Would anyone take issue? I'm thinking something extremely small scale. Specifically using the new Jetbikes for my White Scar armies bike Command Squad. Their equiptment options would remain the same... but something to make the unit stand out a little bit would look really nice on the table!

ThoughtS?

A bit early to tell, I think. The models aren't even out yet!

It depends on whether there's a jetbike unit that you can take in a codex marine army.

If there is, it could be confusing. I suspect most people would be fine with it if you're using only one or the other but not both, but at that point you're definitely into "proxy", not "counts-as".

If there isn't, it should be fine. The jetbike model looks bigger than a standard bike, but it's probably close enough that it wouldn't make a huge difference.

Well, we have seen a preview video with a clear shot of the jetbike models.

There's no Jetbike unit in the codex atm, but it might get confusing when Horus Heresy books are released.

Still, I think the Rule of Cool would apply here more than anything else.

If they look cool...go for it. A jetbike will be easier to see etc...so its not like you would be modeling for advantage.

As I understand it the FW HH books will be stand alone expansions, as opposed to supplements...so I would not expect Jet bike squads to be appearing in regular armies, nor would I expect to have Legion armies fighting my Dark Eldar anytime soon.

Know thy self. Everything follows this.

Why not?

A separate Heresy game makes very little sense. Few people are going to spend the huge amounts of money involved in getting a FW army when they're only going to be able to play against other Heresy players in the Heresy-specific scenarios. I know I certainly wouldn't, simply because I don't think I'd ever find anyone to play against and the models would just collect dust on the display shelf.

What does make sense is doing it exactly like every other FW book so far: various units which can be taken in codex armies, fluff-based army lists related to the subject of the book which can be played just fine in standard 40k, and then game scenarios with story-based special rules that are meant to be played with specific forces. This keeps everyone happy: Heresy players can play Heresy games just as well as a separate expansion, but they can also use those models in normal 40k so they don't have to feel like it's a waste to buy them. FW's sales go up, and we all know that GW likes increasing sales!

And, if you need any more reasons, you can just look at the "Heresy" models they've released so far. All of them have rules for use in standard codex marine armies in standard 40k, even though they're fluff-wise incredibly rare in "modern" 40k. I would be really surprised if this pattern didn't continue.
