Prince Yriel Slayer of *****-Ass Hive Tyrants He is the greatest character in all of Warhammer 40K. Discuss God's gift to science-fiction/fantasy. Does he deserve his own novel? If so, who should write it? How easily could he beat the Emperor in an arm-wrestling contest, very easily or moderately easily? How exactly does the Spear of Twilight work? I'm on a horse.

Pretty weak old spice reference IMHO, I'm afraid.
That said, I agree, Yriel is a great character. I'd like him to have a book but I can't really see anyone outside AD-B doing him justice...

AD-B. Hmmm. I wonder how well he could do Eldar. They weren't portrayed poorly in Void Stalker, but, they didn't have any characterization, imo. They mostly just served as a backdrop. You wish you could reference Old Spice like I do. I can teach you.

Well he didn't really get a chance to characterise them, as as you said, they were the back up to the Night Lords.
I dunno what he'd be like with the Eldar either, but Yriel seems like the kind of character that would really suit him IMHO...
At the very least, I believe in his-smellf.*

How is this puny elf concidered awesomely powerful?
I hate all things elves and really have no idea what this guys deal is.
Eldar don't need books written about them.
They're not human so cannot be easily identifiable with.

As opposed to Space Skaven (Imperial Guard) or Super-Human Super-Soldiers with nothing human left about them?
Eldar, Orks and even the Necrons are more identifiable as 'human' than what the Imperium has to offer.

The superhuman soldiers not having anything human left in them is blatantly contradictory to most of the fluff, honestly.
Orks are not more identifiable than the Imperial Guard. Necrons might be, but feth the newcrons and their tender metal man feelings.

Look at your Autarch, now back to me. Sadly your Autarch is not Yriel, and nowhere near as good. Look down, your on a craftworld, now look back up. Sitting above you on a throne of badassery is Yriel. Look to his left, he has the Spear of Twilight, now to his right, he has a gun. Look at his eye, it shoots lasers. Now look at your Autarch's left, he has a gun, look to his right he has a sword. You know why this isn't as good as Yriel? Because it isn't a legendary artifact. Look at his sword, feel inadequate, look at Yriel's spear, feel jealous, now take this Tyranid blood so you can smell like Yriel. I'm on a Carnifex

ADB: I showed the Wolves revealing the key weakness at the heart of the World Eaters; showing Angron that his Legion was broken and worthless compared to the others; that he was the one primarch who couldn't trust his own warriors, and that they didn't care if he lived or died; showing that loyalty to brothers and sons is the heart of success for the Legiones Astartes, to the point even Lorgar makes a big deal out of saying the World Eaters and their primarch were massively outclassed by Russ, and Angron was too stupid to see the lesson Russ had sacrificed time, sweat, and blood, to teach. We're talking about a battle the Wolves won, by isolating the enemy general through pack tactics, and threatening to kill him, without a hope of defending himself. It was a balance, 50/50 - Angron overpowered Russ, and the Wolves were losing ground to the World Eaters; but Russ and his warriors had Angron by the balls, and barely broke a sweat. They won, no question. Lorgar even says: "The Wolves won, meathead."
Dorn won’t help you either. He’s too busy being the Emperor’s groundskeeper, hiding behind the palace walls. The Wolf is too busy cutting off heads as our father’s executioner, while the Lion holds on to his secrets, and has no special fondness for you. Who else will come? Not Ferrus, certainly. Nor Corax either. Even as we speak, I suspect he flees for Deliverance. Sanguinius?’ Curze laughed cruelly. ‘The angel is more cursed than I. The Khan? He does not wish to be found. So who is left? No one, Vulkan. None of them will come. You are simply not that important. You are alone.’ Konrad Curze to Vulkan

You're looking at labels too much, and too superficially.
If the IG were described physically as dirty small rodenty creatures rather than human, they would be less identifiable than the others due to being a horde of rats.
Orks, Eldar and in a way Necrons each represent a different facet of humanity each that has been transposed onto an alien template.

Those "facets" aren't limited to humans. Orks are violent and lead by a dominant force. Eldar don't really share qualities with humans, Necrons.... where are they similar to humans? Other than in form?
Orks do not fear death, Eldar live until killed (or turn to crystal or some-such-crap), and necrons found immortality. None of these are shared by humanity. Humans can not identify with the immortal.

When compared to Imperial Guard though...
Eldar are pretty similar to Humans so its plausable to put one in the mind of an Eldar, that is the reason there are Eldar books in the first place. (And a couple of them I believe)
The issue is more saying the Orks and Necrons are more human like than the Imperial Guard are.
Tau and Eldar are relatable actually, not as much as the Imperial Guard but they are close enough
