I'm wanting to make an allied component to my Dark Angels army and I am dead set on using Angry Marines. I'm just not sure how to play them. I think I will field them as either Black Templars or Blood Angels, but i dont know which will suit them more. Any opinions?

Just do everyone a favour and stay away from the offensive side of them.

Curse words are ok, but covering them with stuff that'd make a sailor blush is a step too far. Similarly, the 'rape train' comments I've seen on some Angry Marine models are about as tasteful as calling them n-word murdering homo bashers.

i havent seen any that bad. just the some curse words and middle fingers.

i agree with kaldo. PLEASE dont make them too offensive. some offense is ok, but if it makes people want to take your models and force feed them to you, youve gone too far.

no, i think ill stick with a small detachment and mainly just play around with weapons and heads. I'll also make sure to keep the writing tame. I agree and dislike those over offensive marines

Wha...what... Whats the point of running Angry Marines if you aren't going to go all out on the offensive content??

If you plan on running them in a tourny then yeah, you might want to cut back on some of the nastier four letter words seeing as the TO might not let you play with em. But still, no swearing and naughty gestures kinda defeats the point of them being Angry Marines.


On topic - I would run them as Blood angels.

Also FYI there is an Angry Marine fandex. It crops up on /tg/ from time to time and i think can be found on Scrib'd if you are interested.

That would be great if you could find that fandex as it would be an interesting read and would give me a lot of ideas. I do want to keep them game worthy though so I will probably stick to keeping them along ba lines. Is there any viability in black Templars?

BT are great for closing the distance with Righteous whatever. Both have rage, so there's that. Figure out your points, and fill the Angry Marines with whichever is cheaper.

Lastly, don't listen to anyone about how to make your models. They are YOUR models. You'll buy them, you'll work on them, and you'll live with them.

BT, end of story. Even 1d4chan lists them as in-game Angry Marines. There is no chapter angrier; anybody who tells you otherwise is obviously a heretic.

Ke sure all your power weapons are Adamantine sacks of power doorknobs or power wrenches.

Angry Marines are offensive, they should be modelled and painted so. You can write the F, C, S, B words as much as you want, it's your army, don't just paint it because you may offend someone who can be made to blush by words.

As for army, I'd say BT, they seem to fit the bill the best.

Yeah, I'd highly recommend the Codex. Funnier fluff I have never read, and I love the phrase 'Litany of Litany's Litany'. If possible, use the rules from the Codex too, otherwise BT would be your best bet. As for modelling, Google Images is your friend. Things like Captains wielding dual DCCWs, a banner depicting Leonidas and uncountable models in Power Feet.

+50 DKP for choosing Angry Marines. I would dance naked in Times Square to see a full army of them.

You'll need to find some little hammer bits to make the powerfist thunder finger gauntlets.

Remember above all else, remember to model your self a sack of power doorknobs and a marine using a guardsmen as an improvised ccw.



Also ever so slighly related, does anyone know where i can get the Angry marine mod for DoW2? My searchfu isnt strong and i could only find the one for DC/SS.

The elegant solution is to write out sweary slogans of banners and armour and then artfully "bleep" a few letters with purity seals or bullet holes.

im really liking the ideas coming through and will probably end up using a lot of them, but in as to which army I will play them as I think i will use blood angels after all, mainly because their is a lot more scope for stupidity and i really want to make an artificer armour marine being carried into battle by a jump pack marine because he has so much wargear, and call it a astorath the grim, also gabriel seth is practically already an angry marine

I have a BT "sergeant" with power sword/ middle finger :/. Severed limbs look great too .

about being offensive, i just think its a tad too much if a TO wouldnt let you play them. but that would have to be going out of your way to make them absolutely horrible.

when it comes to what to use, i actually had a BA/IG list made up to use them. i just had seth, a chaplain, a sanguinary priest, 9 death company( 1 powerfist, 3 power bats, and a thunderwrench), and a death company dread with blood talons. all in a stormraven. i'll get around to making the army eventually, hopefully...

maybe you can get some ideas from what i was gonna use.

Friendly community is probably a term I've never once heard associated with 4chan, but fair enough.

That said, if you're offended by little plastic toys with outlandish paint schemes and mottos, you may need to toughen up. I mean, sure, models stomping out puppies and absuing small children might cross the line, but "Raep Train" is just a bunch of nonsense, and it isn't meant to be taken literally.

Honestly, I've always thought that Angry Marines would always work really well using World Eaters rules. Just don't use the Chaos iconography, and your golden.

Playing Angry Marines as anything besides their own codex or BT will make a real Angry Marine slightly annoyed. Go read the BT codex and rethink your decision
