£70 for a book is an absolute piss-take whichever way you look at it.

Ah, the sheltered life of people who have never had to buy an expensive textbook. $115 for a 300 page hardcover book in a limited market isn't really all that shocking, and I'd probably get more use out of it than the $150-200 textbooks I've had to buy.

And sure, FW could have dropped the quality of the book to codex level and cut the price to match, but would anyone really want to buy that? The whole appeal of buying FW books is that it's a high-quality hardcover full of awesome content, and that simply doesn't come cheap.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Actually, its true. Whilst £70 is alot of cash, it certainly isn't the most expensive book I would have bought. And it has the added bonus as being one that will bring me joy, unlike several boring textbooks...

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

£70 is nothing for a full colour leather-bound book...
The price of some photography books I purchase would cause a stroke in some people here. And they ain't even full colour...

I'm one of those people who has always just accepted the expense of FW items. Unlike GW prices, FW items are expensive but I never really think much about them.

But a £70 book has me turning away from this series. Taros is arguably the largest IA release to date, and it's £55. Why is this £70? The pleather cover?

See, THIS is my concern. Tamurkhan shouldn't have been a flop, but so few bought it that it seems like one. And then we never heard about a another book. Forge World is the perfect venue for some of these figures, but they really need to tone down the gold-plated pricetag of some things.

How was Tamurkhan even close to a flop? I sold tons of copies all across the world, I know in my area in arizona I've seen more than a few floating around.

Forgeworld has kept current with Tamurkhan and even released FAQ and contiune to update information as needed.

I say this is FAR from a flop, also black fire pass is set for december. Think before you speak

It is £70 because GW/FW thinks that this series is going to be a huge seller (it is) and that they'll be able to 'get away' with this rather ridiculous price.

I guess BL paved the way for them, selling thousands of copies of HH novelas for $50 within a few hours, if that...

It isn't a ridiculous price for a book, though. It's pretty much typical across all spectrums. Now, those new FW jetbikes selling for £70? Those are over-priced...

I'd imagine the classic jetbikes would be really popular, a great opening product and even hurt Chapterhouse a bit.

Maybe we will see other patterns turn up? They did such a good job with the rhino.... maybe they could not decide which old style to copy because the guard bikes had the BMW nose, and the marine bikes had the cow catcher plow front. Oh and what is a Volkite Culverin?

Searching for it broke the internet.

Well gak. I should just give them my bank account deet's. take all my money.
I haven't felt this giddy in a long, long time. Come to think of it, the last time I felt like this was when my daughter was born.

And re: the price of the book, are you kidding me? 70£ is nothing for what you're getting, if you're in doubt. Call a local printing service ask them what it'd cost you to have full color prints on 90+ pages. (and then ask what it'd cost to get it w. the pagecount from the book)
Then when you have those numbers, account for production, salary, marketing, distribution.

Yeah.. it aint so expensive anymore is it.

It IS ridiculous compared to previous offerings/page counts.

This is a bit of a money grab, and it is OK to recognize that.

Plus, what is or is not ridiculous is all relative, so, there's that too.

@alpharius, yeah thought i tacked that onto my reply, It's all relative.

I don't mind the moneygrab for this kind of humongous fanservice, i mean.. we've all been doing pre-heresy armies, we've talked about how cool it'd be if they did this, and then.. well.. they did.
And this geek for one, appreciates it

I'm hoping someone will ask them about that at the event. I would be much happier for the IA level of book for $25 less. I do not require gold foil or metal corners or any of that fancy crap.

Where does it say anything is 'limited'?

Or do you mean the number of copies on sale at the UK GD?

Just the UK Open House Day will have limited copies available. After that, you can buy them by the gross from the Forge World site if you wanted to...

I believe they just mean they only have a limited quantity available at the show. These have varied, I've heard in the past them only having 25 and other time hundreds more.

No way of knowing. They had plenty of the Event Only miniatures on Day 4 of GenCon this year. However, due to the popularity of HH (and causing people like me to go ape gak for it), they'll probably sell out quickly.

If you were going to wait in the long line (or que, as you good chaps say) anyway, then I'd do it first thing. Otherwise, wait a week, then order it from the FW website.
