This is what worries me, even if they include the new DV models as part of the new release. I would hope for a little more.

In a few years it'll be the spiky Rhinos that will seem out of place, and armour-plated beasts will be normal

Then I will be using my CSM as a counts as vanilla marines. I hate to be "that guy" but I really can't see myself using any of these with the exception of the techmarine.

Maybe I will open the stormtalon I have on my shelf for my Black Legion army.

OMG, four new kits and people are complaining there isn't more? FFS, give it a couple minutes. There's still the codex as well.

Seriously, I'm gonna have to sig the GW could give out hummers and people still wouldn't be happy thing.

Isn't this pretty much what the Grey Knights got? And they made GW a mint. Chaos has a ton of the models in the range already. Not saying they won't release additional models down the line to replace parts of the current line but you're still looking at 4 units added to the codex. In a codex like Chaos that's already got a ton of units you really expected more?

I think the fiends look like oversized skaven with armor.. the dragon/warp talons/warpsmith look great though! Can see some nurgle potential for the dragon

It doesn't matter which way someone spins it, these are warmahordes miniatures and possibly beast wars.

I want none of it. I wanted techy engines that fit the corrupted nature of chaos marines sadism, but sadly these look more at home in chaos daemons. Sheesh, they may as well merge the 2 again.

I hope the rest of the book makes up for this crap and isn't just a patch and RANDOM TABLES.

>.< Point taken. I think it is more (at least in my perspective) that everything new looks amazing and as mentioned, when compared to the "spiky" rhinos, you cannot help but want to see more.

Nothing wrong with 'that guy' plenty of people use one lot of Marines for various Marine codexes, it makes sense.

But I like all that stuff, looks very nice, apart from maybe the forgefiend not sure if I like that. Dragon looks like its going to be very easy to transport....
But it also seems a little odd that they wouldn't release any new infantry models with the original wave. This might not be everything...

Nice to know that my corrupted techmarine isn't a million miles away from that Warpsmith. Might save me a few pennies.

Also, since it seems to have an axe AND a gun, this means that the old school Warsmith model should be viable again too!

after the long wait, im just glad chaos is getting a new codex. they do all look good IMHO. i dont really understand all the negative waves im getting form people about them. they do look good!

Honestly I was planning on kit bashing them from the gate so mine were unique. Imagine the Hellpit abomination mixes with the fiend for Nurgle fairly well. Could also see mixing parts with a dread knight. I am really struggling with the flier though, maybe reconfigure the wings like a flies wings and give it a gut and an insect head? WHo the F knows.....

I must admit I kinda did expect more for the flagship codex of 6th edition.

I suppose Hasting's release schedule was once again greatly exaggerated and they intend to spread CSM out over 2-3 months, so Oblits, Hellbrutes, Cultists and whatever else they intend to update will be trickling out for the rest of the calendar year.

Has anyone said this is ALL that is being released?
I clicked the link in the closed thread about the pics, and the write up says 'New Chaos units' which to me could mean that these are just the new units, not new models. There could be a couple more.

Two good things about the warp talons, I will have new noise marine heads, and Lots of LC for my terminators.

Other than the chicken little crowd, I don't think anyone is saying that this is it. We won't know until we see the WD and they finish releasing.

Many mongers have been saying two waves sometime in Sept/Oct/Nov to cover the entire line for CSM.

Not a Chaos player, but after Dark Vengeance and the step up Chaos got there these are disappointing. Only the Warp Talons and Warpsmith fit the aesthetic of the new Chosen and Lord. As people have said, the new Fiends look like WarmaHordes models or mecha-Tyranids.

I think its the strange web like trim pattern in the positive space tat kills it for me. Would it have killed them to maybe try and sculpt some actually detail in those parts rather then just randomly connect some lines. I am comming around from my initial reaction otherwise, I think I am going to have to do A LOT of sanding though.

by the looks o it the forgefeind/maulerfeind is a dual kit looking at the back parts and necks.
im guessing the dragon and engines will be defiler and land raider prices.

the warptalons may be dual kits as well.
