That, I'm actually having a hard time with. Considering his state, I don't think it would be very good to just pull the rug out and start deleting his stuff. I will have to say though that if he doesn't change it, we probably will.

I just want to add that I too feel a little dirty validating this lol

but here goes!

Assuming we're going to keep the "Dark Emperor" name
what if he was an alpha level psyker, Alpha levels are the most powerful and dangerous psykers and have been known to enslave populaces and destroy titans with but a glance
maybe it's possible that he could be on the most powerful ever encountered and he dreams of uniting all races under one banner

With the Imperial Guard that would be easy..using his psychic powers on normal humans is cake walk, With the Marines and Chaos Marines might be a little tougher but no impossible ...the Chaos Marines could even be followers if he were of the evil or even "neutral" persuasion

with the Orks I don't think it would be that hard to control them either, Orks are a very psychic race if a powerful enough psyker could use glamours on them ..maybe they see everyone around them as Orks and believe they're doing the will of an extremely powerful Brain Boy or Weird boy

with the Tau there is some speculation that they might be controlled by the Ethereals..and even though they have no known presence in the warp that could be used somehow?...I'm not that knowledgable in Tau fluff ...either that or they see every other race working together which goes with their greater good concept so they'd be like a pig in .....fudge... : I

for the Eldar you might use the same excuse as with the orks or they would be there for their own reasons, what are the reasons? who knows?
as for the Tyranids it's a stretch but he could have used his mind to tap into the Tyranid hive mind and become one with them

so to sum things up most if not all of the races could actually be slaves to an extremely powerful psyker...the cooperation is only a facade under a velvet fist of domination if you will

I suppose that's one way of shoe horning this all in

Edit: I also wanted to say kudos to you for being patient with a friend....but remember...friends don't let friends become mad prophets rambling about stardust empires

I find that to be a much better explanation. Plus it can just be added to what's there, and is much more in line with the overall theme of 40k. So we just took a huge Mary Sue and turned into a 40kish villain.

I did have a thought though...could we tank the "Dark Emperor" moniker and go with Ziggy?

then he could be supreme leader of the Ziggy *wait for it* Stardust Empire

It would be just a coincidence that Ziggy plays guitar

it sounds beautiful

That's exactly how I felt when I read that site. It reminds me of another thread that popped up somewhere where someone was writing the most god awful piece of OF I have ever had the misfortune of reading. Calling it 'original' isn't even accurate it was a poor reskin/copypasta of cliches piled on stereotypes.

I don't think anyone is accusing the "fluff" of being the work of Shakespeare (understatement perhaps)

but the OP asked for help to consolodate it into canon and even though we all know its ridiculous the least we can do is try to help bring some semblance of sanity
to it if the creator of it refuses to ackowledge the absurdity of it all....btw this might be out of morbid curiosity OP but exactlty how old is the creator of this stardust empire and
how much experience do they have playing in the 40k universe...this might go along way into figuring out the method behind the madness

on a sidenote i screwed up the quote cause i have my daughter in one hand

He's getting better, but not great. I think he learns from defeats, and I've helped him, though he seemed to not go in the right direction the times I played with him. However, the manager at the store he plays at doesn't give him that credit.

Furry Eldar? That sounds like it's intended to be trolling. This guy wants to have a serious addition to the fluff. Or was that supposed to be serious?

Surprisingly, it was indeed serious, it wasn't a troll. As much as the creator tried to prove otherwise, the title of 'Furry Eldar' suited it well.

I just remembered something about this. There was one thing in the Stardust Empire fluff that I slammed the brakes on real hard.

Originally the Stardust Empire was 24 worlds, then it was 34. Then I invaded it with the 60 world Sturmkrieg Sektor (another 40 in Rotstein, but they like to function separately) and it went up to 134. I immediately changed it to 34 and left a stern message on the talk page saying it wasn't going past that.

So, I don't get it. Your friend comes up with all these ideas, and you have to convince him to scale them down? Is these some committee that decides on these things? Is this a collaborative effort? Why does your friend not post here himself? Why are you a middle man? Honestly this situation is probably doing more bad for the whole fluff debacle than it needs. Your friend should post here and see the feedback for himself, instead of you being the blow cushioner/middle man/negotiator.

He writes about the Stardust Empire himself. My only role was writing about invading it when I saw the epic levels of heresy. That one incident is also the only time I intervened in it. I asked him to register here so he could post himself, but there was a problem where he couldn't confirm his email address. I'll ask him again now that the problem is fixed and see if he wants to discuss it here, because I mentioned that getting input from other people will help the quality.

I don't get it either. I mean, it's silly background but it's his background. He can have 134 worlds if he wants.

"Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? I would have let it go for that reason, except he made the change from 34 to 134 right after we declared war on his empire.

The campaign for 34 worlds is already stacked in his favor, with an average of 10 to 15 territories per world to take over.

That wasn't the intent. If he beats us in the campaign, he beats us, and I'll respect that. But increasing his empire size by 100 worlds as soon as someone declares war on him is just silly. Dondrekhan brought up the point that it would be useless to have a campaign based heavily on mostly fluff because it would turn into one upping.

He's also been the one doing that mostly. I've lost track of how often he writes some story where our guys suddenly surrender and ally with him. Most of the time I don't bother changing it or trying to counter it.

What is the problem with it? What should I change?

I agree with that. I would say overall, and to a lesser extent, the other fluff suffers as well, but that's mostly because the articles by themselves aren't really engaging. I think it's better to write stories and have links to articles about the content featured in the stories.
