Hey everyone,
I am looking at ways the space marines have to stop an aegis defense line, specifically disabling the quad gun. I do not want the method to cost more than 250 points. Also this method must be fairly reliable and work by turn two. In other words I am looking for a method that can assure that any flyers that come in are free from the AA fire of a quad gun.

So far all I really have is stern guard with lysander, but that is some huge number of points.

Why would you bother with Lysander?

5 man sternguard
-Drop pod.

Just drop them behind it and use their Hellfire rounds to wound on 2+.

Cheap, efficient, dead quad-gun.

Quad gun doesnt really hurt flyers ALLLLLL that much. It cant even reliably kill a flier. Maybe over multiple turns of shooting.

Yea you can shoot it :-P. It's only T7 2W. Force it to take saves. Sterguard could very easily accomplish that with hellfires.

Ok, thanks. See we are all still a bit new to 6th and I have read the brb. Thing is i could not find where it said it was artillery. Turns out it is under battlefield terrain and gun emplacement. well that easy. LONG LIVE MY FLYERS : )

Thanks guys

That is not bad, now that i know I can just shoot It I would like some creative ideas for turn one removing it from play. lets see if we can keep them under 200 points. I am working on a list with not a lot of wiggle room.

Unless you get behind the ADL, the quad gun still gets the 4+ cover save.

Drop-pod sternguard is really the only way to basically guarantee a dead quad-gun turn 1. Unless your opponent somehow can make a 24" wall of men on all sides of it. In which case, he's awesome.

5 Sternguard in a Drop Pod is 160. You might want 5 Combi-Meltas or Combi-Plasmas to make the unit more versatile, which would total 185.

Current Record: 5 Wins, 6 Draws, 3 Losses 2000 points

In Progress: 500 points

5 sternguard dropping behind his lines is going to get killed so fast...
Any extra points is super meh.

Besides, they'll have gotten you safety for your flyers and first blood. Give them a pat on the back and a proper burial, let that be that.

In which case, he's playing foot guard properly. I kid

And to be constructive, I agree with keeping them barebones, you don't want to waste a lot of points. If they do survive, I'm sure the one or 2 guys can just use hellfire rounds on something else, or maybe the AP3 one if needs must. They are a suicide unit. Don't overload them.

Haha, honestly, that's how I've taken to protecting my gun. Can't deepstrike on top of my plastic dudesmen, so I leave the only space in front of the ADL where it can get a save. Which makes me awesome

The fact that it can come down on the first turn if you need it too and it arrives where you want + the nice 6" debus move and yup, Sternguard are 100% win
