Working on my project, I'm debating whether or not to scale down the size a tad.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/472906.page

Originally, my plan was to go for 2ft x 2ft. Which is, coincidentally, the size of a Realm of Battle Tile.

However, that got me to thinking that this tile size is rather unwieldy.

I've begun thinking that knocking the tile size down to 18" square instead. At this point it won't make a 6x4 table, but it will make 6x4.5 table.

Thoughts?

It's hard to give any feedback with a total lack of details.

2x2 is rather unwieldy. It would make the pieces hard to store in a stack. 18" would probably be okay.

You should make this a poll!

I'm having a hard time picturing what you're going to do. Is it going to be a 'piece' of table like those GW boards? or is it just going to be terrain for a table? I'd probably have a better idea if the sketch in your thread wasn't broken for me.

If its gonna be a piece of table, I say 2 x 2... if its just going to be a terrain/surface piece for a table then the 1.5 x 1.5 to allow for other terrain or something.

Try these:
"Arena"

"Parking Garage"

"Temple"

And here is a sample of what 18" tiling would look like on a 6x4 table (using 2 types of tile)

Why not go with 16" x 16"

That will give you a clean 4'x4' table or a 4'x6'8" or a 4'x5'4"...

Then again - 12" squares are nice since you can store those on most "standard" book shelves. If you want to keep the number of parts to a minimum you can use 1x2 easily enough. The 1x1 tiles are sufficiently large for most types of sculpted terrain, and for larger stuff you can easily spread it across multiple tiles.
