CCW meaning you no longer activate the free one.

There is this thread:

And there is that example in page 24 which states that 5 marines with bolters roll 5 dice in close combat.

Because you never hgave the situation wher you have both. BY definition, if you DO havea CCW you dont get the NSCCW
