Holy crap, flails could get crazy. Wonder who gets them. If you can get into base to base with enough to make the majority WS drop. Also it is not 1 or more flails, so I think it could stack. Also a good way to protect those demon walkers. Grenades hitting on fours/fives reliably makes them much less scary(kraks were meh since they needed a 6 to glancee before saves).

Dreadnoughts/Hellbrutes.

Anyone seen the options for a normal ole chaos lord? I'm wondering (though doubting) that a lord can take fleshmetal (assuming this is for oblits and such).

Although, by the time I brought one, the Thunder Hammer (and TL heavy bolter) were bits order only :(
I also hope the Defiler gets the option. It'd be nice for that six headed tentacle/flail/whatever bit to have a name & rules

From the picture, normal CSM squads cannot take Plasma Cannons. However, it does have a list saying that the Aspiring Champions can take wargear from the Ranged Weapon section of the wargear list. Doubtful that will contain a Plasma Cannon, but not sure as I do not have a list of that.

Hello all Im new to your site and the rumors at my local FLGS have really had me thinking as of late. I am a long time black legion player with abaddon as my general(like theres any other HQ to lead them ) I am looking to start a death guard army aswell and I have a question for all of you. Does manreaper double typhus str to 8 aswell as being AP2? im sorry if this has been answered but theres 84 pages to this thread and the few pictures I have seen of the codex have always had an obnoxious glare exactly over what I want to read.

If you buy enough upgrades to make a basic CSM "better" than a Berzerker... than your CSM represents a marine with enough experiance and favor with a deity that he probably should be better than Berzerker. Such a CSM unit would likely cost more too.
Even then "better" is subjective. Icons and Marks allow you to make a pseudo-berzerker with a sleu of options otherwise not available to a proper Berzeker. So if they're "better" its only because of a particular need for such options.

If berserkers are 15pts as has been tossed around then let's compare the models:
Khorne Berserker - 15pts
Furious Charge, Mark of Khorne, Fearless
CSM - 17-17.5pts
Mark of Khorne (2), BP/CCW (free), Then you have to choose between the Icon for Furious Chage & Re-roll charge or fearless.
So the Khorne Berserkers are significantly cheaper as the 17.5 relies on 10 models. It goes up if you do a smaller squad and down if you do a bigger one.
I just don't see the Khorne Berserkers being worse than standard marines even at 16pts-17pts.

I'm all about the Realm Of Chaos since the day I discovered GW back in about 1989. I think the new stuff looks great and I'm quite excited about it, but as usual for the past couple years especially it comes at a price, literally. I'm not surprised GW decided to push the price limits yet again on some of these items, but I'm still a bit alarmed every time they do it and they've been doing it more than ever for the past two years. Not to encourage it, but on a forum where many of the most prolific participants spend most of their energy complaining about every little thing GW does both real and imagined I am surprised that there isn't more moaning in this thread about the $50 US price point on the Codex or the $74 US price point on the Heldrake. Fantasy customers, enjoy your $41.25 Army Book price while it lasts.

Agreed... Berzerkers are just a bit more specialized and that's the trade off. The reason for taking CSM with marks and icons is simply a matter of needing something that's similar to Berserkers but with more options and more generalized abilities.

Well just crunching the numbers so far is all I'm doing (which I know is bad) killing time but, at 13 stock with a free swap to CC weapons they are WAY cheaper. Someone leaked a berzerker at 15pts but that isn't completely true given their start up cost of 105 for 4+ champ. If they are only 15 then you are over paying BIG for the skull champ who would come out at +30pts!!!! That's 45pts for him with know gear. So a ten man squad will cost you 180 which breaks down to 18 per fig, that leaves MUCH room to play with that CSM squad IMO. Also consider the fact you must purchase a lord of K to make the zerkers scoring and you can probably see the angle I am coming from. I saw Noise M at a start up of 90 for the first five and 17 per additional which means the 10 are 175 or 17.5 per model with higher I and a boltgun and CC weapon meaning they have more potential to inflict damage early and strike first. Also concider after the first round of CC they will have the same number of attacks but at a higher I..... Just theory hammering while I wait :/

Pulsating Possessed Chaos Marine

A regular marine can buy the mark of khorne for 2 points and then pay 2 points for a close combat weapon. So for 17 total you get bolter, 2 base attacks and rage and counter attack. I guess you don't get access to chain axes, but those don't really seem worth it. I suppose they are also not fearless. Although they are still WS 5 the bezerkers are now only at one attack base.
So you trade fearless, WS5 and chain axes to get flamers or melta guns while still keeping your bolters while being cheaper.

Several people have said it is 15 which doesn't factor the start cost of 105 for 4+skull champ. 105/5 is 21 points per guy then 15 per additional lets say 10 total so 180/10 now they are 18 per guy. So they get less expensive as the unit grows but so do the CSM which pay WAY less initially. 75/5 is 15 then 13 for more. Weighing in the forced* champs is more telling as the CSM pay +10 to the KB +30!!!

What!!! They are not bad, they are now 70 points wrather then 75 and can buy marks...... So basically for the price you were paying they now can also get T5, with MoN or a 4++ with MoT. Oh and they have assault canons again...... Nope pretty sure they still win over havocs for being a swiss army knife.
