CCS LC, Sniper, Camo Cloaks

Plasma Vets Chimera

Melta Vets

PCS Flamer x4 Chimera
PIS AC, GL
PIS AC, GL

Vendetta
Valkyrie (holds and delivers Melta Vets)

LRBT
LRBT Lascannon

Aegis + Quad

This puts me at 1265pts. I'm tempted to bring a PBS, but I'm worried about their effectiveness. The lascannon the on the 2nd Russ never hits anything anyway, I'm thinking of just upgrading to a Demolisher.

All criticisms and comments welcome. Suggestions on the last 200ish points are even more welcome. The local meta is SM, Tau, IG.

Plasma guns, bro. Grenade launchers aren't good against MEQ if that's the meta. It's also common to give the CCS plasmas and stick it in a metal bawks.

For the CCS, I might be tempted to drop the Sniper rifle. I really like the CCS with a LC, it makes for a good, low profile unit.

Plasma Vets in Chim, usual and good choice. Although you only have 2 AV12's sitting on the board (minus flyers). This makes them an easy target, I might try bringing one or even two more if possible.

Melta vets in Valk are not as good as they used to be. Getting them out requires a full turn from the Valkyrie, I would not expect it to live beyond that turn.

Vendetta will be great, as always. Especially with multiple flyers. I would almost consider changing the second detta. If you do this, you can even opt for a less expensive melta carrier, such as SWS.

LRBT is classic, but I would go for the demolisher for the 2nd one. You dont have much for anti- 2+.

As for the platoon, I do not like the 4X flamers in the chimera. IIRC you cannot snap fire flame throwers except in overwatch. This really restricts your use with them. IMO, they would be much better off with melta or plasma. Or being on foot.

I know a lot of people like the GLAC combo, but I am just not sold. I was once in favor of GL's...then I took meltas and have not looked back since.

So you have 200 points left, I would try something like this that keeps the overall theme and feel of your army:

CCS LC, Camo Cloaks
Plasma Vets Chimera
Melta Vets Chimera
Plasma Vets Chimera
PCS Melta x4 Chimera
PIS AC, MG
PIS AC, MG
Vendetta
Vendetta
LRBT
Demolisher
Aegis + Quad

1500

4X Chimeras along with 2X Russes advancing forward. And then you have 2 vendettas coming in as well as the long range, BiD-ed and FoMT-ed Autocannons and MG's there in case something dangerous gets too close.

Excellent advice, but this is my only concern. I always find it tough to get into melta range if I'm relying on chimeras which is why I like to drop a squad from a valk. You said SWS, for the possible back field drop. Is that too risky? Essentially only 1.5 meltas hitting the turn they arrive.

Yes, but against an army such as GK, that only have so many shooting units that means they need to devote enough firepower to bring down a lowly 6 or 12 guardsmen in 2 squads. All while Leman Russes and Vets are fast approaching and they are being shot long range by AC's.

It would require your opponent to prioritize their firepower (unless a lot of MSU, such as IG or some MEQ) and even if they do manage to kill them you are now out 65 points, thats not a ton. Maybe find room for Marbo, another harrassment unit that, yes his initial appearance does the most damage, but if he is not addressed he can cause a lot of chaos.

You have to consider that you are taking the fire off of your real heavy hitters OR your opponent is letting a glass cannon sit in their deployment. Either way you win.

I normally take Marbo, he does wonders against MEQ, especially with challenges now.

Still the lists I come up against don't tend to have much in the way of AA. Maybe a quad or icarus if they remember it, but that can be easily taken down on the 1st/2nd turn. So maybe the SWS might be worth it...

Interesting advice, I will try it. Never used SWSs before so I can trial it.
