The old version read "In close combat each beast has D6 attacks- roll every time they are about to attack. These attacks are poisoned (wounding on a 4+, as described in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook)"

So the keywords being "the result" and "all", is this saying that each Beast of Nurgle gets D6 attacks for every beast in its unit? Meaning if you had a maximum unit of 7, you'd get 7D6 x 7 attacks, all of which poisoned? That sounds crazy, but then again these things are Weapon Skill 3, Slow & Purposeful Infantry melee units that cost 35 points per model, and for 5 points more you can get a Bloodcrusher which has: a 3+ armor save, a 5+ invuln save, 2 more WS, 1 more S, 2 more I, no Slow & Purposeful, and Furious Charge instead of Feel No Pain. For a 5 points more.

This, and also wondering why they would re-word it to say the same thing when the original version was completely indisputable. Maybe since it says "all" instead of "each", it really does say the same thing. But then, it's put in the errata section where they were completely remaking the rules for the units... wouldn't it be in the FAQ section if they wanted to say the same thing differently? But then that would imply a question to answer of which there are none. AUGH! Games Workshop, you guys are fething nuts.

All this does is mean you roll once for the unit instead of once for each model. So with a unit of seven beasts, instead of rolling 7d6 and totaling them to find the number of attacks, you just roll 1d6 and multiply it by 7.

It says a D6 for each. Not a D6 for all

This^

You get 1d6 for the unit, then multiply that number by how many models are in the unit.

So with 5 models in the unit and you:

Roll a 1 = 1 attack each for a total of 5 attacks.

Roll a 2 = 2 attacks each for a total of 10 attacks.

Oh, how could I have missed that. Well, that settles that.

And here I was hoping they finally made Beasts worth taking.

You know, while we're all still here, anyone mind if I change the title and just make this a "Are Beasts Worth Taking" thread?

1d6 per unit is the number of attacks per model that turn.

Doesn't help the model is expensive as hell, finecrap only and direct only, or I would have 7 of them.

But roll a 6 and they demolish everything. In the old rules they were subject to the rule of averages. Now if they are a unit of 7, they can with a single dice throw randomly be doing either 7 attacks or 42.

I'm guessing this isn't right either I completely backup the one roll for each unit means how many attacks it has however...

It says roll one D6 for each friendly unit locked in combat... wouldn't that mean if you have 2 units on the same combat roll 2D6 and then all the models on that unit have that number of attacks?

No, its 1d6 for each unit, and that is the number of attacks "in that unit".
