Great report, love the editing on the camera work. Thanks for posting. It shows the weakness of massed flyers.

Best video report I've ever seen. Great editing. Keep up the great work.

Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.

Good battle. You played well against the Necrons.

Too bad table quarters isn't a standard book mission.

Awesome video guys and great report...not gonna lie but that Seer Council of doom and Pathfinder horde list gives me nightmares as there really isn't much to take it down!

Oh and tell Jesse he needs to stop rolling low on those important break checks! Some guys have all of the luck...

I'm surprised at how ineffective he was at killing any of the eldar.

Were you fishing for Invisibility, or just end up with it?

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

Well he took a farseer with 4 powers which gives a very good chance to get it.

Turn 4, you said the Swooping Hawks failed to come back in, but reserves are automatic on Turn 4.

Overall, a great report though. Makes me want a council!

Son of adam is a damn good 40k player. His whole crew of 40k buddies seemed deathly afraid of that council, with good reason.

Well, it's a thousand point unit.

He also mentioned at turn 5 that the Swooping Hawk scattered off the board again. I assume that's what he meant about them not coming in on turn 4.

Lovely report, very well made.

But... where is all the terrain??

Thanks fellas for all the positive feedback.

@DarknessEternal I was building the list as a denial army. All of it ended up having a 2+ cover save which will negate nearly all of the fliers shooting power. I can't shoot him down, but he can't kill enough of me either, and the units I have are scoring.-- And for the council, yes, I am fishing for invisibility and that is why I take the max powers I can. If I get it they get a 2+ re-rollable cover save.

@pretre you are right they failed to come back in, but that was becuase they mishapped. They go back into ongoing reserves and return each turn, but the danger is always testing for mishap or dangerous terrain.

@LValx thanks for the compliment. Our game was great at NOVA. I look forward to playing you again, and getting that beer we never had time for.

@ArbitorIan we were setting up the field using the NOVA pre-determined terrain setup. They require certian types/amount/placement for their terrain and we were trying to get used to it. We will have more in the stock missions for future reports. Thanks for the compliments.

Great report man... what do you think of the swooping hawks? It looks like they didn't do much, does this change in other games? I'm considering maxing out on min size skyleap squads, but I dunno...

@ Radical_Edward: I do like the hawks, at least more than I used to. They compliment my target denial method for this list. Everything has a 2+ cover save and they aren't on the table to shoot all game.
For me their use is purely utility. You can see they come in and do some small damage with their grenades, but then last turn they will drop down and contest, or claim objectives (given the scouring mission) and in this particular match, overwhelm points in order to claim table quarters as well (NOVA specific victory conditions).

If you plan on having them fulfil this utility role, I would not suggest making them a full squad. It drives up the cost for the same amount of output. However, like you asked, three squads min squads isn't a bad idea, I just didn't have the points in this list to fit them.

@ Dozer Blades: Thanks for the compliment. I enjoy playing those unconventional armies, winning with them is more satisfying for me.

Great report; great quality and keeping the commentary to the heart of the matter. Timing was perfect for commentary and the report.

The Swooping Hawk unit: were you casting Doom on a target unit to try and get a more effecient wound count with their blast template attack?

Overall, the Eldar list was very interesting. I hadn't thought of taking 2 Farseers in a mounted Seer Council.

The only thing that appeared a bit unusual is that not much seemed to die in any list.

All in all, how did your NOVA experience go with the Eldar? Did you run into any Flamer heavy armies that could be an achilles heel?

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Sarigar: Yes I was using doom on the unit I was dropping the template on. I don't think that I would have if it was not also the target of the council though. It is a good combo.

The reason not much died in the game was because everything in my army had a 2+ cover save and the council's save was re-rollable on account of Fortune and Invisibility between the two farseers (hence invisi-council).

NOVA went well, I lost both games on the roll for last turn. Had either game gone to, or stopped at a different turn either of those games could have been different.

You are very right, flamers are certainly the bain of this army, but with how quick NOVA was after 6th and with my stubborn determination to take Eldar, I didn't mind this being my hard counter. I actually had to play three demon armies in the second set of four games (all with breath). I was able to pull out a win against all of those flamer heavy lists, but they were not easy wins.

Okay maybe just a minor point here, but I'm not sure the Necron player was being correct with his flyer movements - I saw lots of pivoting after he moved them, which isn't allowed, and at the 7:40 mark he pivots one about 160 degrees before doing a move, which is a huge no-no!

It just irks me when people who bring cheese lists don't follow the rules properly with them, making them potentially even worse as far as the cheesy factor goes.

Great report, and amazing video. I truly enjoyed watching.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

I was saying the exact same thing as I watched the video: "Hey, he's pivoting too far! Those aren't legal moves! . . . Pivoting after the move! Are you kidding me???"

Great batrep.

I don't typically like deathstars, but I find myself intrigued by Invisi-council.

I enjoyed your report, although the Necron player would hate me - one long turn like that and I'd fish out the protractor on him. I know what 90' is and now he will learn as well.

What's more interesting is the cross-shaped flight stem that come with flyers is already cut at four 90 degree angles. One look at the stem should allow the player to see where the flyer is allowed to pivot.
