I'm just wonder if there are any mentions of weapons utilizing the RIS(Rail Interface systems) to attach accessories such as scopes or flash lights;

Do such weapons exist?(I want to know cause I want to use third party weapons with RIS while having a fluffy army)

There are so many patterns of weapons out there that I'm sure some of them have something similar. Go nuts, and it'll look cool to boot

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Hm lascannons and melta weapons could be on similar principle....

ADB: I showed the Wolves revealing the key weakness at the heart of the World Eaters; showing Angron that his Legion was broken and worthless compared to the others; that he was the one primarch who couldn't trust his own warriors, and that they didn't care if he lived or died; showing that loyalty to brothers and sons is the heart of success for the Legiones Astartes, to the point even Lorgar makes a big deal out of saying the World Eaters and their primarch were massively outclassed by Russ, and Angron was too stupid to see the lesson Russ had sacrificed time, sweat, and blood, to teach. We're talking about a battle the Wolves won, by isolating the enemy general through pack tactics, and threatening to kill him, without a hope of defending himself. It was a balance, 50/50 - Angron overpowered Russ, and the Wolves were losing ground to the World Eaters; but Russ and his warriors had Angron by the balls, and barely broke a sweat. They won, no question. Lorgar even says: "The Wolves won, meathead."

Dorn won’t help you either. He’s too busy being the Emperor’s groundskeeper, hiding behind the palace walls. The Wolf is too busy cutting off heads as our father’s executioner, while the Lion holds on to his secrets, and has no special fondness for you. Who else will come? Not Ferrus, certainly. Nor Corax either. Even as we speak, I suspect he flees for Deliverance. Sanguinius?’ Curze laughed cruelly. ‘The angel is more cursed than I. The Khan? He does not wish to be found. So who is left? No one, Vulkan. None of them will come. You are simply not that important. You are alone.’ Konrad Curze to Vulkan

Well, ln 'dexes and art there is numerous bayoneted weapon. And in RW i do not remember many weapons with integral bayonet but number of ones with special mount for it.

PS Just as curiosity: some infantry rifles (designed pre-WWI) were intended with usage with bayonet only (but bayonet was detachable). This led to strange things like bayoneted sniper rifle - Mosin rifle 1891/31 was sniper version of 1891/30, and bayonet was kept as this was more cost-effective than introducing balancing weight.

Bayoneted Sniper Rifle?! That sounds perfect for 40k

I don't recall any specific mentions of rails, but the roleplaying games make it seem pretty easy to add accessories to weapons and some of the novels mention lights and suchlike being attached to lasguns without going into too much detail of how that is done.

Nah, too slender and pretty to be imperial -

And 1938 version was bayonetless

BTW i could swear that i saw imperial sniper rifle with LARGE blade bayonet in some 'dex or IA.

I think the admech would have a cow if you put a rail system on a bolter.

I doubt actual 1913 MIL-STD rails would have survived into the 41st milenium. There may be something similar.

BTW, things like flashlights etc don't necessarily need rails - magnetic locks ARE used in 40k.

There are weapon attachments such as sights, suppressors and bayonets, which are in some way affixed to a weapon. The design of the guns in the 41st millennium, however, would support the idea of maglocks as mentioned by chyron. If you look at a bolter, for example, you will see two rail-like sections - one on the top and one just below the barrel - where a targeter and a chainblade or sarissa could be attached. However, these sections are blank metal and not the "jagged" rails you are referring to as they are in use by modern day military forces.

This wargear was designed in a time when rails were still not standard issue, and much like other tech in the setting it may thus appear outdated. However, I find it much easier to believe that there either exists a superior alternative or that the technological retrogression and AdMech ritualisation/superstition has destroyed all knowledge of this option ... rather than updating the entire setting's tech every 10 years just because something new which could not have been foreseen by the writers has just been invented in the real world.

Magnetic locks seem to be what they use, almost universally present in novels etc...

I can see them having very small and powerful electromagnets built into most of their weapon systems.
