I've recently been watching the original series on DVD and realized that in most cases, I always missed the first 5 minutes of the episodes when they were on TV way back when. lol
At this moment, Mirror Mirror, (the one where Kirk, Uhura, Bones and Scotty are thrown into an alternate universe via a transporter accident...the one where Spock has a goatee) is in the top spot, but I haven't gotten to the 3rd season yet. Close second is the one where everyone on the ship is stoned out of their minds at the end after they'd been terrorized by the entity of Jack the Ripper.
As for TNG, any episode where they slapped a wig on Picard or the Romulans showed up. I never got into the other 3 Star Treks, so no favs there.
How about the rest of you? What are your favourites?

I think the two (three?) episode one where Picard is suspected dead but upon the smugglar ship is my favorite TNG episode.
It's hard to say what my favorite TOS episode is. I really liked Paradise Syndrome, though I was hella depressed after watching it.

This, 100%. I love that episode and imo its one of the greatest 45 minutes of television ever made.
Also a big fan Species 8472 and the two parter with them, think it's Scorpion, was a good time, espeically since it introduced one of Star Trek's more entertaining characters who ended up walking around in a nice body suit

The Inner Light (TNG) makes me tear up a little every time I see it.
City on the Edge of Forever (TOS) is a great one from the original series, quite touching.
The Visitor (DS9) is one of my all-time favorites - it's another one that makes me cry a little every time.
Honestly, it was hard to even pick just those few, one episode from each series I've seen. Seriously, there's a damn good reason this show went on for five different incarnations, 4 of which (I believe) went on for around 8 seasons.

How funny, I just finised DS9 and I'm aobut halfway through the Original Series.
I really recommend DS9, by far the strongest of the Treks.
For TOS it's amazing how hit and miss it can be and how repetative. A lot of it comes from the pressure of doing an episode a week on a budget smaller than some fan films today.
For me the best are the ones that build the universe or explore human nature.
For the first Court Marshall (Kirk is accused of killing one of his own men) is really good. It shows Starfleet working as a military organization and shows there's a whole organization out there just off screen. Trouble with Tribbles and Ultimate Computer are also good for this.
For human nature Mirror, Mirror (parallel universe full of evil twins!) and the Enemy Within (Kirk is split into good and evil halfs) are both excellent.
Now there's a lot we have to make allownaces for, the FX, the very theatrical acting, the science and the sexism but some of the original episodes hold up very well.
For the worst of the worst, i nominate The Omega Glory. It starts OK, the Enterprise finds another ship with the crew dead and the captain on the planet below going all Heart of Darkness ruling a tribe which he thinks has the key to immortality.
Fair enough.
But then we learn the planet is split into... are you ready for this? survivors of the Red Chinese and Americans (who are all white). And the Americans have a copy of Constitution saved. Kirk wins them over by reciting it correctly and talking about American principals.
All this on a planet where they already established people were thousands of years old. Just terrible science, ham-fisted symbolism and borderline racism. Automatically Appended Next Post: Most bestest evah is All Good Things, the final TNG episode.
Picard is slipping through time between the 'present' the pilot episode and the future. We get to see the future of the crew, and lots of fun.

I introduced my missus to it about three years ago and now she fething loves it.
So we have watched all TNG the past few years, enabling me to recall them all pretty well.
I think I liked the one where they cant sleep properly so Dianna Troy using some absurdly convoluted plot device manages to figure out they need to send a steam of gas out of the enterprise and cause a big ass explosion.
feth knows what it was called, its cool though. I remember some hearty loling at the various hallucinations, and seeing Ryker with bags under his eyes and fethed up hair.

Fave TOS Title: For The World is Hollow and I have touched the Sky.
Fave TOS Episode: A Piece of the Action. Gangsters in Space, one of the funnier endings too.
Fave DS9: Progress. Not for the main story though, the secondary plot is just damn entertaining, Jake and Nog make a number of trades to earn some Latinum.
Next Gen: Anything with Q. But especially Deja Q.... Love when Guinan stabs him in the leg.
Didn't really get into Voyager or Enterprise.

Aye got too many I've really enjoyed. TNG, I can narrow it down to, The Best of Both worlds part 1+2 (Picard and the Borg,) The Inner Light (Picard lives a lifetime in 25mins,) Redemption part 2 (Klingon civil war, Lursa and B'Etor yay,) Second Chances (Tom Riker,) All Good Things (final episode.) DS9 have a few more, but it is my fave series, Blood Oath (Dax heads with three famed Klingon warriors to take down the Albino,) The House of Quark (Quark finding out maybe its best to not get involved with Klingon politics,) Trials and Tribble-ations (Classic episode,) Far Beyond the Stars (just a a clever story, with Sisko as a 50's Sci-fi author that challnges racial issues of the era,) In the Pale Moonlight (Garak's finest hour, a stunning episode,) Valiant, Times Orphan (Molly and the time anomaly,) Tears of the Prophets (final episode of series 6, Jadzia sniff,) Badda-Bing Badda-Bang (helping Vic Fontaine get back his nightclub,) Extreme measures (getting the cure for the Changlings from Sloans mind,) What you Leave behind (final episode.)

Echoing Kid Kyoto here. The TOS episodes where they land on an alternate Earth-esque planet (The Yangs and Coms or the Gladiator one spring to mind) mirroring our Earth's developments are a bit cheesy. Was there ever any follow up on TNG where they showed up on a planet that looked exactly like Earth geographically (I think it's the Gladiator one....I'm not up to that disc yet ... hazy malt liqour too many seeds/stems memories here)? All I seem to remember from TNG was Worf consistently getting his butt kicked and flying over his station on the bridge anytime they were attacked...and Troi's boobs.lol

Yep, and gave us the coolest ever opening title sequence for Enterprise. With it laying waste to things. A scarred and bitter Trip, a sadistic Phlox and Malcolm Reed, a conniving Sato and ... Well, Archer is pretty much the same ineffectual character, really. The last season of Enterprise had some gems in it. The story arc about the Eugenic supermen and the bumpless klingons was entertaining.

I liked the one where Kirk died.
Oh wait...that was a movie.
We need more of those.
As for Voyager, there are some decent gems in the rough here. Alot of the better episodes featured the crew facing time paradoxes (it seems Star Trek excels at these especially) or when they lose complete control of their ship (seriously, you'd think losing their vessel for the seventh or eight time might give them more caution to improve security aboard their ship!!?!).
The Year of Hell Part 1-2 was good. It involves the Voyager crew facing an enemy that alters time over the span of slightly less than a year.
The Killing Game and sequel Flesh and Blood- Aliens take over Voyager and force the crew to become parts of holodeck simulations only to be hunted down for sport.
There are several Q episodes as well as Borg and other time manipulation/losing entire control of ship episodes, but by and large, watch those two episodes if you want to see how decent Voyager is.
