Hey guys

I just need some friendly advice

I've recently 'started' buying chaos daemons, and I really like them, but since I've seen the leak of the new dark angels models
I can't help but wish that I'd saved on that little bit longer and started them instead. I've always been a huge fan of the hooded marines, but I don't really like vanilla marines. I don't like the story, nor the rules?

Can anyone help me with pro's/cons to the dark angels? I mean in past editions. I don't know much of their background either, just the old models. Should I stick to daemons or should I tempt myself? :(

Thanks! That's given me quite an insight into their history rule wise, is there much difference between the dark Angels and your old marines? In the old rules of course?

Who said they were? They got given a WD update, and an improvement one at that which is more than the SOB got, so id say be glad daemons are at least playable now.

Both Harry & Hastings on Warseer have hinted at Daemons getting their new books sometime between early to mid 2013.

Logical guess would be mid 2013 as there's been rumors of new plastic greater daemon kits coming out about that time. Daemons are also still having huge problem even atempting to play against GK's, while the Fantasy side is still OP since 8th edition did little to de-buff them overall. (actually, if anything, the new BRB lores have made Daemons even more powerful! )

To be fair daemons are gonna have problems against GK anyway, i play them and even im disgusted at an army tailored to another army >>

*sigh* You do remember there's two games you can use Daemons in?! The Daemons books will be just like before, Codex: Daemons for 40k players & Warhammer Armies: Daemons of Chaos for the square basers!

I swear Fantasy players get less and less respect every day...

I just twigged! Haha I play skaven and Orcs & Goblins and I still forgot >.<

I asked about plural because 1 person I know said that he heard about the chaos armies being split between the chaos gods. Like 1 for khorne, tzeentch, nurgle and
Slaanesh! I said it was a load of rubbish, but when you said 'books' you had me worried lol

Of course if you just like the aesthetic of the Dark Angels, Keep your Daemons and take an allied unit of Chaos Marines.

"But Chaos Marines are not Dark Angels"

I know, but what you do, is KIT BASH, KIT BASH, KIT BASH!
For this to work, buy one box of Chaos Marines, then buy two of the Dark Angels upgrade kits (they are like $19 or something and a heck of a lot cheaper than buying the 5 pack of Dark Angels which is like $40 and you get a crap-ton more stuff)

Then what you do, is you take a file, file off all (or most of the Dark Angels iconography, and add Chaos heads, shoulder pads, backpacks, weapons etc. Until you have robed chaos marines that you could field as fallen Dark Angels or just Chaos Marines.

BAM

combined your two interests into one army.

Done.

If you want to put them in a Legion, sure. Although robed chaos marines could really fall into any warband you chose. I have a unit which belong to Slaanesh. So, take your pick.

Yeah, but at the same time people have been saying that the Tau Codex is just around the corner since 2011, so I'd take any unsubstantiated rumor (ie, one without some sort of plausible picture) with several grains of salt. The only codex that we can reasonably suspect to be released soon is Chaos Space Marines, if only because of the inclusion of the Hellbrute and Cultist models in the starter set.

Unless they do them as "super duper special exclusive WD units" like they did when the fliers came out

Traditionally, Dark Angels have been Stubborn or Intractable, which (in their respective editions) meant that a unit of Dark Angels that failed morale would just stand and shoot more, or that Dark Angels were one step off from being altogether Fearless. They've also had more plasma in their army, and in 3rd were the only Marines who could get plasma cannons in Tactical Squads, at least initially.

The army still works as a general Marine army served by elite bikers and slightly better than average Terminators, or as armies consisting exclusively of one or both of those last two elements. This is something intrinsic to the character of the army and is what makes them special, even if all-Terminator or all-biker armies have been co-opted by Space Wolves and Grey Knights for the former, and Space Marines for the latter. This won't change for the DA, and is probably the only thing you can really count on for the next codex.

The newest rumor from Hastings is that DA is slated for November, which seems awful soon but I'd like to see.
