G'day all,

apologies if this is s bit off topic, but I wasn't sure exactly which forum to post this in.

I would like to get my grubby little mits on some perspex/plastic dust/display boxes, but amn't exactly sure what to call them, so don't know what search terms to use. See the example below of what I'm talking about.

So does anyone know where to buy these online?

I know HLJ.com sells them, but i'm sure you could get them from a more local source.. Any craft store that sells Dolls/Dollhouses or model cars.

another option would be goto your local deli, if they use square containers, then you're golden!

Lucky for me I order them for my other hobby, so there's always plenty on hand.

I've no idea of the dimensions, b/c I don't use them personally.

If you shoot an email over to Neal at the warstore website, he's a very nice guy that's more than willing to answer any questions you've got.

Neal got back to me when I asked him for the dimensions, and has now posted them to the item description on the warstore website. They are:

Added to descriptions:
02801
Plastic Figure Display Box: Small (Clear w/Black Lid) 1¾"x 1¼"x 1¼"
02804
Plastic Figure Display Box: Medium (Clear w/Black Lid) 2¼" x 1¾"x 1¾"
02805
Plastic Figure Display Box: Medium Tall (Clear w/Black Lid) 2½" x 1½"x 1½"
02807
Plastic Figure Display Box: Large (Clear w/Black Lid) 3 x 2½ x 2½

So, realistically, these are probably a bit too small for what I want them for, which is a bit of a shame.

most of your craft store should carry some sort of display with glass dome.. Check them out, I know the ones stateside have stuff that is larger, also look for framing shops.. Shadow boxes look awesome also..

I created a guide to the Chessex Boxes. Its a word document, simply print it out.

It has properly sized height/base sizes so you kinda know what you're able to fit into it.

http://www.mediafire.com/?fegq3659ccs8a9n

I give full permission for Chessex or anyone to use this fancy guide somewhere if they want or to reprint or repost it =P

Spoiler:

(As a note, this image is probably incorrectly sized, its just an example to show what the doc looks like)

What size are you after (and where are you from...just in case import taxes are an issue)?

There are a lot of them available for models:

http://www.towerhobbies.com/plastic/listings/plastic_model_display_case.html

However, those tend to be long as opposed to tall.

If you have a specific size and don't mind paying a bit for them, there are these guys here:

http://www.casesforcollectibles.com/

I use baseball cases for a few on mine:

http://www.greatdisplaycases.com/page/889647

And also the display bell jars for others:

http://www.glassdomesbelljars.com/catalog.cgi?dct=on&tt=7803

If you had something really specific in mind, were a bit handy with access to some basic tools and don't mind working with certain chemicals...you can make your own as well:

After all, you would just be building an upside down aquarium.

If you're looking for something a bit bigger, they also sell (Michael's or Wallmart for example) display cases for basket balls or foot (American) balls.

Awright, much as i hate being a thread necromancer, for those of you who are interested, NukeArts got back to me, they aren't sure where to get them online, but the brand name is Daiso, and a quick search turned up this for me:

http://i385.photobucket.com/albums/oo300/leonography/storageT-105.jpg

Which I think is a great display box for showcasing a squad.

Thanks for the baseball display cases idea, I will look into it, but I think tha I may have to go to somewhere that plays baseball first!

Thanks for the input everyone, when I find a decent online store I will let you know!
